My Little Valdez

The Presentation

Arvin and Devyn are at the back of the stage waiting for their turn to perform.

Its their schools annual talent show and Devyn really wanted to join. But she's acting shy so she hooks her twin brother with her plan. Arvin, being her loving brother, has no choice but to agree.

Devyn sits on a plastic chair while biting her nails and Arvin peeks at the crowd to check if their awaited person has arrived.

"A, is Mama Ly around already?" Devyn asks her brother.

Arvin looked back and saw her sister's teary eyes. "Not yet D. But I know she'll come. Just trust her." He showed her an assuring smile.

Devyn nodded and smiled weakly. She gets back on biting her nails. Arvin knows that her sister is nervous. Especially now that they have not yet receive their good luck kiss from their Mama Ly.

Every event in their life, whether its Devyn's piano recital or Arvin's basketball game, they receive good luck kiss from both parents. Its their own ritual. Aly and Den never miss those important events in their childrens lives.

"Arvin and Devyn Valdez?" One of the teachers asked.

"Were here maam" Arvin raised his hand.

"Oh, get ready you two. You're next" she smiled.

"Yes maam" Arvin looks at his sister "Hey D, lets start their calling us now. Are you ready?"

"Honestly? No. I am not ready and never will be unless our good luck kiss is complete! Wheres Mama Ly?!" And Devyn was about to throw her tantrums again but--

Arvin hugs her tight. "Devyn, I know that we have work our butts off on this presentation, especially me." Devyn giggled "And we need to show them that. I know that Mama Ly would be very proud of the both of us even if we did this not receiving her kiss right?" He saw Devyn nod "And dont worry, anjan nman si Mommy Den sa labas eh."

"Okay A. I'll try my best" She half smiled.

"Let us welcome our second presenter, the Valdez Twins!" The host said.

"Go, go, go" one of the staff said guided the two to the stage.

Arvin and Devyn entered the stage hand in hand. Then they went to the center and bowed together. Arvin looked at his sister to check if she's okay and to his surprise, his sister's face is beaming.

He traced at where she's looking and saw their Mama Ly walking towards her designated chair while waving and smiling at them. She found her seat and before sitting, she gave her twins flying kisses.

Arvin catches it in the air and places it on his forehead. Devyn did the same. And they both had their victory smiles on.

Then Roar by Katty Perry played in the background. It signals them to start their presentation. They did an interpretative dance of roar, how they did it? I dont really know how Devyn pulled it off.

Devyn of course was dancing cheerfully and gracefully while her twin brother, Arvin, tried his best to wiggle his whole body in sync with the music. Both looked really cute and adorable that they got the crowds deafening claps and yells.

After their dance they went back to the back stage and saw their parents looking so proud at them.

"Come here babies! Both of you are so great!" Den said and filled her daughter and son's face with kisses.

"Thanks Mommy Den!" Both said in unison.

Its Aly's turn now and she carried both of them in her arms. "I'm so proud of you Devyn" kissed her daughter cheek "Especially you Arvin! I never thought you could shake your butt like that" she added and kissed her son's cheek.

Devyn laughed hard while Dennise weakly smiled. Aly saw that but just ignored it. Dennise has been behaving cold towards her ever since she arrived. She acted really cold towards Aly.

Arvin pouted and said "You're such a tease Mama Ly! I just did that for Devyn's sake!"

"And I am even more proud because of that" She smiled genuinely to his son. "Sorry kids if nalate ako. Its so traffic going here sa school niyo eh. But luckily, umabot nman ako"

"You're right Mama Ly! Just the right time po!" Devyn said then kissed her cheek.

"Uhm... excuse me parents, bawal po kayo dito. Please get back to your seat" A teacher said to them.

"Kids were going now, behave kayo dito even though tapos na kayo okay?" Den reminded her twins.

"Yes mommy!" They kissed each others cheek.

"Kids since you did well today, were dining out! Anywhere you want! See you later!"

"Yeheeey!" Both cheered and kissed Aly.

Aly and Den are walking back to their chair when Aly tried to hold her wife's hand. But before Aly could, Den shove her hand away and walked faster ahead than Aly. Aly was surprised on what just happened.

"Kids what do you want to eat?" Aly asks the twins as she drives.

"I want pizza po!" Devyn screamed in excitement.

"Okay. So shakeys tayo?"

"But I want burger Mama Ly" Arvin even showed his puppy eyes to his mother.

"No! Pizza!" Devyn inserted.

"Burger!" Arvin replied.

"Pizza!"

"Burger!"

"Pi!zza!"

"Bur!ger!"

"Okay okay, enough you two." Den stops the two. "Lets take out pizza and burger nlang then we'll eat it at home. We can even watch movie while eating." She suggested.

"Movie while eating?! This is the best dinner eveeeeer!" Arvin celebrated. He even shakes his sisters shoulders.

"A can you stop shaking me?! Nahihilo na ako!" Devyn protested.

"Sorry sorry baby, I just got carried away. Hehe. " Arvin while scratching his nape.

"Oh behave na you two. Papaliparin ko na tong sasakyan para mabilis na tayong makauwi." Aly giggled.

Dennise didnt like the idea. She glared at Aly and coldly said "Slowdown Alyssa."

Aly heard this and was surprise because she was called by her first name. She grabbed the opportunity in taking Dennise's hand because of the red light. She asked nervously.

"Is something wrong?" She whispered so that the twins wont hear it.

"Nothing." Den swat her hands off Aly and looked out the window.

Aly was about to ask again but the light turned green. I'll talk to her later. She thought.

Upon reaching the nearest mall, the family split up. Dennise and Devyn went to shakeys and ordered three boxes of different flavored pizzas. While Alyssa and Arvin went to wendys and bought lots of burgers.

Aly and Arvin was walking back to the parking lot when Aly notice her son suddenly stop. She looks at where Arvin's attention was and saw an ice cream parlor.

She bent down and smiled "You want ice cream buddy?"

Arvin nodded "Yes mama Ly! I want it so much!"

Aly and Arvin ran fast the ice cream parlor but the little one was faster. He accidentally bump on a lady causing her to be off her balance. Alyssa immediately catches the lady and apologized.

"I'm really sorry miss. My son was not-" And Aly stopped talking when she saw who it was.

Their eyes were locked with each other. Electricity ran through their veins. Breathes were hold and heart beats were exploding. Still the same feeling they had many years ago until now.

"A! Kayo pala yan!" Devyn's sharp voice popped their little intimate world.

Dennise stood back on her feat and sorted her dress. Her face was a bit red so she looks down. Aly on the other hand, looked away because she herself is blushing.

"Uy D, its you." He smiled at his sister then frowned "Kung nandito ka then the one who I bumped with is..." He slowly shifted his gaze to her mom which is looking, shy?

"Mommy are you okay?" Arvin as he approach Dennise.

"Y-yes baby, I'm okay." She smiled.

"Really? Then why is your face red mommy?" Arvin honestly asked which made Aly giggle softly.

"Mainit kasi baby" and threw Aly a glare "Uhm, next time dont run na ha. What if super magalit yung tao nabungo mo or worst, masaktan ka." She changed the topic.

"Yes mommy. Sorry po ulit." And he smiled showing his adorable dimples.

"What are you doing here pala?" She asked Arvin.

"Your son wants ice cream kaya we decided to drop by muna. Then this happened." Aly butt in.

"Okay." She said still looking at Arvin. "Lets go home? We bought the ice cream already." She smiled to her son.

"Talaga? Yehey!" Arvin cheered.

"We better hurry up! Baka matunaw na yung ice cream!" Devyn pulled her family out.

"Devyn, did you brush your teeth na?" Aly asked while peeping at her daughter's room.

"Just finished!" Devyn said and jumped out of her bathroom.

"Very good!"

Alyssa went inside the room and walked to her daughter. She carried Devyn and layed her to bed. While Alyssa is busy sorting her daughters sheets the little one asked a very innocent question.

"Hey mama Ly, are you and mommy Den okay?"

Aly was stunned. She looked at her daughter and creased her forehead.

"Why did you ask?" She managed to smile while running her fingers on her daughters hair.

"Uhm... Its kinda wierd po kasi eh. Mommy isnt super clingy to you po." She rubs her eye.

"Really? Then maybe mommy is just super tired. No worries okay? Mommy and I are good." Aly touched Devyn's cheek and cares it.

"Okay." She smiled then yawned.

"Sleep now baby. Goodnight." She kissed her daughters lips.

"Goodnight mama Ly"

"Mommy Den and I loves you"

"And I love the both of you too!" Devyn hugged Aly's neck.

Alyssa stayed a little while until she made sure that Devyn is already asleep. As soon as she made sure, she walked back to their room.

When Aly entered their room she saw Dennise drying her hair with a blower infront of the mirror.

"Devyn's asleep."

"Uhm." Den coldly whispered. "Arvin is too."

Alyssa approached her wife and placed her hands on the latters shoulder. Dennise was startled a bit. She looked into the mirror to see Aly.

"Den, do we have a problem?" Aly calmly asked.

"Yes we do." Den said and stood up. She walked to the bed and sat at the edge.

"What is it? Can you tell me cause I dont have any idea about it." She sigh. "Devyn asked me if were okay and I just had to lie to her and said yes, were okay. I dont want our kids to think that were fighting hon."

"Arvin asked me earlier too. And I had to lie too." Den averted her eyes.

"See? Lets talk about this, please." Aly said and kneeled infront of Den.

"Okay." She said which made Aly smile.

The two headed to the bed and sat at the middle of it. They faced each other and holds both their hands making a small circle in between them.

"Bakit ka galit sakin?" Aly started.

"I am not mad. Nagtatampo lang." She looked down.

"Okay. Let me rephrase it then." Aly smiled which earned her a hit on her shoulder. "Bakit ka nagtatampo?"

"Because you are so busy. And I dont want our kids to feel that I'm their only parent. Gusto ko, whenever they achieve something we are there every step of their way."

"So nagtatampo ka cause na late ako?" She asked smiling.

"Not exactly but yes. Alam mo nman na ngayun ang school presentation ng mga anak mo yet you loaded yourself with work parin. I didnt appreciate that hon." Dennise explained.

"Yes I know that and believe me or not I cleared my sched a week ago pa. But things just kept coming. I cant handle the situation at work so I had to be a little bit late. Sorry." Aly cares her wifes cheek.

"Yeah. Sorry din. For acting cold towards you, and for doubting you. Sorry." Den said and placed her forehead to the latter.

"I love you Dennise" she smiled sincerely.

"I love you too Alyssa"

And they kissed each other good night.
