A young man is discovered in an alleyway on a rainy night in Eastvale, having been beaten to death and having a beer bottle smashed over his head. What appears to be a normal after-hours bar fight gone wrong quickly turns into something darker and more intricate. Due to his racist beliefs, the victim, Jason Fox, a member of the white power Albion League, was recently fired from his position. Many people may have wanted Jason dead, including the young Pakistanis he had insulted in the bar earlier that night, his business partner's dubious friends, and possibly even someone in the Albion League. Just when Detective Chief Inspector Alan Banks thinks he has a handle on the case, an unexpected discovery forces him to reconsider everything he believes.
