The Beginning
"Dad, I am fine , I mean we both should be, we've been okey ever since the day mom died.I don't mean it has been easy but we have been okey, we don't need her in our lives. Please don't marry her dad," were the only words that came out of my mouth that night. My father was marrying a second time.A wedding was to happen in three days and it it scared the hell out of me. I was born into a rich family, a lone son to two lovely parents , one " my dad" Robert with a type of autism known as atypical and my mom a cool empath who had fallen in love regardless. All through my early years I thought my family was as normal as any other family out their, one thing I couldn't understand though, was why we never really mixed a lot with other people. Personally, i wasn't diagnosed until I was six years. I had a pretty normal childhood life.I was a bit affected by extreme emotions and sounds around me but it was never concerning. All hell broke loose when my mama died a month after my fiveth birthday, the year was 2002. The sudden death of my mom saw to my life taking one sharp turn to the worst.I started to change behavior wise suddenly I couldn't bare loud sounds, weird panic attacks among other symptoms at first my dad thought it was my way of grieving. What he never knew was that i was sick too.And on my six birthday I was diagnosed with autism. Dad was not sure he was ready to handle the both of us, seeing to it he had to struggle with himself everyday especially since mom was no longer around anymore to help him handle himself. The good thing was the fact that we weren't poor and my dads money deed the most working for us and so dad didn't have to be out a lot. Now he was about to get married, not because he really needed to but because he felt he had to because of me .I had turned seven and bringing me up by himself was becoming a burden to him. He needed help.So when he met this waitress at his favorite Dheli Dishes hotel who seemed to empathize with , he felt he had met a helper. He asked her out and one thing led to another and now we were doing the final touches on his wedding suit. This lady Mary, was say ten years younger than my father and had two kids, the twins lily and Rebecca, two years older than me.The trio was so excited about the wedding. My dad was trying hard to look excited but behind the mask was a scared nervous Alex.As any other atypical, dad had the anxiety issues, well soo did i but our family doctor had done one hell of a job on training us to act normal , he called it " the everyones normal mask" apparently according to him everyone wears a mask to hide who they really are in the deep down. And that is why at a first glance you couldn't tell my dad was autistic. The next two days passed by almost as if someone was just swiping them across. I was nervous and not ready to take in this change.Fortunately my noise counseling headphones would come in hand. To this day I didn't understand how my dad was able to take all that noise and not freak out. Finally it was all over and back home we went only this time round we were plus three.
