Chapter 5
“The group of females that look like they want to come here.” she gestured to the huddled group of females who were whispering quietly to each other while looking at Mr Damien and were— dare she say, glaring daggers at her?
She saw him sigh and shake his head.
She chuckled at him and felt a buzz in her purse.
She instantly was reminded of Dylan and forgot that she needed to call him.
“I think I need to go,” she said with an awkward smile.
He smiled back at her understanding and she was about to turn around to leave before she felt a hand on her wrist.
She instantly stopped and whipped her head towards him in surprise.
“Before you leave, I actually wanted to give you my business card,” he said, extending a small glossy black card with his company logo ‘Mason Corporate’ in thick bold.
She saw how the company had his surname but realised earlier that he had worked his way up to his position, so she had to ask:
“Is your company family owned?” out of curiosity.
“It was before. My mother’s family owned it before it was taken over by another guy. But I recently took back ownership and revamped the entire system,” he explained.
She hummed in understanding and realised that was probably why the Board of Whatever’s didn’t like him.
She then flicked the card over.
It had their company details, a fax number, a corporate email and telephone number. Standard.
However, when she looked closer, she saw the obvious handwritten number on the edge of the card, written in silver ink.
“That’s my personal number,” he interrupted, presumably seeing her stare at the odd text that was so out of place.
“I actually thought to give it to you since I know a couple of designers that could help start off your career.”
She looked up at him in surprise.
“Really? You would do that?”
“Of course, it was nice hearing that I’m an inspiration to someone.”
Her heartbeat ran faster thinking about the jumpstart that he would help do to her career.
“That would amazing help,” she said breathless,
“Thank you so much.”
“Of course. However, even though you have me such a high compliment before, in business usually a trade is needed,” he began to say.
Hearing this, she guessed it was only fair since he would be have to go out of his way to contact fashion designers for her and all she gave him was a compliment.
“Sure, what can I do?” She asked, hoping it wouldn’t be too difficult.
He folded his arms and put a hand to his chin,
“Perhaps, you could show me a nice place to have dinner and we can talk about your career then.”
She thought about it, a nice place for dinner?
That wasn’t so hard. It would be fun too.
Especially since he didn’t seem that bad to be with and it would help her career in design.
“Easy,” she grinned,
“You know, you are such a nice guy for just making me go find a nice dinner place in place for finding me a place in fashion. Getting an internship in the industry is hard.”
“Well, that’s only if you don’t have connections. But don’t worry, I have a lot of connections that could get you anywhere. Paris, Berlin, South Korea.”
Her heart began to race faster, thinking about all the possibilities he had just told her about.
This was it.
Her once in a lifetime chance to travel and go all the way to Paris to study.
It would all be a dream come true for her.
Just to make sure she wasn’t dreaming she finally downed the wine that she had been holding the entire time.
Reality struck her but she was still in the same office party.
Breathing out slowly, she quickly quick glanced back down at the business card.
