Chapter 6

Amelie's POV

It's been three days since Jamiel is admitted at the hospital. Sinabi ng Doctor na hanggang sampung araw daw ang aabutin para makalabas si Jamiel and during these three days, bawat uwi namin galing trabaho ay binibisita namin si Dave.

"So how are you feeling?" there was silence inside the room when Boss Paul asked Jamiel. Yes, he also wanted to visit Jamiel. Nung nalaman niya na pupunta kami ni Kyla para bumisita, agad siyang nag volunteer na ihatid kami.

Siyempre, tumanggi ako lalo na si Kyla pero in the end, wala kaming nagawa.

"A-Ahmm.. Hahaha, medyo masakit pa po pero nakakatayo naman ako." pansin naman na naiilang si Jamiel.

"M-Ma'am Amelie." I looked at him when I heard him called my name.

"Yes?" 

"K-Kamusta po yung preparations para sa meeting tomorrow?" Kyla looked at me and smiled weakly. I know what that look meant and I know what to do.

"You don't have to worry. Medyo kaunti nalang naman ang trabahong naiwan bago ka naospital so hindi na kami nahirapan." that was a lie, there was a ton of paper works left that we needed to settle.

Honestly, inisip namin na hindi namin matatapos ang preparations without Jamiel kaya naman nagpuyat kami ni Kyla kasama si Boss.

"Mabuti nalang." mukhang nakahinga naman siya ng maluwag pagkatapos kong sabihin yun.  I smiled at Kyla who's nodding her head beside Jamiel.

"So don't worry and just focus on your recovery." wika ni Boss. Jamiel nodded as a response.

Pagkatapos non ay nagkwentuhan kami, mostly si Kyla ang nagsasalita. I am happy, that at least Jamiel looked livelier than usual and at the same time, I can feel that we are becoming closer and closer to Boss.

Medyo natagalan naman kami sa pag-uusap at hindi naman namin namalayan na madilim na pala.

"Medyo gabi na pala." pansin ko naman na medyo naging matamlay si Jamiel.

"Don't worry, we'll visit you again tomorrow." nakangiting wika ni Kyla.

"Yes, kaya magpahinga ka na muna." dagdag ko. 

"Salamat." Jamiel answered and smiled.

I know that Jamiel wanted us to stay longer. Wala kasing ibang bumibisita sa kaniya maliban sa amin. Truthfully, we don't know that much about Jamiel. Aside sa ka edad at nag-aapartment din siya gaya namin, wala na kaming ibang alam tungkol sa kaniya.

We left the room with Boss.

"Ahmm." napatingin naman kami ni Kyla kay Boss.

"Yes Sir?" tanong ko.

"I-It's already dark." nagtinginan naman kami ni Kyla. She shrugged her shoulders telling me that she has no idea.

"And, it is dangerous for you two to go home without knowing what happened before." wika niya. Napangiti naman ako sa sinabi ni Boss.

"So, how about I drive you two home?" pansin ko naman agad ang pag-iwas niya ng tingin at pagkamot niya ng batok niya.

I looked at Kyla and I know that she is against the idea. Knowing that she really hate Boss because of her sudden mood swings.

Binalikan ko naman ng tingin si Boss at hanggang ngayon ay nakatalikod pa din siya at pansin ko naman ang pamumula ng tainga niya.

"Well, since nagtitipid din naman kami.." Kyla looked at me and shook her head but she can't do anything. I am the ruler between us two and she can't do anything about my decisions.

"We'll gladly take your offer Sir." nakangiting wika ko. He looked back at us and I can see how he tries to suppress his smile. I guess he really wanted to drive us home safely.

"T-Then, shall we go?" wika niya and then he started to walk. I can sense Kyla behind my back.

"Pota naman Amel, bakit ka pumayag?" tiningnan ko naman siya.

"Nagtitipid ako." 

"Kung nagtitipid ka, ako hindi! Ako na magbabayad ng pamasahe mo kaya halika na!" halatang may diin ang boses ni Kyla habang sinasabi niya yun.

"Nakakahiya naman na bawiin yung sinabi ko kay Boss diba? Ikaw? Baka gusto mo siyang kausapin?" ngumiti naman ako.

"Tangina talaga." hindi naman na siya nagsalita pagkatapos kong sabihin yun at tahimik nalang na sumunod. Nakarating na kami sa may parking lot sa labas ng hospital.

"Sigurado ka na talaga sa desisyon mo sa buhay Amel? Ako ata unang mamamatay sa atin e." 

"Manahimik ka nalang." bulong ko sa kaniya.

"Get on." binuksan naman niya ang pinto sa front seat at tumingin sa akin. I looked at Kyla at napangiwi naman ako ng buksan na niya ang pinto sa passenger seat at agad na umupo. I looked at Boss' face and he seems to be more enthusiastic than when he was working. Is there something that put him in good mood? I just shook my head and take my seat.

Boss started the engine at agad naman na kaming umalis.

There was pure silence inside the car. Kahit na si Kyla na hindi makayang hindi magsalita kahit na isang minuto ay natiklop ang bibig.

"T-Thank you for your efforts." napatingin naman ako kay Boss na ngayon ay nakatingin pa rin sa daanan.

"It was nothing Sir. Tsaka, trabaho rin naman namin." wika ko but he shook his head.

"No. You two are the reason why we can have a successful meeting with the investor tomorrow." nakangiting wika niya.

"You're wrong Sir." napatingin naman ako sa direksyon ni Kyla na ngayon ay seryosong nakatingin sa harapan.

"What do you mean Ms. Mendoza?"

"Jamiel also played a crucial part. You can't just give us the credit for all the works." napangiti naman ako sa sinabi niya.

"She's right Sir." tumatango kong wika.

"I-Is that so? W-Well, of course, Mr. Rendon did a pretty good job too, yes." hindi naman na siya nagsalita pagkatapos non.

"Thank you for driving us home Sir. See you tomorrow." wika ko at ngumiti.

"Tara na." agad naman akong hinila ni Kyla. Binalikan ko naman ng tingin si Boss at isang ngiti naman ang binigay niya sa akin.

Pagkapasok namin ay agad namang isinalampak ni Kyla ang katawan niya sa sofa.

"That dumb s**t of a boss." napabuntong hininga naman ako sa sinabi niya.

"Isipin mo yun? Hindi man lang niya binigyan ng credit si Jam? Isa talaga siyang malaking pota at yung kotse niya, pwe! Amoy babae! Bakla siguro yun." napangiti nalang ako sa kaniya.

"Oo na, kaya naman tumayo ka na diyan at magbihis dahil matutulog na tayo." she looked at me and nodded. 

"Pero talaga, tangina niya! Argggh." I just laughed almost in a whisper. Hindi ko alam kung bakit sobrang naiinis siya kay Boss. Actually, as his secretary. Alam kong mabait siya and ilang beses ko na rin yung sinabi kay Kyla but it was no use.

Hindi ko nalang naman muna pinansin yun at agad na tumungo sa kwarto ko at nagbihis. It was such a long day at hindi ko alam kung bakit pagod na pagod ako. I closed my eyes and I can feel my consciousness drifting away.

"L-Lady Amelie, you should go. Maxmilian, he is waiting for you outside. P-Please be safe my Lady." it was the same dream. I don't know why but my heart is racing.

Napatingin naman ang lalaking kumausap sa akin kanina sa may pintuan ng biglang parang may pilit bumubukas dito.

"Y-You should go Lady Amelie. C-Count -" he looked at my back with relief. I looked behind and a bloody red eyes with warm look welcomed me. 

"Max." my voice came out on its own and I know that I sounded happy when I uttered his name.

"We should go. They are coming." all our eyes shifted from him to the door and saw men in armors pushing their way in.

"Stop there you demon!" everyone took out their sword and pointed at us.

"Amelie Vestrout you are hereby sentenced to execution by the command of the Emperor." 

"Ellie, we should go." I felt a strong embrace on my waist and suddenly all the knights stood there as if paralyzed.

"What did you do?" I asked.

"Nothing, just to buy us some time. I promise you, I will no longer kill and taste human blood." he smiled at me though I can't see his face. I can feel my heart beating faster because of relief.

The whole scene shifted from what still bring pains in me.

"E-Ellie...no, this can't be. D-Don't close your eyes!" I see how his tears fell down from his cheeks.

"M-Max--" someone tapped his shoulder but he just glared at him with his bloody red eyes. I don't know why, but this surely is hurting me. I don't know who he is but all I know is I need to comfort him.

I can't bear to see him hurting. I can feel my tears forming too. My hands tried to reach him and with staggering effort, I barely touched his face with this bloody hands of mine.

"Max..." the moment he heard my voice he immediately looked at me with concern and guilt.

"I-It's not your fault." I said while holding his face. Tears endlessly fell down to his cheeks.

"I-I c-can't bear to see you hurting." my smile felt so weak that I can't even hold it for too long.

"You should let me g-go." with that my tears fall off.

"Ellie..." he held my hands tighter and looked at me intently.

"This isn't the end, I-I'll search for you no m-matter what." I can feel my whole body losing it's strength.

"E-Ellie..." it was the same scene yet it still breaks my heart. I felt his warm tears in my cheek and suddenly I am awake, feeling my tears streaming down my cheeks. 

"Max." I whisphered. Bigla namang lumakas ang ihip ng hangin at nakita kong nakabukas ang bintana ko at tinataboy ng hangin ang kurtina. The moon light embraces me aand I don;t know why but I feel like I'm longing for something, for someone.
