As we left the library, I continued to think about what Xenon had said. "Let us uncover the secrets of your destiny."
A part of me was pulled to the mystery and adventure that appeared to surround him, but I wasn't sure what to make of him.
"We have to get out of the city," Xenon remarked to me as we entered the dazzling sunlight. I want you to meet this person."
I wasn't sure if I should trust him, so I paused. However, I found that his words struck a chord with me. Perhaps it was the excitement of the unknown, or perhaps it was the promise of answers.
"Who is it?" I inquired as my curiosity overcame me.
"Someone who can help you understand your connection to the moon," said Xenon, his eyes shining with a subtle sparkle of anticipation.
I gave a nod, and we headed out of town together. Towering structures gave way to undulating hills and thick woodlands. The only sounds we heard while walking were the distant calls of birds and the rustle of foliage. Xenon paused in front of a huge stone gate as the sun started to set, bathing the surrounding area in a warm orange hue.
A vast mansion tucked away in the middle of the forest was revealed as the gates opened.
Xenon said, "Welcome to the Oracle's Sanctum," in a tone of respect.
The Oracle? She was a powerful and clever seer who knew the ancient arts, according to the accounts I had heard. A figure stepped out of the darkness as we entered the sanctum. Her eyes gleamed with an unearthly intensity, and she was dressed in flowing white robes.
"Ah, Xenon," she remarked in a melodic voice. "I see you've brought the moonlit maiden." Xenon gave a nod, and the Oracle looked at me. "Leandra is a moonchild. I've been anticipating your arrival. "
The Oracle's eyes appeared to pierce my soul, sending a chill down my spine. What secrets did she possess? What was she aware of my association with the moon? The Oracle's face became solemn.
"The reckoning moment is drawing near. The balance of power in Aethereia is threatened by a dark force that is stirring.
I noticed a glimmer of worry as Xenon's gaze met mine. "We need to prepare Leandra for what's coming," he stated.
The Oracle gave a nod. "I'll instruct her in the moon's ways.
She must first face her own uncertainties and anxieties, though. Uncertain of what was ahead, I swallowed hard. However, with Xenon and the Oracle at my side, I felt a surge of resolve. I was prepared to take on any obstacles that might arise. There was a sense of mystery and dread in the air as the Oracle spoke. As I stared into her sharp eyes, a chill went through my body. What was "the time of reckoning" to her? And what was this evil entity that endangered Aethereia's power structure? As if sensing my discomfort, Xenon put a comforting hand on my shoulder.
His words, "Don't worry, Leandra," "We'll face whatever comes next together."
The Oracle's face softened a little as she nodded. "Yes, youngster. You will require as much assistance as possible. There will be many risks along the way, but there will also be many opportunities. She looked over at Xenon.
"Bringing her here was a wise move on your part. I'll start her training right away."
With his eyes fixed on mine, Xenon nodded. "I'll be here to support her every step of the way."
The Oracle grinned, amusement glimmering in her eyes. "Xenon, I believe Leandra is capable of more than you think. However, your assistance will undoubtedly be illuminating. I was keen to find out more about my relationship to the moon and the forces that appeared to be rising in Aethereia, even though I wasn't sure what to make of the Oracle's enigmatic remarks. The Oracle gave me several lessons on how to use my magical powers over the course of the following few hours. She taught me how to direct my energy, harness the force of the moon, and protect myself from danger. The Oracle announced that our training session was ended for the day as the sun began to set, bathing the sky in a warm orange glow.
Her eyes glistened with anticipation as she declared, "Tomorrow, we will begin to explore the depths of your magic."
"But for now, rest and prepare yourself for what's to come."
I nodded as a wave of fatigue passed over me. Although the training had been rigorous, it had also been thrilling. I was eager to see what would happen the following day. Xenon fell into step next to me as I walked back to my apartments.
With his gaze fixed on mine, he inquired, "How are you feeling?"
Unsure of how to respond, I paused. I was experiencing a range of feelings, including dread, uncertainty, and exhilaration. Above all, though, I was experiencing a feeling of resolve. I was committed to discovering more about my relationship with the moon and to overcoming any obstacles that might arise. I finally said, "I'm feeling...ready," in a firm voice.
With his eyes wrinkled at the corners, Xenon grinned. "Leandra, I believe you're more than prepared. I believe you're only beginning. "
My Oracle training got more intense as the days went by. I gained knowledge on how to use my magic, manage the moon's power, and protect myself from danger. Xenon was always there, keeping an eye on me and providing support and direction. However, even though I was making progress, I couldn't get rid of the uneasy feeling. Xenon was acting more and more strangely, and the Oracle seemed to be keeping something from me.
I saw Xenon slinking out of the sanctum one evening as I was making my way back to my lodgings. Curiosity overcame me and I followed him. A gang of mysterious creatures waited for me in a little glade tucked away in the woodland. As I got closer, Xenon's eyes met mine, and they appeared to be whispering something.
"Leandra, what are you doing here?" His voice was urgent and low as he asked. A wave of rage and betrayal washed over me.
"Xenon, what are you doing? "
"Who are these individuals?"
As the figures advanced, a group of rebels engaged in combat with the ruling council came into view. They wanted to take the throne and overturn the council, and Xenon was helping them achieve this. I felt conflicted. I was hesitant to get engaged in politics, but I also wanted to support their cause.
"What do you want from me?" With a forceful voice, I asked.
Xenon took a step forward, his intense eyes blazing. "Leandra, we would like you to come along. To help us overthrow the council and seize the kingdom, we want you to use your magic."
Uncertain of what to do, I hesitated. However, I realized I had to make a choice when I met Xenon's gaze. My Oracle training got more intense as the days went by.
