I heaved out a happy sigh before I grabbed the comms to contact the base. I'm very excited kahit pa hindi naman ito ang unang beses ko. Everytime I do this, it feels like it's my first time.
"This is Captain Adrianna Orteza, Artemis of Alpha Team, FA50 fighter jet, Philippine Airforce. Asking clearance for take off." Boses ko sa radyo.
"Artemis, this is base. Clearance granted."
"Roger that."
Throttle up to build speed. Check the altimeter once designated height is reached. Pull landing gears off.
I smiled to myself.
I ticked several control buttons before levering the whole jet to a flight. In a swift uplifting rush of a second, I was soaring in thin air - slowly levitating to the atmosphere.
I'm afraid of heights.
