He sat on his chair and made a phone call to Mandy's father.  The call was answered instantly. 

"Neo, mabuti at natawag ka.” 

“Opo, ‘Pa. Sabi po ng kasama ko rito sa office ay tumawag raw po kayo.” 

“We have been contacting you since yesterday pero hindi mo sinasagot. We thought na baka naiwan mo ang phone sa bahay kaya naisip namin na tumawag d’yan sa opisina niyo pero wala ka nga rin d’yan sabi nila."

Nagtaka siya sa sinabi ng byenan. Nasa bahay lang siya sa loob ng dalawang araw at inubos niya ang weekend sa pahinga. Hindi niya alam kung bakit hindi niya narinig ang tawag ng mga ito. He may unconsciously mute his phone kaya siguro hindi niya napansin ang phone call ng mga ito.

"It's alright, Neo. Nag-alala lang kami pero masaya kami na at least nakapahinga ka."

"Ahm,  opo.  Nakapahinga naman po kahit papaano.  Kumusta po kayo?"

“Okay na okay kami. We are planning na bumalik na sana sa America pero gusto ka sana namin makasama muna bago kami umalis. But…” 

He gets curious about Dr. Ed’s ‘but’ and waits for him to continue what he was saying.

“But something odd happened yesterday morning.” 

“Ano po iyon?” he said in his sad voice. He doesn’t want to sound sad but he did. Ayaw niya maramdaman ng mga ito na nalulungkot siya dahil pakiwari niya ay tanggap na ng mga ito ang pagkawala ni Mandy. How could they be okay and fine samantalang siya ay patuloy pa ring umaasa na buhay ang kasintahan niya. 

“Something odd… That was actually the reason why we were calling you yesterday. It was yesterday morning, we received a call from an unknown number. Becca answered it and she heard Mandy's voice. She opened the speaker of the phone and we heard Mandy’s voice talking. When we call her name ay hindi naman ito sumasagot."

Nanlaki ang mga mata niya sa narinig. Mandy’s alive kung gano’n. Tama ang hinala niya.

"Did you still have the number?” tanong niya. 

“Yes, we saved it. But there’s something odd with the call that you need to know. Mandy seems to be having fun. She was laughing while she talked to someone.”

“Mandy... is having fun?” naguguluhan niyang tanong. How could she be having fun kung kasalukuyan itong hawak ng psychopath na s Nemesis? Baka naman ang pag-iyak nito ay inaakala ng mga magulang na tumatawa ito? 

“Do you want us to go there at your office so we could talk more about it?”

“If it’s alright and convenient sa inyo mag-asawa ay malaking tulong kung makakapunta po kayo rito.” 

“Okay then. We will go later after lunch,” Dr. Ed said at nagpaalam na ito sa kaniya. 

The phone call ended at natutulala naman siyang nakatitig sa larawan ni Mandy na nasa desk niya. If Dr. Ed was right ay bakit ito mukhang masaya? Bakit ito tumatawa? If masaya ito ay mukhang hindi nadukot si Mandy. Kung hindi naman nadukot si Mandya ay nasaan ito?

Naalala niya ang nakita nila sa CCTV.  Kinuha ito ng isang lalaki. Ang CCTV ay nagpapatunay na dinukot ito ni Nemesis. And what about Mandy’s car that they found abandoned and vandalized? Alangan naman iwan ni Mandy ang sasakyan kung saan lang nito gustong iwan.  

Where are you, Mandy? Saan ka dinala ni Nemesis? Napapagod niyang tanong sa sarili.
