Chapter Two: The Cold Boss

“How many times do I have to tell you? Never entertain that woman again inside my company!” Zachary raised her voice to his secretary Agnes.

“I’m so sorry Sir, Angelica said she’s pregnant and you are the father. And I thought it was important to you.”

“The hell, where is she?” How can that woman get pregnant if he clearly remembers that he used a condom before when he had s*x with Angelica?

“In the lobby,” Agnes said.

Zachary stood up and went straight to the lobby. He saw Angelica wearing sunglasses. When the woman saw him she immediately ran and hugged him.

“I missed you,” Angelica said.

“Are you pregnant?” he asked directly when he pulled her.

“I think so,” the woman answered.

Zachary never said anything. He grabbed the woman's shoulder and they went out to company. His driver immediately came in front of him with the car.

“Get in,” he said when the driver opened the door of the car.

“Where are we going?” the woman curiously asked.

“In the clinic, I want to verify if you are telling the truth or not,” he said and pushed the woman inside. Zachary was seated beside the driver's seat. “Bring us to the nearest clinic.” They had s*x one month ago. He was pretty sure that he used a condom and it was not even damaged. After their s*x, he drove Angelica to her apartment.

“This is such a waste of time, if you are not pregnant, I will kill you,” he threatened the woman.

“What if I am pregnant? Will you accept me and the baby?”

“I will get the baby and kill you,” he was cold.

“You are a demon.”

“Now you regret having s*x with me? I know you are a gold digger bitch.”

The woman was silent because he knew that Angelica was the woman who sold her body to any man. Zachary discovered it when the wallet of the woman forgot her wallet in his room and it was full of calling cards.

“Stop the car!” Angelica shouted. “I am not pregnant, I just want you to give me money because you wrecked my body that night. I have no work for one week because I can’t walk straight,” the woman said.

“Stop the car,” Zachary commanded his driver.

“Here’s my bank account, send me money or I will tell everybody that you had s*x with a prostitute!” The woman left the card with full details of her bank. She opened the car and ran away. Zachary noticed that his driver was looking at him.

“What the hell Dominic, I didn’t know she was a prostitute. And it happens when you are not yet hired,” he explained.

“We are both men, Sir. I understand your need,” the driver said and they went back to the company. When they arrived in the front. He immediately opened the door but Dominic stopped him. “The bank account of the woman.”

“The hell,” he said and grabbed it. He doesn't want to be in the news that a business tycoon and the CEO of more than 20 establishments had s*x with a prostitute. Zachary owned a lot of establishments to be rented. He owned 5 huge malls in different parts of Manila and Makati. He also owned 15 hotels and the rest were resorts in different parts of the Philippines. His greatest achievement was to buy an island in Palawan. Zachary also owned an investor in the fashion industry and agricultural products.

He arrived at his office and immediately called Agnes. He gave the card to his secretary to send Angelica with money.

“Send her one hundred thousand,” he said to his secretary.

“I will call the finance department, Sir.”

Zachary looks at Agnes badly. “That is not related to any business or company transactions for you to include the finance department.”

“I’m sorry, Sir I thought-.”

“Just shut up,” he stopped the woman from speaking. “Give me my phone. I let you handle this to do any transactions or inform me. I even gave you my online banking passcode.”

“I am very Sir. I was too afraid to handle your online banking.”

“Why? Do you steal money?”

“No, no, Sir. I mean, I am afraid that you should trust me fully with your bank account.”

“Just shut up, it only has one million pesos, and it is not a big thing for me.” Zachary heard a heavy sigh from his secretary. “Just get out of my office and do what I say.”

Agnes nodded and immediately went out to his office. Zachary also releases a heavy sigh. This day was too stressful for her. First is Angelica who wasted his 20 minutes. Second is his secretary who sometimes acted dumb. Zachary might be cold and arrogant to his workers but he gave their salary on time with additional bonuses.

“Women are crazy,” he said and continued reading the financial report of the finance department.

He is in the middle of the page of the report when Agnes knocks on his door. He stares at the woman badly because it is quite disturbing.

“I already sent a hundred thousand to Angelica, Sir.”

“Go out and get shopping, you used my card.”

“Sir?” the woman couldn’t believe it.

“You heard me right?”

The woman nodded, “how much will I spend, Sir?”

“It’s up to you. I don’t know about women's stuff.”

“Sir.”

“What?” he raised his voice again.

“Thank you, now I can buy a new bra and panties,” Agnes was too excited and even forgot that she was talking to her boss, “Awe, dress I mean, Sir.”

“Make yourself presentable. You look stressed and haggard. I don’t want to have a secretary that looks like a witch.”

“I will, Sir!”

When Zachary was about to continue reading the report. Her grandfather Sebastian called at him on his laptop. He immediately opened the camera and they talked. It was just their casual talk.

“Have you already found a woman that you will be marrying?” his grandfather asked.

“I have no time for that Lolo, and in fact, I was too busy to look for a partner. And love can wait,” he said. Lolo is a name for all grandfathers in the Philippines.

“But I cannot wait any longer Zachary. I’m getting old. That’s the only wish I have for myself to see you with a happy family and with your children. Your grandmother, mother, and father will no longer see your children. But, I have limited time. I’m getting weaker and weaker, Zach.”

“Lo, I just don’t want to use women to give me a child. And right now, I don’t want to be in a serious relationship.”

“Okay,” his grandfather said with sadness in his voice.

“I’m so-.”

Zachary wasn't able to speak completely because his grandfather ended the call. He sighs heavily again. How can he find a woman who is pure and will love her for the rest of his life?

One thing that prevented him from falling in love with a woman was the company he inherited. He was very busy with his business and making it bigger and bigger. Women can wait. But the opportunity that he will have in business sometimes is a matter of luck. Women are just a headache and they even divide your time. So Zachary should focus on the company instead of looking for a girlfriend.
