I looked and he is staring by the marks of a ruler in my pale skin.
“I it’s from uhmm…” I stuttered.
“Don’t lie Melpy. Tell me where or who you get this from.” My dad commanded in a harsh voice that me cringe.
I told him how I saw a vision and warned Terry and how she hit me repeatedly with her ruler. After I told my story, my dad is dead quiet.
“Dad?” I looked at his pained face as he hugs me closer.
“After this school year I will transfer you again to another school, until we find a place where you can’t be hurt. It’s my entire fault. I’m sorry, Melpy.”
I smiled and kissed my dad on the cheeks, “Aww, Dad, don’t be. I’m all right. Besides, I hope what I saw will not really happen.”
He smiled a little and put me down. He resumed his cooking as we chatted for a while.
“Dad, can you tell me what mom looks like now?” I asked as we are eating spaghetti and garlic break for dinner.
My dad didn’t answer quickly but instead looked serious and hesitant.
“Your mother is a very beautiful woman to me. She has the same pale, white skin like yours and a long messy hair just like you have now. You look like her you know. The way your eyes looks like it will cry any moment. It made me feel protective when we first met. But you have my red brown eyes at least.” He said while his eyes were far away as if reminiscing the past.
“Where did you meet?” I asked eagerly. After all these years my dad refused to answer my questions but curiously, he seemed to be eager to feed me the information.
My dad smiled a little and it made him looked a dashing teenager, “We met at a cinema house, we are sitting side by side as we watched a dramatic movie, she is crying and suddenly she leaned her head on me and held my hand. After the film we ate outside and…”
“And what?”
“You were born.” My dad said simply.
I pouted as he grinned at me teasingly, “But you were just fifteen back then right?”
“Yep. I am young and wild and free. Little did I know that a year after we first met, you will appear on my doorstep with a letter saying that you are our daughter and she died in a very tragic and heartbreaking accident and went to heaven sent by uhm, Olympic Orphanage. I looked at you and when you opened your eyes, I knew you were mine, so there you have it.” My dad finished as he took our dishes and cleaned them.
“Do you love her?” I asked out of curiosity.
“Yep. The only woman I will love for my life. Why? Because she gave you to me. That’s why you will never, ever gonna have a new mommy. Your mom will always be her. Now, that’s for the story little princess, go up, brush your teeth and change your clothes. Sleep early.”
I nodded and stood up, “Good night, Dad.”
“Good night my cute little Melpy.” Dad said as he kissed me in the forehead and return to washing the dishes.

“Have you heard? Terry Sanders got hit on the head with a baton by the girl she is teasing yesterday.”
“Yes, a kid told me that that odd fat girl from her section cursed Terry but that’s not all. The handsome kid from 3-A? He got ganged upon by thugs last night! Thank goodness, he didn’t die! All he got are bruises and broken arm. A kid from his section told me that Strife girl cursed him too!”
“I knew there is something odd with that girl. Sometimes she dozes off in my class and she started spouting warnings and nonsense! I heard that mothers are getting afraid and the principal will expel her.”
“That girl is a witch! Believe me, look at her eyes! It glows red whenever she dozes off! Her dad is a looker but I bet they are evil. I am getting scared now.”
“Be quiet that Strafe girl is sitting behind us she might hear us and we got hexed!”
Too late… I already heard them… Even my teachers are calling me a witch now or monster. Even my classmates are afraid to talk to me…
Later that afternoon, my dad suddenly arrived to school and head straight to my classroom. Without a word, he scooped me up, carries my bag and brought me out of the campus.
We were riding his car on our way home when he suddenly talked.
“Melpy, don’t believe them, okay? You are not a witch or a monster or whatever; you’re special, even from them.” My dad said as tears began welling his eyes.
I nodded and smiled, “You will not send me to a mental hospital or therapists?”
“Never, we will just get you out of Texas and we will find a new place out there. Don’t worry, daddy has money. We can get a nice house and the things you always want all right?” Dad said as we drove across the street and into the farm.
“All I want dad is to stop seeing things. But I guess it’s beyond our control, right?” I asked him as we reached our house.
“Yes… But for now. Rest, while daddy will fix our next home, okay?”
I nodded and headed to my bedroom.

FOUR YEARS LATER
“Don’t talk to her! She is a witch! Heard what happened when she said that Judy will trip on the park and break her nose? It happened!”
“Maybe because Judy is so jealous on her looks that she punished her?”
“Well, I can’t argue with that. Damn she is beautiful. Even I am jealous. She is tall and beautiful. Her hair is messy but boys find it hot. But her eyes, it’s evil!”
“Shhh... Quiet she is sitting behind us… She might hex us!”
I slammed my book loudly and the gossiping girls behind me yelped in surprise. I stood up and looked head for the table of those nosy girls and smiled sarcastically at them…
“If I were you, instead of gossiping about a girl who is called a witch, I will remember to check my shoe laces before going out of school or I may trip and dirty my clothes…” I said in a fake concerned voice.
After that, I walked away and out of the library. The seas of students in the corridor parted like I was Moses on the exodus as I walked pass them. They shrink at my gaze or ran when I am near them.
I arched my eyebrow higher and pulled my chin up as if I own the place. Well, I really do own the place. Everyone who messes with me gets a glimpse on the incoming tragedy of their life.
Oh, and you are still reading the same story Mari, it’s me, Melpy, now thirteen years old, sexy, beautiful and dangerous. The witch of damage as others called me. The title I carry with pride and dignity.
What happened? I reformed myself after two years of struggle of my poor young father finding a school that will not hurt or ridicule me. I watched sadly as my dad repeatedly transfers me from school to school without even complaining. I realized that we will never find that school on earth because it didn’t exist in the first place. So instead of being ridiculed and slandered, I became the one who is doing ridiculing and slandering. I didn’t know it feels this good when everyone is afraid and respects you out of fear. No longer was I the fat good-natured child who loves being hurt. Now, I am a confident teenager who is a mistress of pain to anyone who gets in my way.
I was walking when a bitchy blond girl threw a gum on the tile I was about to step to. I saw it so I stopped before I stepped in it.
“Hello Laury. Nice day, isn’t it?” I said in a sarcastic kind voice.
She smiled at me and said, “You don’t scare me bitch.”
“Oh really, then I beg your pardon!” I said an apology thick with sarcasm as I felt my head go woozy. I didn’t need to close my eyes anymore. As I get older, I learned how to force myself to act normal even if I get visions and keep my mind and body working as I am seeing one. Multitasking!
I saw in my mind’s eye that Laury will trip on her own super-high stilettos and her face will fell on an open trash can of biodegradable junk.
I smiled sweetly to her, “Sorry I didn’t scare you, but I’m sure you will learn after getting intimate with a garbage can. Ciao!”
I waved my hand as I walked pass her and her gaggle of friends.
She tried to follow me but she tripped and fell face first in the garbage can and screamed. The other students gaze at me in absolute fear as I smiled sweetly at them.
