Chapter 29

352 Words
Does the word 'Matias' ring a bell to you? If no, then you have the right to know that they are an ancient civilization of people with peculiar eyes who once lived with us. A Matia's eye is capable of staggering feats such as creating illusions, x-ray visions, peeking through the past, uncovering the future, telepathy, or playing people’s emotions. But when the ordinary people were threatened with their existence, they banished them from society and forced them into isolation. Up to this day, not many people are aware of their existence as the authorities keep their presence a secret. This is a novel about a Matia named Danerie Jace who spent 20 years of his life inside a house with his father. He has forbidden access to the outside world for the reason that he is a Matia. His only way to kill time was the streamer, Valerie. When Valerie declared openly that she is going to Quezon City, Danerie's hometown, for a Toy Shop raid, Danerie is filled with eagerness to participate in the event. Unfortunately, his father didn't approve of the notion due to unforeseen circumstances. However, Danerie could not afford to lose this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and decided to run away from home to finally meet the streamer that he is so obsessed with. On the other hand, while Valerie was on her way to the Toy Shop, she awakened as a Matia and used her gift for the first time. When the authorities learned this, they were in pursuit of Valerie given the threat she possessed. Now, Danerie has to aid Valerie to escape from the watch of authorities. Along the way of helping his love interest, Danerie's life that is once surrounded by mysteries and secrets starts to be filled with answers. Answers that will make him question his life, origin, family, and past. Answers that will make him inquire if has been trusting the right person all this time. Something that has been buried long time ago starts to resurface again and threatens to destroy the truce between Matias and humans… something dark, traumatic, and awful.
