EPISODE 1
B A C K S T O R Y My name is Freya Trywolf, and I am a vampire hunter. It's a job that I inherited from my father, Charles Trywolf, who was once the head of the Association of Vampire Hunters (AVH). A month ago, he was killed by the notorious vampire named Marshall. My father had been tracking him for years, and it appeared that the chase had finally come to a deadly end. I had no idea what had happened, until my friend Debra called me to deliver the tragic news. As soon as I received the news of my father's death, I knew what I had to do. I had to find Marshall and avenge my father's death. I immediately left everything behind and headed back to town. The drive back was long, and the weight of my loss made it feel much longer. The closer I got to my hometown, the more my fury and desire for revenge grew. E P I S O D E 1 I had been tracking down Marshall all day... As the night fell, I started to woErry that I would never find him. It was then that I heard a faint whisper that sounded like a vampire's howl. I knew that was my opening, and I followed the sound in the direction from which it came. As I walked, my heart raced. I knew what was at stake, and I didn't want to lose my chance for revenge. After a few dead ends, I finally found him lurking in an abandoned building on the outskirts of town. I could feel my pulse pounding in my ears as I stepped inside the building, my crossbow clutched tightly in my hand. I felt someone or something move behind me quickly, and I turned. “Show yourself, you monster!” I scream into the air as I still could see no one. Even though I could see no one, I could feel someone’s presence. As dark as the room was, I could only see the entrance. The moonlight filled the entrance, since the door was wide open. “Son of a b***h!” I muttered in anger as I heard something move out of the room through the open door. It was fast, and only a vampire could move that fast. Besides, I saw his shadow when he obstructed the light from the moon as he ran out through the door. The abandoned building where I found him stood isolated in the woods, and if truly Marshall moved out of the building, he was definitely going to be outside, roaming the woods. As I walked through the woods, I couldn't help but feel nervous. I had sent myself on a mission to track down a vampire who had allegedly killed my father. It was a task I was particularly thrilled about. “Where are you?” I shouted. “I promise that an arrow is going to pierce your heart before the moon leaves the sky,” I said, and I heard him chuckle. “Really? Well, that's cute. I like the lines you used, it sounds dramatic,” I heard his voice say. I could only hear him speak, and feel him moving behind the trees surrounding me, but he had refused to step out. I had been tracking Marshall for days, ever since I received word that he was the one who killed my father. I knew it was going to be a dangerous mission, but I couldn't let my father's death go unpunished. “You're going to know exactly how cute it is when you decide to come out and face me, you coward,” I said to him and he kept chuckling behind the trees. The forest was eerily quiet, and the moment he stopped laughing, the only sound I could hear was the rustling of leaves as the wind blew through the trees. I kept my crossbow at the ready, my fingers poised to pull the trigger. The tension was palpable, and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. Suddenly, I heard a twig snap, and I quickly turned in that direction. I saw a blur dart through the trees, and I knew it was Marshall. I raised my crossbow, took aim, and fired. But he was too fast, and my arrow missed its mark. “F**k!” I cursed under my breath and ran in the direction he was heading. I knew I had to catch him before he got away. It was a dangerous game of cat and mouse, and I was determined to win. As I ran, I tried to anticipate his movements, but he was always one step ahead of me. I could hear his laughter taunting me, and it only fuelled my determination to catch him. “We could do this all day, you know?” He said to me, and I clenched my teeth. "Stop hiding, you animal!" I shouted, frustrated. "Show yourself and face me like the beast that you are!" "I'm not a beast, and I'm not a coward either," Marshall's voice floated back to me from the trees. "I just don't want to fight you. I don't believe in violence." "You don't believe in violence?" I scoffed. "You're a vampire, for God's sake! Violence is in your nature!" "Not my kind of vampire, don't you get it?” He said to me, and I had no idea what he meant by that. A vampire was a vampire, so I thought. "Not all vampires are monsters," he replied calmly. "I have feelings too, you know." “I saw the trail of blood you left around town in the past 3 months, my dad's included,” I say to him, and there's a stifling silence from his end. I rolled my eyes. "You're a beast, Marshall. You have no feelings whatsoever. You killed my father in cold blood." It seemed like I got him with my words, as he remained quiet. “Charles Trywolf is dead?” He said. “Yes, he is, and that is because you killed him,” I said in a low voice, remembering some sweet memories I once had with my father. “No, I didn't. I'm also shocked to hear about this,” he said and I grit my teeth. “You fool! No one's going to believe you're innocent. Everyone knows you're the most powerful vampire in town, and you've proved so difficult to hunt down. My friend, Debra told me you killed my father, she saw you pierce his neck with your fangs,” I said to him. "Do you really believe that?" Marshall's voice was soft now, almost pleading. "I swear to you, I didn't kill your father. I would never...I could never..." “Why should I not believe you killed him? You're a monster after all. You have no feelings, and you don't know what it means to love, that was why you killed him. You have no feelings, no emotions—” But before I could finish my sentence, I caught sight of him emerging from behind a tree. Oh my— Wow! He was so handsome, so attractive...it was almost a shock. And his face...oh, his face. It was charming, and it made me freeze in my tracks. I was about to call him a beast one more time, but I swallow my words as my mouth couldn't agree with me to call such a charming young man a beast. Beasts are usually not good-looking. As he walked towards me, I couldn't help but notice the way his eyes sparkled in the moonlight, and the way his lips parted. His hair was tousled and messy, but somehow still perfectly styled. He was wearing a simple t-shirt and jeans, but they somehow looked like high-end designer pieces on him. I tried to collect myself and not appear too obvious in my admiration, but I couldn't help feeling a little dizzy. And then he spoke. "You were saying?" he asked, his voice smooth and deep. “Y-y- You're a beast and—” I could only say it halfway... I gasped as Marshall pushed me against the tree with his vampire speed. I had never been so quickly overcome by someone's movements in my life. My crossbow fell from my hand as he pressed his body against mine. It all happened so fast that I didn't realize what was happening until his lips met mine. At first, I was shocked, and I tried to push him away. But there was something about the way he kissed me that made me stop struggling. His lips were soft and gentle, and they moved with a grace that was unlike anything I had ever experienced. All my thoughts and fears about vampires and hunting them suddenly faded away, and all I could focus on was this incredible feeling that I had never felt before. My entire body was paralyzed, and I felt like I was melting into a puddle at his feet. Marshall broke away from the kiss and looked into my eyes. "I have feelings too," he said softly. I was stunned as I tried to take it all in. This was the last thing I had ever expected from a vampire, especially one that I had been hunting for so long. I wondered where this was going to take me. Our worlds were so different. I looked back into his eyes, and I saw something. It was a mix of vulnerability and strength, and it drew me in like a moth to a flame. When he finally pulled away, he lingered for a moment, staring into my eyes. “A beast could never have done this. I hope to see you again, Freya,” he said, and my mouth dropped open for a second as I stared into his eyes, and then, with another burst of vampire speed, he ran off into the dark. I bit my lower lip and I gulp, trying to catch my breath. My crossbow was lying helplessly all the while he kissed me. I had been looking for him only to bury an arrow in his heart, but when he finally showed up, he defeated me and it was with a kiss. This was my first time coming face-to-face with Marshall, and he made me defenceless. I stood there for a moment, my heart beating rapidly in my chest. I had never felt this way before...this mix of fear and passion.
