"Sorry. We already have someone in mind for that position. " The HR Manager of La Vida Ristorante gave me an apologetic smile.
I nodded and adjusted my eyeglasses. I bowed politely and held my plastic envelope tightly as I slowly made my way out of their restaurant.
I was busy submitting my applications around my apartment's vicinity and I still wasn't successful.
With only my bag and a low-key phone and a couple of money with me, I sighed as I made a mental note where I can satisfy my hunger before scouting for a job.
I went to the nearest fast food chain and had my late lunch eaten as I watched people being taken cared of by their loved ones.
Mothers feeding their children, grandparents taking care of each others' needs, and lovers busy giving out their time and love for one another.
Me? I'm all alone.
I do not want to wallow in misery but this situation pushes me into one.
I ate the last bite of my burger and snapped back on my bag and held my credentials tightly.
I have no time to feel pity for myself. I still have work to process before this day ends.
Clutching the envelope in my grasp, I blinked twice hoping to remove the dust that seems to sweep right thru my glasses.
I stepped aside to avoid blocking the entrance to the fast food chain where I was at.
I removed my eyeglasses and wiped them clean using the tip of my blouse.
I was wearing one of my two pairs of black slacks and a black and white collared blouse.
As soon as I was satisfied with the clarity of my line of sight, I left the place.
I was done applying for nearest restaurants from my apartment, El Fabuloso, La Vida and Amici. All are of renowned origins.
I don't know what's wrong with me and why can't they hire me.
I graduated from college with a notable background. How come, I was left rejected?
Then, I remembered. Oh, yes. I have an impairment.
I didn't have the energy to roam around so I returned to my apartment not too far from the fastfood chain.
With only a tiny amount of energy left, I bought foods from mini stop enough to fill in my stomach for this afternoon.
I said and grabbed her belongings from the floor.
"Salamat."
"Welcome." I said.
"Teka! Pwede ba kitang imbitahan maghapunan mamaya? Pasasalamat sa pagtulong sa akin. " She said and smiled.
I started to smile too.
" Sure. I said and her smile became wide.
She nodded happily and told me to come by at seven. I bid my goodbyes and entered my own place.
I sighed when I was finished sorting out the fruits and veggies which I placed inside my refrigerator as well as those I bought from mini stop.
I realized that my older brother left his microwave oven here so I decided to bake something for our dessert later.
I smiled, thinking I might have found a friend in her.
