Critical Writing
First of all, we all have to know about what critical writing is.  Critical writing is writing which analyses and evaluates information, usually from multiple sources, in order to develop an argument. This is critical writing. A mistake many beginning writers make is to assume that everything they read is true and they should agree with it, since it has been published in an academic text or journal. The purpose of writing a critique is to evaluate somebody's work in order to increase the reader's understanding of it. A clear presentation of your own evidence and argument, leading to your conclusion. Some people mix up the descriptive writing and critical writing, but both are very different from each other. Descriptive writing is just to describe something, it never explains the previous feedback, response and history of the topic. While critical writing is not just to describe, it means to explain that thing about it's statement of now a days and previous and also in future. Today, the use of critical writing is explored so much that many people also buy money from it. There are many of the following features of critical writing: 1. A clear and confidential refusal to accept the conclusions of other writers without evaluating the argument and evidence that they provide; 2. A balanced presentation of reasons why the conclusion of other writers may be accepted or may need to be treated with caution 3. A clear presentation of your own evidence and argument leading to your conclusion 4. A recognition of the limitations in your own evidence, argument and conclusion  5. Novels, short stories, poems or essays are the most important sources of information. 6. A critical essay resembles an argument essay (pointing out/arguing certain points) 7. Make claims/pose questions as the focus of your critical essay 8. Provide a short summary of the work for the audience(summary should not be the central focus or whole paper) 9. It is just like a theory which can be accepted or rejected by publishing in books or newspapers or in academic collections.            In the descriptive writing you are not developing an argument; you are merely setting the background within which an argument can be developed. You are representing the situation as it stands, without presenting the analysis or discussion. While doing the critical writing, you are participating in academic debate. This is more challenging and risky. You need to weigh up the evidence and arguments of others, and to contribute your own. You will need to: ⦁ consider the quality of the evidence and argument you have read ⦁ Identify key positive and negative aspects you can comment upon ⦁ Assess their relevance and usefulness to the debate that you are engaging in for your assignment ⦁ Identify how best they can be woven into the argument that you are developing            A much higher level of skill is clearly needed for critical writing and this is reflected in the higher marks it is given. Now, due to all of this, it is clear that every man can write, but there is another question about good critical writing. For GCW, there must need two things from which you achieve others, our GCW and also impress others just because of it. These are the following: a. Content: Background information/description is minimal. It analyses the evidence presented by expert writers, looking for strengths and weaknesses, and uses the evidence to build an argument.  b. selection of points: A good critical writer knows which aspects of the topic are the most debated and will cover a range of opinions. This relies on critical reading of the correct sources.     These are the two main points which you should make for the best writer.  Example: The text below is an example of good critical writing and is based on essay material supplied by the university of Leicester's school of psychology. The author refers to the available evidence, but also evaluates the validity of that evidence and assesses what contribution it can realistically make to the debate. "There are a number of inherent methodological difficulties in evaluating treatment efficacy in this area, and this has contributed to controversy within the research literature surrounding treatment outcomes for this group of offenders(Marshall,1997). Firstly, while there is no doubt that the primary criterion of treatment success is the reduction in the rate of re-offending(Marshall et aL.,1999), the reconviction date does not, in isolation, provide a realistic representation of the actual level of re-offending by this group. It is well established that there is a discrepancy between re-offending and re-conviction rates: the latter underestimating the number of offenses committed(Grubbin,1999). Indeed, a significant proportion of offences committed by offenders are either unreported, or do not result in the offender being convicted(Abel et al.,1987)."     You can see how the author is considering the available evidence, but also the limitations on the evidence, and will be taking all of this into account in drawing a conclusion. Overall review: It is always worth taking a critical look at your own writing before submitting it for assessment.
