First sight

The sun was up but decided to hide under a thick blanket of clouds. Dim light rays managed to enter the silent bedroom. Elanor opened her eyes, her first reaction – a long exhale before stepping in front of her wardrobe. Standing at around 5’7, the female stretched her body lazily popping her joints to release the tension. Downstairs there was music playing and light humming along to the tune. Elanor made her way to the window, peering outside at the curtain of rain that was pouring. A smile was drawn on her lips as she watched the leaves of the trees dance under the weight of the water droplets. She loved this city especially for this. The heavy rains, the wet season, the smell of earth and dirt, the unending forests that embraced the city and so many other things, some chose to run away from. “Are you ready?! We are already late!” Laura’s voice was heard. Elanor shook her head lightly and pulled her hair up into a ponytail, to accompany her simple black outfit. A pair of high waist jeans and a black turtle neck, masking most of her pale skin. Red winged eyeliner made a statement around her creamy hazelnut eyes, and her platinum hair contrasted perfectly, balancing her outfit. Downstairs she found Laura all pampered up, a blue fitting dress hugging her forms, and a pair of heels to make her taller. The two were an opposite match. Laura loved to play it like a doll, while Elanor was a little different. Where one would choose a dress, she would pick jeans and boots any time. “Let’s go.” Laura cheered happily, a wide grin on her red stained lips. It was not a long drive, but Ela seemed to drive as slow as possible, to Laura’s spite. But eventually they made it in front of the restaurant. Fancy. What kind of party even was this? Ah. A birthday party. Should she have bought a gift? Her eyes moved to Laura who seemed to hold a small colorful box. Nah. She was a very unimportant guest. No one would notice her anyway. Inside, small groups had already formed and the buzzing of the music was covering all the noise of the conversations up. She could not recognize too many faces, so she just followed Laura around, standing just a little behind her, doe like eyes searching for something familiar, while her stomach was twisting uncomfortably for some unknown reasons. Uneasy, Elanor was shifting her weight from one leg to another, as Laura made a few introductions for her. All the effort she put in was just a nod of head , before looking around again and again. “And this is Luca.” Laura’s touch pulled Elanor out of her thoughts. “Nice to meet you.” She bowed her head slowly to the man, but that’s when it hit her. The most intoxicating and nauseating scent. Her eyes scanned the room once again, before they locked into a death stare with the man across the room. He was in a conversation, but his eyes were laid on her for a while already. He had scanned her head to toe a few times already. His eyes had taken in every curve that was embraced by the fitting clothes she wore. Who are you? /What/ are you? His thoughts ringed into his head, his pupils widening when their eyes locked, his stomach twisting. He had felt her scent from the moment she had entered the restaurant. He had felt her before, countless of times, but he had never had the time to follow her trail. Every time he had left the pack territory, all around the city, he could feel her everywhere. Like a call, like a string pulling him towards her. Mine. Mine!  The words echoed in his mind louder, feeling himself grow wary and agitated. He swallowed a lump and pulled his gaze away, breaking the contact with no ease, returning to the conversation he seemed to have lost track of. Laura grabbed Elanor’s arm softly, tugging it to get her attention. “Ela?” The woman turned her head with a sharp motion, her pupils wide, and her breath a little shaggy as if she had woken up from a nightmare. Laura shook her head confused tugging and leading her friend away, excusing themselves from the man that seemed as confused as her. Far from the ears of the curious, Ela and Laura took a seat at one of the empty tables sitting in silence. “Are you alright?” the question came as a whisper. Run!  Ela’s mind raced. “I-“ hazelnut colored eyes closed in a failed attempt to hold back a flinch when her ears picked the deep husky tune, now closer to her. She could feel every muscle in her body pull her to run away. She knew those of his kind were settled around this city, but she had not felt their territory to be inside the town. If they found she stepped right into their territory, she would be dead by tomorrow. In her actual state she could not fight, she could not even outrun one of their kind. She had encounters with such as him, but she had never felt such a dominating and oppressing presence before. “Ela, are you-“  “I’m fine. I’m fine.” “Are you hungry?” The answer was a short shake of the head. Cold pale skin turning into goosebumps, as she felt eyes on her again. This time she did not raise her head to meet his icy cold eyes. Laura looked around too, noticing the man who seemed to have locked his interest on her friend. But she could not tell what was happening. Was he one of her kind? Was he an enemy? Was he friend? He looked like he was savoring the image of Elanor and at the same time he looked like he would snap her in half. “What’s happening?” Laura muttered turning to her friend again
