All he sees is white ceiling. He tries to move his legs but his body is aching. He moves his head slowly and glance at his hand instead only to find that he has dextrose on his right hand. Right then, he confirms that he's in the hospital. What puzzles him more is that he can't remember why he's hospitalized. Suddenly, there are two faces of unfamiliar people getting closer and closer to him. They position opposite from each other on his bed side. What startles him is that these two women look at him closely as if searching something from his whole being. Then they look at each other and then again at him. Both are shaking their heads. He wants to react but he's still lacking strength.
"Oh my, mao ba giyod ni siya?" the woman on his left says.
("Oh my, is it really him?" the woman on his left says.)
"Sigurado giyod ko. Di ko puwedeng masayop," the woman on right replies.
("I'm pretty sure. I can't be wrong," the woman on his right says.)
"W-who are you people?" he says puzzling.
"Dude, seriously? You don't remember? You bumped into me and I stumbled on the ground. I sprained my ankle but you ran away without saying sorry, " Angie relates what happened.
"Really? Then why am I here lying on this bed? I think am harmed more than you," he rebuts making the two women gaping in surprise. They can't believe the attitude of this man!
"This ungrateful bastard! Is it okay to punch a patient?" Anna is attempting to punch him.
"Look here. For your information, that was a week ago. You were in an accident last night. We brought you here hoping you'll still live. Of all places, why on earth you crashed near in our place? And in case you missed it, I forcedly use my sprained ankle taking you down here. Now I can't work for a month. Congratulations, you took away my chance of regaining our lodging house," Angie gets emotional. After hearing these words, Liam feel sad. He stares blankly for few seconds.
"Did I do that? I'm so sorry. I can't remember," he seems surprise of his past deeds.
"Hey, white potato. That won't work. The damaged had done," Angie says.
"What did you just call me?"
"White potato. Is there a problem?" Angie emphasizes the the first sentence.
"Hey, I have a name. I am... I am," he's trying to recall his name but he just can't. Anna snorts thinking that this man is just making alibi.
"Oh come on, don't play dumb," Anna says.
"I'm not. I really can't remember my name," he says helplessly.
"Let's go, sweetie. I think he's fine. Let him settle his expenses alone," Anna suggesting her to leave the room and when they are about to leave he speaks.
"I really don't know my name! Who am I and why you look so different? Where's this country? What am I doing here?" he starts panicking.
Angie rolls her eyes in amazement and look at his direction again.
"Seriously? I won't buy it. Have a nice life," Angie says.
"He's not lying. Maybe concussion makes him temporarily loss his memory," the doctor says while entering the room.
"What!" The three simultaneously replies. They are shock to that statement.
"Hi, I'm Doctor Reyes you're attending physician. How do I call you, since you don't remember your name?" the doctor says as he is getting closer to the patient.
"I hear you have American accent so I'll call you Mr. American instead," the doctor continues.
"Thanks for attending me, doc," he replies.
"I have here the result of your CT Scan and and everything is fine. Just that you have some bruises and minor injuries. You can be discharged in three days. But the problem is I think you have a temporary amnesia, maybe due to your shock."
"When will I regain my memory?" he asks. On the other hand, they two women really want to go out.
"Uhm, excuse us doc. Di na man siguro mi kinahanglan pa diri. Puwede molakaw na lang mi?" Angie interrupts.
("Uhm, excuse us doc. I think you don't need our presence here. Can we go now?" Angie interrupts.)
"Okay. Thanks for your help," the doctor replies. They are about to leave again when Liam speaks.
"Hey, thank you so for all you've done. I might lose my memory but I'm not that ungrateful. I'll pay you back someday," he says. However the two women remain silent then they take their way out of the room.
"Where are we? Ah yes. Well, about your memory I can't give you definite answer. It depends on which or what thing can trigger your memory to come back."
"What am I going to do then?" he innocently asks.
"Well for now, get better faster," the doctor tap his shoulder to comfort him.
"Oh by the way doc, I really, have nothing. Not even wallet or cellphone."
"Well, the incident is already reported to the police. Maybe the motorcycle you used is now impounded. You can check it with the owner later on and then probably you can recover your stuff."
"Thank you doc."
"Welcome. Oh wait, that woman who brought you here last night, I thought he is your wife. She's really worried about you last night," the doctor relates to him.
"Really? Well, she said I bumped into her last week and I ran away without saying sorry. She sprained her ankle at that incident and was triggered last night after sending me here," he sounds guilty.
"Aw. No wonder she's behaving that way."
"I'm ashamed of my past me."
"You still have a second chance to readjust things. Alright, I have to go. If you need anything just call the nurse, okay?"
"Okay. Thank you so much, doc."
He's feels guilty of what he did to that woman. He didn't even got her name. He has nothing, he knows no one, not even himself. He doesn't even know where to start.
Someone knocks at the door that catches his attention.
"Good morning. I'm Inspector Gomez. I'd like to ask few questions regarding your accident," the police officer walks in.
"Please come in, Sir," he replies.
"As much as I want to answer everything you'll ask, but I'm afraid I can't. I have temporary amnesia. I don't even know my own identity," he opens the conversation right away so it will not take long. He feels tired. Tired of being unable to remember his identity and tired of being helpless.
"I'm so sorry to hear that, mister. Oh by the way, we searched the area of the accident and we found your backpack. We found clothes and your action camera." The police put the bag on the bed near where he's lying.
"Thank you, but are that all you found? Haven't you found my cellphone or my wallet?" he asks.
"We searched thoroughly but there is no wallet, nor cellphone."
Hearing those words makes him vulnerable.
"Don't worry, I will help you. Oh wait, how about the person who brought you here?"
"I don't even know their names," he laugh bitterly.
"Oh really. Well, before I go, can you please try to open the camera? Let's take a look and find relevant details."
Then they watch the videos on the camera together. Sadly, those videos are just sceneries of some beautiful spots he had been. Not even a single hint of the place he's staying. So police officer proceeds and promise him to investigate further on how he got to the hospital in order to find something helpful for finding his identity.
