Chapter Four: Ambition
The flora here is truly remarkable! Alongside growing cabbages and radishes, in the distance, it seems there are other varieties of fruits and vegetables. However, these fruits and vegetables here are not solely meant for consumption, as they possess the ability to think. Commissioned by the fish to inquire underwater, the plant in question is a flower, which has a question: "How can we understand each other?" Behind this question lies, "How do we differentiate between good and evil?" When it comes to visual perception, it relies on the eyes of organisms, yet it is limited by individual judgment and often susceptible to deception by worldly illusions. This flower is not satisfied with its limited field of vision; it desires a broader perspective and deeper insight. And around it are extraordinary peers; some flowers have eyes, akin to clairvoyance, stretching upwards like bamboo, capable of seeing far away. Some flowers emit ultrasonic waves like bats, probing their surroundings. Interestingly, several different flowers, positioned in various locations, connect with each other through sound waves, allowing them to read the information of organisms within their coverage area, including the thoughts of passing animals. Some animals are aware of these flowers' abilities, so they avoid passing by them. To attract animals, the flowers grow exceptionally beautiful! When consumed by favored creatures, the cabbage here leaves them refreshed and invigorated, but when not desired for consumption, it becomes bitter. Studies reveal that consuming this cabbage by malicious individuals results in severe toxicity. Another type of r****h, when eaten by the brave, induces calmness, while eaten by the weak, it instills courage. These plants, originally intended for consumption, have their own subjective desires on this planet. The plants here have lofty aspirations; a flower created butterflies, inadvertently giving rise to the planet's second greatest force! Referred to by humans from other worlds as "demon butterflies," we simply call them butterflies. They possess luminous bodies that cannot be touched, and hence, cannot be captured. However, they can effortlessly penetrate physical life forms without harming their bodily functions but can discern their thoughts, which some humans find even more terrifying. Animals witness how these butterflies are born. Faint light begins to emanate from the top of the flowers, visible only with careful observation during the day but a marvel at night! The weak lights gradually converge; inside the flower, stamens sporadically emit these light particles, akin to fireflies, wandering around before ultimately merging. The light mass grows larger, resembling a ball of light but not glaring. At this point, the ball expands, stretching itself according to a certain will, unfurling its wings, and finally transforming into a butterfly. Butterflies are highly sensitive to their surroundings, even perceiving the thoughts of living beings. What makes them truly fearsome is that, as demon butterflies, they can bring back the thoughts of animals, accumulating them in the memory bank of the plant. It's incredible, truly deserving of the title of the second greatest force. With the collective effort of the flowers, more and more butterflies are born. A group of butterflies fluttering together, with their vibrant colors, is a sight to behold! They fly together and disperse in an instant, their artistic display truly bewildering. At night, it seems like a fairyland. Stars age, and fleeting moments accumulate into long histories, yet the outcome remains temporary. Time is a mystery, often a tool needed for human practice and understanding. Some plants, in order to match the long-term development of the lake planet, bloom, bear fruit, and instead of falling or being eaten by animals, they float upwards, setting themselves ablaze and becoming a sun! Compared to the entire planet, this sun may seem insignificant, but it is truly a miraculous feat to create a sun! The lake planet will not age, it will not face death, it will not end; this requires the efforts of every member. The lake planet can also plan to temporarily leave here, depart from the solar system, and explore farther reaches of the universe, or depart temporarily for some reason. For a life-bearing planet to freely enter and leave various regions of the universe, in the boundless universe, this achievement is truly a great miracle! In the long river of history, many meteorites have fallen towards the lake planet, and despite the thick atmosphere, some meteorites still impact the surface. This may cause loss of life, but life resurrection is no longer difficult within the lake's biological realm. The merpeople can be used for sparring, but the shattered stones always feel like a resource. The fragments of meteorites fall into the water, enveloped by it, then lifted up, avoiding further harm. This water element wrapping has been used to deal with viruses and for isolation. If there were enemy countries, it would be difficult for enemy attacks to breach the defenses of the lake country. Both water and air are alive; these media with independently willful atoms can freely change their characteristics, and their natural flow, under normal circumstances, can become extremely solid. They either use wind blades to cut enemy ships to pieces or turn water into diamonds, employing various tactics. The conventional understanding is that water flows from top to bottom, but when water develops its own thoughts, it can run from bottom to top. Adhering to natural phenomena passively and accepting utilization, even ordinary water can harbor dissatisfaction! Foreign objects, even mere debris, falling onto the lake planet, are considered fateful encounters bestowed by time and space. However, there were divergent opinions in decision-making, and the Lake Nation had three different views: one was that these meteorite debris also belong to matter, and we should accommodate them, allowing them to develop on this planet like other life forms, so they agreed to remain on the planet; another view was to turn them into a satellite, orbiting the lake planet, thus becoming an independent development planet; yet another idea was to dispose of them elsewhere because this is the Lake Planet and cannot tolerate any impurity. To this point, the Lake Planet should be a perfectly beautiful planet, strong and indestructible. All things are composed of smaller things than themselves, and the diversity of life arises from different desires. Thus, the purpose of goodness is not only to develop oneself but also to fulfill the desires of others. The Lake Planet chose a middle-ground approach, processing the meteorite debris fallen on the planet's surface. They constructed a satellite in outer space within the atmosphere, quite round in shape. This artificial satellite contains all the resources necessary for life reproduction but is strangely lacking in abundance. Yet, despite this scarcity, life still flourishes here. This is the power of science! Readers should not think that there is no science here; it is all biological instinct or the result of nature. The power that transcends science is called willpower. The power of will is not to disregard science but to actively create and build upon scientific knowledge. Science explains everything, but willpower determines everything! The small satellite orbiting the Lake Planet now has life. There are only two types of life forms here, plants and animals, which is indeed pitifully few. The surface of the planet appears barren and infertile, lacking even rivers or formed water resources. It was not easy for the Lake Planet to create this planet; the water here cannot be irrigated, as it is alive and must consider the wishes of water molecules. The only plant here, with almost no leaves, resembles a tree but is too short, perhaps only as tall as a cotton stalk. Its branches appear like dry twigs, which I call "dry trees." In spring, a bit of leaf-like growth appears at the end of the branches for photosynthesis. By autumn, this tree bears some fruit to satisfy the nutritional needs of the dwarves. The dwarves' bodies are very small, active on the ground like small animals, and perhaps because of this, the food produced on the planet is just enough to sustain them. The diligent dwarves loosen the soil on the surface, allowing the roots of interdependent plants to better absorb nutrients from the soil. The planet is almost covered with these dry trees. If viewed from above, it can be observed that there are many dwarves bustling about under these almost non-existent shade trees. It doesn't look barren but rather thriving! They use the dry trees to build houses, make benches, and produce scrolls. Oh, look, their children are playing on the dry trees! The dwarves never feel lacking in anything; they don't know how impoverished they are. They think they are quite wealthy! In a certain year, a certain month, the Lake People saw them taking off with a telescope. It turned out they were launching rockets! They would eventually come here, so why not help them? No, let them strive to come here on their own! When the dwarves finally arrived on the Lake Planet, they were amazed: they had never seen such a beautiful planet, far more beautiful than they had imagined! They were ecstatic; there were no boats, no roads, no traces of industrialization, and not a speck of pollution in sight. They were completely intoxicated. To reward them, the Lake Planet prepared the most delicious fruits for them to eat, and they all lived long lives afterwards. "There are fruits here that can revive the dead!" Who leaked the news? The mighty Lake Planet became the target of covetous plunderers in the universe, triggering the subsequent cosmic war. The people on the Lake Planet witnessed these little cuties and believed that the homeland could accommodate certain forms of life. Some Lake scholars believe that evildoers are created by the environment, and there is no large environment on the Lake Planet that tolerates evil. Furthermore, the minds of the life forms on this planet are very mature, capable of discerning the origins and motivations of different thoughts. Regardless of the initial motivations, every form of life has an inherently positive nature and needs. A favorable social environment can motivate people to actively pursue goodness. Therefore, the Lake Nation made a decision to artificially create land platforms on the planet that could support the survival and development of life from other planets in natural environments. The basic material needed for these platforms is the fragmented meteorites or stardust. The Fish People chose to construct floating land in certain water areas using fragmented meteorites, which was an authentic engineering feat. But they succeeded! The early mud was generated on the land, and over time, the surface of the soil formed the land necessary for the reproduction of ordinary natural life, thus accommodating life systems that other nations might have. The difference is that there are still no rules of survival of the fittest here. The Fish People's island-building technology is like art, creating not just a rigid piece of land but a three-dimensional dynamic painting full of joyful life! On such land, we can see ordinary deer, chickens, water buffalo, cats, dogs, and pigs that love to root. Wild cabbage and the earliest radishes grow on the ground, and anyone can eat them. Grasshoppers fly in the grass, mushrooms grow under shady trees, and moss appears on stones. A group of baboons formed the earliest tribe but, under the Fish People's gentle guidance, they matured early and did not experience a terrible history of conflict. These baboons like to take care of other animals because they have labor needs in this area and also need for their own mental development. If the Lake Planet needs to change its position in the universe, it needs to be able to move. In this case, all life on the planet, including the small satellite, will die. If it is inconvenient, settle the small asteroid in a certain star system, choose a suitable position, and let it orbit there. After the task is completed, come back to find it. The atoms inside the Lake Planet's material have awakened and all possess independent wills. This accomplishment is incomparable, and traveling in the universe is as easy as walking a well-trodden path. And the life that once died on the planet is like sleeping soundly, settling down well and waking up again. Therefore, such a planet, such an accomplishment, is truly a worthy cosmic power! A turtle stood on the shore giving a speech: "We must save the universe, save all living things, and not confine ourselves to one side. The explanation of goodness is not to wait for the universe to undergo some change, but to actively explore and develop, and this should become a major political strategy. Humans can see the world with their thoughts. How can we not help distant kingdoms if we see they need assistance? How can we sit idly by? Vast territories need benevolent individuals to develop!" The turtle continued: "Previously, we were limited to communication within this universe, always respecting others' ways of life. We lacked exploration of other, more distant places. We should regard exploration in the universe as our national policy. We are confident that there are no beings or planets more powerful or perfect than us, but only heaven knows. In the vast universe, it is unknown whether neighboring nations are friends or foes, so we need to actively understand and explore. I suggest that we send out spacecraft for long-term exploration, interact and cooperate with other nations, and strive to unite more countries around us. We need a faster spacecraft to carry life for exploration and communication in the universe. We should not be satisfied; satisfaction is an insult to our own strength and will!" It spoke passionately, but where was the turtle? It was more like an ambitious dragon! "In the universe, various injuries and misfortunes have occurred, and we have done our best. The oppressed have been saved, they have been liberated, and our benefit is that they are grateful. But how many such stories are there in the vast universe? We need to make efforts and fulfill the responsibilities that strength has given us!" In conclusion, "We should regard eternal exploration as our basic national policy, dispatch long-term spacecraft to strengthen ties with other life planets and different universes, establish alliances with them, promote exchanges, and seek common development. Our exploration has no end, only further!" Its speech had an effect, and the Lake Nation decided to dispatch spacecraft for long-term exploration of the universe and strengthen ties with the outside world. A powerful life formed on this planet, combining the strengths of butterflies and fish people, is the Fish People's spaceship. It can be seen that the most powerful life here has the task of serving as a spacecraft. In the future, it will carry explorers and embark on a journey to tour various nations in the boundless universe. In other countries, equally outstanding individuals are also gazing at the universe. Once, the Lake Planet sailed alone in the universe, collecting many heroic atoms from other lands. Accumulating them, it brought them back to the Lake Planet, forming the third major force loyal to the Lake Planet. On the Lake Planet, there is a bracelet that, when worn, banishes all fear from the wearer's heart. Additionally, there is a sword that grants immense power to even the most timid individuals. Some collaborators arrived at the Lake Nation, and together with the Lake People, they endeavored to revive dead planets and bring life to desolate worlds. Many seekers of justice also came, willing to unite around the Lake Planet and become its guardians, earning them the title of the third major force of the Lake Planet. In the author's mind, the most beautiful planet is the Lake Planet; there is none better. There are too many regrets in human history, so my thoughts turn to exploring the universe. I have seen them, they are my most precious treasure, and now I have depicted them with my own pen to share with the world. I am somewhat reluctant, but I cannot bear to take the stories with me to the grave. Even the most exquisite explanations cannot replace the regrets in my heart. I do not believe that existence equals reason, but the process of development and practice is extremely difficult. Therefore, I can only place all my emotions in the vast universe. I think, who can escape the entanglement of reality? But who can imprison my thoughts? I have to admit that thoughts come from reality and history, and stories come from all things. I am unwilling and I cry out, "Who can surpass the Creator!" The elderly are superstitious, needing to use Bodhisattvas to support their spirits. In Lu Xun's novels, Run Tu also created a god for himself to worship. Believers come in a continuous stream, choosing what they like to believe in. I love them! Believers believe, and I am already connected with them in heart. For some people, the day they were born is the beginning of a tragedy. If tragedy could be played by just one person, it would be better, but unfortunately, even this honor is not granted. In the past, my spirit persisted because I saw wonders in a broader world. Thinking of them, my spirit is joyful! From my political ideals to a more systematic study of Marxist philosophy, I gained the courage to face reality. And I use this ideology to explore solutions to real problems. My theories may be useful in this world. When I looked at the stars as a child, they seemed so close that I could almost touch them, and indeed I did. I tried hard to see them clearly every night. Finally, I saw them, I finally saw them! When I was in kindergarten, I remember the textbook writing about the Earth and the solar system. It was the first time I knew that the Earth was where we lived. I was ecstatic! Because it was just something happening on Earth. The world of the universe is so vast! Afterwards, the elementary school textbooks wrote "Love Science, Oppose Superstition," and the textbooks are always right. But for a long time, science did not come to save me. Now, I am different. My thoughts did not need a spaceship; they went directly to various worlds in the universe and began a journey to tour various countries. I finally realized that science can explain, but it cannot replace justice; justice still needs to be pursued by humans. On the Lake Planet, there is no food chain, but life is flourishing! The perfect combination of plants and animals is truly a marvelous biological miracle. I am limited by my own writing skills and cannot describe it in detail. From this perspective, I am guilty! Coupled with my mindset, so... I'm sorry! Future readers who read this work can complete the image in their minds according to their own imagination, carefully depicting their idols. So, not writing is better than writing. As the saying goes, butterflies of a certain color seek flowers of the same color. So where are my flowers?
