Blurb

Once there was a beautiful princess cursed to sleep forever until her prince charming came and kissed her. She woke up from her deep slumber and they lived happily ever after. That was the classic Sleeping Beauty fairytale for you.

In another retelling, there was once a mighty Valkyrie who was cursed to fall to sleep and her body surrounded with a ring of fire until one brave warrior came to her rescue, kissed, and freed her. But what should supposed to be a happily ever after ended up into a fatal and tragic love story ever told in the Norse myth.

In a real, modern-day setting, Brianna fell into a coma with divorce papers waiting for her to sign if and when she wakes up. Her husband, Siege Stevens, found out about her illicit affair with another man, and immediately decided to divorce her. They were miserably married for a long time.

The Valkyrie who was searching for her lost love claimed Brianna's body and made it her own. When she wakes up, she believes he was the one she's looking for. Her uncanny and quirky behavior made him doubt her, but eventually, upon realizing to himself, he was actually falling for his wife.

In all those years, he never learned to love her, in fact, he despised her. But what changed?

As soon as she awakened from the coma, things were never normal for him, and her.

What will their future be, a happily ever after or a tragic love story?

PROLOGUE
Odin, the king of the gods, was furious after she defied his order. As her punishment, she was imprisoned in the castle located in Mt. Hindarfjall in the Alps and was put to sleep forever. Only a man brave enough to cross through the ring of fire surrounding her body could wake her up and marry her.  Her name was Brynhildr, a Valkyrie, one of the noble heroic warriors maiden of Allfather Odin. She could decide who would live or die during battles and her mission was to bring these fallen heroes to Valhalla so they could fight alongside Odin and other gods when the prophesied Ragnarok happened.  She was ordered to decide the fight between two kings, Hjalmgunnar and Agnar. Despite Odin's preference for the former, she sided with the latter and thus, was punished to live a mortal life and be in a deep slumber. Sigurd was the brave man who crossed through the flames and rescued her. They fell in love with each other. He proposed and gave her Andvari's ring. But he had to continue his travels so she waited as he promised to return. To her disappointment, it was Gunnar who came for her. As she was confident that no other man would equal Sigurd's feat, she vowed to marry any brave man who would cross through the fire for her,  albeit, reluctant, she had to marry Gunnar. Meanwhile, Sigurd was already married to Gudrun, Gunnar's sister. But the deception and betrayal prompted her to seek revenge. She convinced Gunnar to kill Sigurd, but he was unable to do so because of the oath they had as blood brothers.  He was killed by Guthorm, instead. She lamented over his loss and on the day of his funeral, she knew deep in her heart that she still loved him, so she threw herself into his funeral pyre and lay to rest together.  She knew they would meet again, or she would come looking for him, no matter where or when.
