Chapter 18

Lori's POV

Nang makarating kami sa bahay ay agad na kaming nag impake. Nagpaiwan naman si Kyle doon sa hospital para ipaalam si Leo. I know Leo is sad about what happened but I do everything to make him happy. I just want to see him smile.

"Leo." Tawag ko sa kanya habang tahimik siyang nag iimpake. Nakaupo siya sa sahig.

"Mmm?"

"You can rest if you want." Sabay upo ko sa likuran niya at niyakap siya. Mukhang pagod siya. It's not physically, it's emotionally though.

"I'm sorry, Lori. I don't know what to do right now. It just blank."

"Do you trust me?" Tanong ko sabay halik sa balikat niya.

"What?"

"Do you?"

"O-of course."

Kumalas ako sa pagkakayakap at kinuha ang cellphone ko. I dialed someone.

"Atty! How are you?! I thought, you will never contact me. I called you many times but you always declined it! Why?! Why?! How could you do that to your big brother?!" Nilayo ko naman sa tenga ko ang cellphone.

"Will you shut up? Nabibingi ako sayo, eh."

"I'm sorry, Atty. You know naman kung gaano ka kamahal ng kuya ko diba? I just missed you, princess."

"Can I ask you a favor?" Tanong ko.

"Of course anything."

"I want a house."

"Oh, you want a house. Okay. Pipoli na ako ng pinakamagandang mansion."

"No, Sariel. Just a simple house with 3-4 rooms, with a kitchen and second floor."

"A mansion?"

"No!" Napatingin naman sa akin si Leo dahil sa pagsigaw ko. "No. Just a simple house."

"With a pool?"

"Uhm... wait."

"Do you want our house to have pool?" Tanong ko kay Leo. Nagulat naman siya sa tanong ko.

"I can't afford a pool, Lori."

"Yeah, a pool." Saad ko sa telepono.

"Okay. Garden?"

"Yes, please."

"Anything else?"

"Parking lot."

"Okay. I got it. I know just the right house for you. But wait sino ang titira doon kasama mo-"

Pinatay ko na yun.

"Lori, I can't afford a house with garden, pool and parking lot. Right now. We should save money, right?" Natawa naman ako at niyakap siya.

"Don't worry. It's on me now." Sabay halik ko sa labi niya at umalis.

Kyle's POV

I shouldn't be here! Sana sumama nalang ako kina Leo. Ayoko rito! Napaka intence rito. Kanina pa kami rito pero si lolo nakatingin lang sa amin.

"Dad, should we-"

"Stop." Tigil ni lolo kay dad sa pagsasalita. "We are still waiting for someone."

"Who?"

"Leo and Lori."

Nagkatinginan naman silang lahat.

"Dad, pinalayas ko na si Leo." Saad ni Tito Leon.

"He's a disgrace to our family, father."dagdag ni tita Lily.

"She choose that woman between his family! His own blood!"

"That woman Lori pointed a g*n to my daughter!" Saad naman ni Tita Rey.

"She only did that-"

"Kyle, shut up." Saad naman ni dad. Kinagat ko ang labi ko. Kainis naman, oh! Pinapasama nila si Lori!

"So, pinalayas mo siya?" Tanong ni lolo. "Okay. Where are they now?"

"We don't know but I think they are still at the house. Nag iimpake." Sabi ni tito Leon.

Tumango naman si lolo at napatingin sa akin.

Shit!

"Kyle."

"Don't kill me!"

"I won't, idiot. Come here." Lumabas ako sa CR at dahan dahan na lumapit kay lolo.

"Yeah?"

"Why are you hiding?"

"No. I'm not hiding. I just want the CR because it's cooler there."

Bumuntong hininga namam siya at napailing.

"I called you here because I want to tell you that I will divide my money to my grandchildren fair and square."

Nagsigawan naman ang pinsan ko sa saya.

"You should be thankful to Leo. If he didn't declined my money, I wouldn't be dividing it right now."

"Don't think about Leo, dad. He's not worth it."

Ngumisi naman si lolo. "No. It's worth it. It's really worth it. If you don't want Leo, I can adopt him as my son."

Nanlaki ang mata ko sabay nang pagsinghap ng mga kasama ko sa kwarto.

"You'll see. But let's change the topic. Benjamin has something to tell me. What is it?"

"Dad, nagpa-plano kami na pagandahin ang relasyon ng pamilya Verzosa at pamilya Zambroso. They are great asset, dad."

"You are planning to have a meeting with them?"

"Yes."

"You are planning to make one of my grandchildren marry one of the Zambroso's?"

"Yes. So, I want to ask, Dad, if you can pull a meeting for us with the Zambroso?"

"No. Can't do. After the incident 14 years ago. I doubt it."

Nag iwas naman ako ng tingin? Why do they want to have a connection with them? Nananahimik na nga sila, eh.

"But they invited the Verzosa Family to the 50th birthday of Quivan Zambroso."

"Really?!"

"That's great!"

"We can make our move that day!"

"I doubt that." Bulong ni lolo na ako lang nakarinig. Tiningnan ako ni lolo at napakaseryoso niya. "You should go too. Apologize to them as a man. You can't run away forever Kyle."

"Yes, lolo."

"I know, you know where Lori and Leo are going, so, please tell Lori that I want to talk to her." Tumango naman ako.

"Yes, lolo. Of course." But why though? What does he wants from her? Can I ask him? Will he get angry? Will he kill me for asking? "Uhm... lolo. Why do you want to talk to Lori?" Tumingin naman siya sa akin at ngumiti.

"Do you wanna die, Kyle?"

"No. Of course not."

I should find a house. Naghanap ako ng bahay sa internet pero masyado siyang mahal at di namin afford. Syempre titira ako sa bahay ni Leo at Lori. Wala na akong babalikan sa resthouse nila tito Leon. Ayoko dun. I can't live without Kiel or Leo by my side.

I searched a house but it's too expensive.

I want a house with pool and second floor but we can't afford it. Then I got a message from Lori saying that they brought a house already. She send the address.

Agad na akong nag impake at pumunta sa address nayun.

"I think I'm lost." Saad ko habang nagmamaneho. Anlalaki kasi ng mga bahay rito. Di na nga ito matatawag na sinpleng bahay. Kumunit ang noo ko nang makita si Lori at Leo sa kalsada habang nakatingin sa isang malaking bahay.

"Hey, guys! Why are you staring at the big house? Pangarap na bahay?" Sabay tabi ko kay Leo at tiningnan ang bahay. "It's really big. I wonder who lived there, must be a millionaire or something. Did someone lived there? Hey, where's your house?" Tanong ko kay Leo.

"I'm not sure." Saad niya.

Lori's POV

That idiot!

This is a very big house! I told him to make it simple!

Kinuha ko ang cellphone ko at tinawagan si Sariel.

"What are you thinking?! I want simple one! This is a very big house!"

"Oh, I thought you want simple, princess. So, I bought it."

"This is simple for you?!" Sabay tingin ko sa malaking bahay na nasa harapan namin.

"Princess, I know, you know, that you deserved more than that. It's small one compare to what I want for you."

I wonder what he wants.

Bumuntong hininga nalang.

"Thank you."

"Ayieeee. You're welcome, princess. I'll do anything to make you happy."

Pinatay ko na ang tawag at humarap kina Leo.

"Well, this is our house." Saad ko at pumasok na sa loob.

"Lori, are you sure? How did you afford this?" Tanong ni Leo.

"Did you buy this, Lori."

"Of course not. It's a gift from a friend."

"A friend?"

"Yeah." Sabay ngiti ko.

Leo's POV

"This is a very big house." Saad ko na di pa nakakamove on. "This is bigger than our house."

"Dito na tayo titira?" Tanong ni Kian na kararating lamang kasama si Yoyo.

"Yeah." Sabay iwas ng tingin ni Lori. "I have to make a call."

Tumango naman ako.

"Oh, I'm going to check out my room." Saad naman ni Kyle at umalis.

"Oh! Me too!"

Naiwan kami ni Yoyo sa counter table. I don't want to talk to him but it's awkward not to talk to him.

"Leo."

"Mmm?"

Nakapangalumbaba siya at mataman akong tiningnan.

"Is this alright with you?"

"No. This is a big house. I'm worried what Lori did to afford it."

"Not that. Don't worry about the house. But it is alright to you, Kyle living here?"

"Of course. Why not? Lori said yes too."

"And it's alright with you?" Gulat na tanong niya.

"What do you mean by that? He's my cousin."

"Oh no. You didn't know are you?"

"Know what?"

"Kyle is Lori's ex fiancee."
