It’s been five months since the day that Amelia went to his house.
Jefferson found himself standing in front of Amelia’s boutique.
He could see the woman he dumped a couple of months ago. He didn’t know what exactly he should feel because Amelia just proved herself.
She was indeed pregnant and it was too late for him to realise that.
He could still clearly remember what happened during that time. He was on a business trip abroad but he quickly flew back home because his secretary sent him a message saying that Amelia was at Nathaniel’s house. He quickly went back home and from there he saw in his own eyes that Amelia was really at Nathaniel’s house.
Suddenly, anger rose inside his heart. Amelia stayed at the man’s house for two nights. She was sleeping there. So, what should he have felt during that time?
Back then, Jefferson thought that Amelia was always with Nathaniel whenever he was away.
It didn’t take long and he saw Nathaniel’s car stopped in front of the boutique so Jefferson quickly went inside with the plastic bag in his hand.
He met Amelia through Nathaniel. They were classmates and he saw the two of them in the canteen.
The first time that he met Amelia, his heart beat so fast. He knew that he fell in love with her the moment that he set his eyes on her.
Her beauty was different from the other girls that he had met before. She has an angelic face. Her lips were as if inviting him for a kiss. She had brown eyes paired with thick eye long lashes. She had a pointed nose that looked like it had been sculpted by the best sculptor in the world.
That day, he knew to himself that he wanted to pursue the woman. He would do everything for them to be together.
It was because of Nathaniel that he and Amelia had been together. They were together for two years and they shared the same birthdate. The day that Amelia surrendered herself to him.
After a while, he saw the two stepped out of the boutique and went inside Nathaniel's car. He was just looking at them afar.
They already left but he was still standing inside the store. He couldn’t even understand himself why he had to go in that place when he knew to himself that he didn’t know how to face Amelia because of what happened between the two of them.
He didn’t want to admit that he made a mistake and he was a total jerk in dumping her during the time that she needed her the most.
Jefferson came to realise how foolish he was a couple of months ago when he broke up with her.
He took a deep breath as he looked around.
It didn’t take a while and he decided to leave the place. He was so focused driving the car when he didn’t notice that another car was coming from the opposite direction out of nowhere.
He heard a loud banging sound before he lost his consciousness.
“What is the update, Alan?” He asked his personal assistant who was standing in front of her.
Alan looked more serious than usual so he couldn’t help but feel curious about the information that the man got from the investigation.
He didn’t know what exactly he should be feeling.
“Alan,” he called his name again because he was not speaking and he was just standing in front of him while giving him a serious look. “Tell me what you’ve got for today.”
Alan cleared his throat before speaking.
“Sir, we found out that on the day that you were in an accident, Miss Amelia and Mr. Nathaniel was in an accident too. Before your car was hit by that truck, they were the first ones that the truck had bumped into. The worst thing that happened was their car was set on fire. They were both declared dead on arrival,” Alan exclaimed which made him totally stunned.
He didn’t know what he should feel after hearing the news. Amelia was gone.
How could fate be cruel to him? Now that he wanted to see her and admit that he made a mistake, the woman was gone?
Suddenly he felt guilty because that news about Amelia only meant that his child also died along with her. He couldn’t help but remember her words. She said back then with so much anger in her heart that there would never be a Mcbride descendant except for her child.
A sudden fear overwhelmed him. It felt like a curse especially now that he couldn’t even feel his arousal. He tried a couple of times but he failed. There was even a time that he hired a prostitute to dance in front of him but nothing really was happening. He watched porn movies but it didn’t have any effect on him. According to his doctor, he had erectile dysfunction.
He closed his fist. Was he meant to be miserable? That was not the life that he wanted. He never imagined himself to be in that kind of situation.
His heart was beating so fast as he could not even imagine what his future would be without an heir.
It had been five years and his parents kept on telling him that he should get married but how could it be when he knew to himself that even if he would get married, he wouldn’t be able to give them grandchildren. What was even the point of getting married when he couldn’t give what they wanted?
Getting married was not the answer to his problem. More or less it would just make him feel sad and the woman that he was going to marry.
He didn’t want to feel pitied by the people around him. He was a strong man. He was known to be a great young business man and no one should know his weakness. No one should know his situation.
Inside him, he felt like he was a worthless human being because he couldn’t have a child.
Jefferson asked Alan to hire a private detective to look for his ex-girlfriend, Amelia and their child but unfortunately, he didn’t expect the news that his assistant had broken to him. He felt hopeless.
He felt that karma was real. He regretted the decision he made a couple of years ago. He was impulsive.
He should have listened to her side before making any decision. He knew that it was already too late. He couldn’t change anything anymore. He knew that no matter how he blamed himself Amelia and their child were already gone.
“Sir, do you need anything else?” Alan’s voice brought him back from reality.
He shook his head.
“You may go now. Can you just please ask my secretary to bring a cup of coffee for me?”
Alan nodded. “Yes, sir. I will tell her,” Alan replied and then he turned around.
He stood up and left.
Jefferson also stood up from his chair and turned around to look outside the window. He could see the busy street that early morning. He could say that the accident happened a few years ago and he was living his second life. He promised himself after that accident that if he survived, he would correct whatever he had done in the past, especially to Amelia.
It took him time to acknowledge his mistake. It took a whole for him to get all the courage that he needed to face Amelia. Unfortunately it was too late. Amelia was gone along with their child.
And deep inside him, he knew that he wouldn’t even hire a detective if it was not because of his parents. They wanted him to settle down so he could give them grandchildren.
After a few minutes, he heard the office door open. A woman wearing a black pencil skirt above her knees came inside.
She entered the room with elegance even with the cup of coffee in her hands.
“Good morning, sir,” the woman greeted him with a smile.
“Good morning. Are you the newly hire secretary who replaced Mrs. Baltazar?” She looked young.
The woman nodded.
“Yes, sir. My name is Jessica Gaston.”
“Alright, welcome to Mcbride company. You can leave my coffee on my desk and go,” he said.
“Okay, sir,” the woman said and then she put the cup of coffee on his desk.
Jefferson couldn’t help but look at the woman in front of her. She had a slender body. Her curves were in the right places. He could say that she was attractive especially with her butt in a perfect shape.
Her chest really caught his attention. Suddenly, in his mind, he was cupping those two big mountains and they perfectly fit in his palms.
Jefferson shook his head. He couldn’t believe how his body was reacting as he looked at the woman. He didn’t even notice when she finally left.
