Avery's POV
We went to the store and got Hadley new clothes and pajamas and then picked up pizza on the way home. Hadley had warmed up to me instantly, but by the time we put her to bed she was even talking to Conrad a little. I wanted to kill him for bringing her home tonight, but with one look at her sad little eyes I understood it. I wanted to kill her mother for the way she had treated her. No child should ever have less than their parents. I went to bed without saying a word to Conrad, and he followed right behind me.
