Almost all women dream of living as a princess. Zarina also dreamed of it before but in her nineteen years in the world she realized that fairytales are only for children and are impossible to come true in real life. Their life in New Berry was simple but because of her half American and half British blood, she was blessed with a very beautiful face that many admired. Her mother owns a small bakery and Zarina often helps her there. When she once delivered cupcakes to Mrs. Hudsons, she was so shock to see Nico waiting for her. Nico has been forcing himself on Zarina for a long time. In Zarina's extreme desperation, she took the hand of the man she had just seen standing there and introduced him as her boyfriend. The man was so surprised but when he felt Zarina's nervousness from her hand he defended her. Zarina didn't expect he'll do that so she looked at him in confusion and there she noticed that he was a very handsome man.

Chapter 1 Cupcakes
Zarina’s pov: When I was young, I was really fond of fairy tales. Mom would often tell me stories before bed, and dad would always say that I was his beloved princess. My father was born in England, he is a British and my mother is an American. They said they met at a coffee shop back then where mom worked as a crew. Dad fell in love with her in their first conversation and later on, dad courted her. He was mom's boyfriend for two years before they got married. After a year of their marriage I was born, and they named me "Zarina" because they said I was their treasure. Our life here in New Berry is simple. Even though it is one of the small towns in South Carolina, the people here are kind, cheerful and friendly. We enjoy living here but sometimes it's hard so we work together for our family. I always help mom in our small bakery when I come home from school and dad makes money by driving a taxi. Fairytales. In the nineteen years I’ve lived in this world, I’ve realized that those kinds of stories are only for kids. One cannot be a princess without royal blood. There are also no magic and fairy godmothers who can fulfill wishes. And most of all, no prince charming would love a simple woman... like me. That’s so silly if there is! Just after I ate my lunch, I sat in the chair in front of the counter and turned on the radio. I really don't like it when the surroundings are too quiet. It was as if I was feeling sad or I was thinking that a ghost would appear next to me. But instead of music, we heard news about the missing prince of Norfolk. I shuddered, earlier I was thinking about fairytales and now this is how I hear the news? Weird. "Just a week after Prince Raegan went missing, rumors spread that they saw him at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in South Carolina but there was no proof or confirmation that the prince was there," said the male reporter on the radio. My eyes rolled at the news, "What came to that prince's mind? There are so many places to visit, why would he choose here?" "Why not? It's peaceful here and the people are kind," mom chuckled. "I mean, why here? There are so many places in America where the scenery is more beautiful and more relaxing so why here?” I asked with astonishment. “One more thing, he's a prince! He has so much money to do whatever he wants! He doesn’t have to run away!?” "Oh dear, there are things that are hard to explain. There are things we do or are able to do that are wrong in the eyes of others, but everyone has their own reasons why they have to do it," mom answered while serving our customer. I sighed. I don't understand, they already have everything but why do he have to run away? What else is he looking for? Hmn? "Zarina, can you deliver these cupcakes to Mrs. Hudsons? Nico paid for it yesterday so don't ask for her payment, okay?" said mom as she arranged the cupcakes in a box. "Sure mom!” I smiled at her. Mom squeezed my cheek and smiled at me so sweetly, "Thank you so much dear! I'm so blessed to have you." But the truth is, when I heard Nico's name, I was a little nervous. Nico is the son of Mrs. Hudsons and he was only a year older than me. He was my classmate for five years and we became friends but two years ago, he said he likes me. He has been courting me for a long time. He is kind and he has a look that other women admire but I only think of him as a friend. I told him that many times but I don't know why he still doesn't stop, hmn! "Is there a problem?" mom asked when she noticed I was sighing. "N-nothing! I just remembered something. Are the cupcakes ready? I'll deliver them now," I told her. "Oh here! Be careful on the road!" mom reminded me and then handed me two boxes of cupcakes. I took them and happily put a kiss on her cheek, "Noted mom! I will, bye!" I took my helmet that hung near the door and then I went out. I immediately got on my scooter type motorbike and left. Maybe I should stop thinking of what-ifs, I shouldn’t be worried. Mrs. Hudsons always orders cupcakes from us, it's a bit surprising that Nico ordered for her today. They were a few blocks away from the bakery but in just a few minutes I reached the front gate of their house. It’s confusing that I don’t hear any country songs right now. Every time I go here to deliver, Mrs. Hudsons always listens to those kinds of music. I stopped my motorbike when I reached the front of their gate. I took off my helmet and got off from there while carrying the cupcake boxes. I slowly walked towards the gate and rang the doorbell but no one seemed to hear. I rang the doorbell several times but still no one came out of the door. I tried to shout and call Mrs. Hudsons but still no one notices. Seems like no one is inside? "Did Mrs. Hudsons leave? What am I going to do with these cupcakes?" I asked myself with a sigh. I leaned against the gate in great frustration and was just surprised to feel it open. I almost fell to the ground. Fortunately, I regained my balance and was able to stand up straight right away. But wait! Why is the gate open? “H-hello? Mrs. Hudsons? Are you in there?” I called again. Out of curiosity, I slowly opened the gate and looked around but there was really no one. Should I go inside? I walked in and a few more steps, I'm right in front of their door. I was still wondering if I should knock or if I should leave. I let myself take a deep breath but just as I was about to knock on the door it suddenly opened. I was shocked when Nico's face appeared in front of me! I frowned because I didn't expect him to be here. Usually, they have basketball practice at this hour so this is the time I chose to go here, but why? Why is he here now? “Zarina, you came!” said Nico with a wide smile on his face when he saw me. "I-Is Mrs. Hudsons here? I… ahmn already brought her cupcakes," I muttered. "She's not here, I'm sorry! I'm really the one who ordered those cupcakes," he replied. My eyes almost popped out because of what he said, "W-what? Sh*t!" "Hey, don't get mad! I just want to talk to you,” Nico said and then he tried to hold my hand. Thankfully I was able to avoid it immediately. "I'm sorry, I have a lot of work to do in the bakery. Here are your cupcakes, I need to leave.” I put down the boxes of cupcakes and then turned my back on him. “Bye—" But before I could step away, he quickly grabbed me and leaned me hard against the wall, "N-Nico! What are you doing!?" "I told you, I just want to talk to you!" he answered impulsively. He was staring at my face down to my body, and I couldn't understand why I was terrified by those looks. This is not right! I have a bad feeling about it! "Whatever you're thinking Nico, stop that! I told you before that I only think of you as a friend, can't you understand that?" I asked him between my fear and anger. "Not that I don't understand, it's just… I can't accept it! You're the only one I love like this Zarina. Why don't you give me a chance to show you?" he answered recklessly. "But I don't really love you Nico, leave me alone!" I said almost out loud and pushed him with all my might. He let go of my hands so I was free from him. I stared at his shocked face for a few seconds to prove that I was serious and to stop him from pushing himself on me. My eyebrows met in anger and I couldn’t even say goodbye to him. I just turned around and walked towards the gate to get away from that place. "Zarina! Zarina, wait! Why? Why can't you love me? Am I ugly? Am I a bad person in your eyes? Tell me what you don't like about me! What? What is it?" he kept questioning me as he tailed me. I'm tired of his questions and even if I answer all of them, I'm sure he still won't stop. I was almost close to their gate and since it was made of grills, I noticed there was a man standing near my motorbike. The man looked around as if waiting for someone. He was wearing a black cap and shades covering his eyes. I don't think our age gap is far based on his posture and physique. I stopped myself from walking and an idea suddenly entered my mind. Hmn! "Zarina, please answer me!" Nico insisted. I opened the gate and went out, Nico still following me. I grabbed the hand of the man standing in front of my motorbike and intertwined our fingers before facing Nico again, "Because I already have a boyfriend Nico! And I love him so much, no one can change that! Not you, not anyone!"
