Ernie’s day was not good. She almost got hit by a car. The owner was rude, instead of apologizing he was rude to her. She heard that the man is popular and that he’s rich but she doesn’t care. He didn’t even say sorry, he should at least apologize because he almost hit her with his car.
“I can’t believe it,” she whispered while cleaning a table.
“What are you whispering, Ernie? Are you okay?” Jade asked her.
Jade is her co-worker in the café.
“I am okay, Jade, thank you for asking. It is just that my day started bad,” she said.
She can’t forget what happened earlier. That was dangerous! She knows that it’s not her fault because the car was so fast that she couldn’t see it. Also, she knows that it should be on low speed since it was in front of a university.
I can’t believe that those rich guys really exist. Sorry is not that hard to say after doing a mistake. He should at least say that single word but he didn’t. He’s rude and arrogant! If I ever saw that man again I would—
Ernie stopped from talking when the doors of the coffee shop opened. She’s about to greet the customers when she saw that man who almost hit her.
“You!” she pointed her finger to the man.
He was with three men that she think is his friends.
“Do you know this girl, Unique?”
So his name is Unique. Hmm!
The guy looked at her, he was in crossed arms and those sharp eyes look at her from head to toe. Her finger was still pointing at the guy and when he walk closer to her he put it down. Ernie step back because of how close he is.
“I don’t know ugly girls.”
Her mouth parted because of what he said.
The guts of this man! He’s so rude! Really! He almost hit me with his sports car I deserve an apology and right now instead of apologizing he said that he doesn’t know ugly girls! I am not ugly!
“H-How dare you—
“E-Ernie, they’re customers, you will lose this job if you attack him,” Jade said to her.
She bit her lower lip when she heard what Jade said. Her hands was formed into fist and she how her head. Jade is right, she almost forgot that she’s at her work. She need this work to pay for her bills that’s why she needs to take care of this.
“I am sorry for my behaviour, sir,” she said and bow her head again.
Ernie looked at Jade and mouthed thank you. She then assisted the customers.
“I don’t know why you suddenly invited us today, Unique. What happened?” a man with a red hair asked the rude guy.
“I am bored.”
“When you are bored the last time I remember you punched a guard in your village, right? I am afraid you did something bad again,” another man said.
Ernie moved her head to the side because of what she heard. Is the man crazy?
“I didn’t hurt anyone today, Gian, I am afraid of mom.”
The man named Gian laughed. Ernie looked at the rude guy and he was holding his cell phone. She couldn’t move her eyes away when she saw how serious the rude guy while looking at his cell phone.
Speaking of his appearance, he’s handsome. Her classmates are right he’s handsome and has a perfect jaw line. He also has thick eyebrows and her lips are naturally pink! It looks like he was wearing lipstick.
How could a man be this beautiful?
“Miss, why are you looking at Unique like that?”
Ernie cough when she heard one of the rude guy’s friends asked her. She was caught! Oh my gosh! How long was she looking that one of his friends caught her?
Shame on you, Ernie!
“I-I am not looking at him, sir, why would I look at him?” she asked.
“Because I am handsome? There’s no other reason for that look, woman,” the rude guy said.
Ernie almost shivers because of what the rude guy said. He’s full of himself! It’s a mistake for looking at him!
“I am looking not just at you but to all of you, sir, I was waiting for your order,” she said.
“Hallison, what do you want?” Unique asked the man in front of him.
“I want black coffee only,” Hallison said.
“This coffee shop was owned by Detti, I chose this shop to get discount but I think she’s not here,” Hallison said.
They know Ma’am Detti! They really rich! I need to thank Jade again later because she saved me.
“Why do you want a discount when we can pay for our orders here? We have lots of money, Hallison,” Unique said.
Ernie made a face when she heard what the rude guy said. She hopes all the people on the earth have a lot of money like these men.
When she got the order she went to the kitchen and gives the orders to Christian. Ernie sits on the chair and waits for the orders.
“Do you know them, Ernie?” Christian asked, “I saw you talking to them, you took so long before getting their order.”
“I didn’t know them but of those guys almost hit me with his car earlier. I just can’t forget about the rude behaviour so I confronted him but it’s not a good idea since he’s rich and can just blow me out here in the coffee shop,” she said.
The loud sound from the guy’s car and those sharp eyes that looked at her. Instead of apologising he just left her there.
Rich but rude and arrogant.
“Ernie, can you overtime? Pina didn’t go to work, she’s sick. We will lack of workers later.”
Ernie heard the voice of their boss. She didn’t thought that she will see him today. It’s the first time that she goes to the coffee shop for the last seven days.
“Boss, I am okay with that since I don’t have any quiz or exams tomorrow. I can do overtime, no problem,” she said.
Detti their boss smiled at her and pinched her cheeks. She’s been like this from the start.
“Nice, and thank you, Ernie. By the way…” Detti sit on the chair next to her, “I saw how you pointed your finger at Unique, and do you know him?”
She gulped, is this the end of her work here in the coffee shop?
“A-Ahm… boss, I… I am sorry. I didn’t mean to act like that in front of our customers. It just that, I was surprised to see that man again after what he did. I almost got hit by a sports car earlier and that man was the driver.”
Detti laughed and she was just looking at her boss. Ernie knows that their boss is strict when it comes to their work that’s why she’s making sure that she will do her job well. Also, this is the only job she has right now except of teaching the child of her neighbour.
“I am sorry, for what happened to you earlier, Ernie, let me apologize in behalf of Unique. Actually, he’s my cousin. He’s really rude; he will never apologize even if a life was at risk. He has this bad attitude that even his parents are sick of it.”
She shook her head, “It is okay, boss, I am fine and I was just surprised but I just got little bruises and nothing more. I am still alive.”
“Still, what Unique did was wrong and for you to act like that in front of him, I must apologize.”
Detti smiled and when she stood she pointed Christian, “The orders are ready, let me help you to serve those coffees to the brutes.”
She smiled back at her boss and nodded. She’s not that scary like what she heard from the employees of the coffee shop.
When they served the orders the men called her boss.
“Detti! We thought you are not here! Can you treat us these coffees?” The man with the red hair asked.
“Stop with the treat, Vin, you are all rich why would I treat you guys? Also, Unique has a lot of money. Tell him that.”
Ernie put down the tray and the coffees. When she put the coffee of Unique the man looked at her.
“Ugly.”
She bit her lower lip when she heard him say that.
Patience, Ernie, patience…
“Hey, Detti, can you do me a favour?” suddenly Unique looked at her boss.
Ernie bows down her head and was about to go back to the kitchen when she heard what Unique said to her boss.
“Can you fire that woman? I don’t like what she did to me earlier. She just pointed a finger at a customer, Detti, are you keeping this kind of workers in your coffee shop?”
She looked back. Scared of what her boss might said. When she’s going to talk for herself and to explain why she did that, Detti walk closer to her cousin and pinched his cheeks hard. Ernie’s mouth parted and she saw how the rude man’s cheek became red.
“Ouch! Detti! Why did you do that?”
“That’s a punishment. I will not fire, Ernie, why would I fire a great worker here in my coffee shop just for your not good reason, Unique? You should apologize for what you did to Ernie earlier.”
“I don’t stay long in my coffee shop but feedbacks from the customers and other workers matters. They all recommend Ernie for doing a good job and for what she did earlier to you she has a reason, Unique and I know that reason. You should apologize to Ernie now.”
She looked at her boss and when she glanced at her she smiled. Her boss is saving her!
“What? Why would I apologize to that woman? Are you nuts?”
Detti shrug her shoulders.
“You may go back to the kitchen now, Ernie, let me accompany these brutes.”
Ernie nodded and turns her back to go the kitchen. Jade went to her immediately when she saw her.
“What happened? What did boss said? Are you okay? I heard what that man said; he wanted our boss to fire you. Oh my, you really need this job, right?”
Ernie felt mad. That rude man was not thinking about what would happen to a poor person like her if she will lose this job. She didn’t saw any hesitation when he said that to her boss. It seems like he’s been used of saying the word ‘fire’.
Thank God that my boss didn’t listen and she even stands up for me.
“It was about earlier when I pointed a finger to that customer. He knows boss, he’s boss’ cousin.”
“Oh, my and what did our boss said?” Jade asked.
“She talked back to her cousin for me. I told her the truth why I pointed my finger and got mad. I said that that man almost hit me with his car and he didn’t even apologize.”
