"I told you she was a slut. She slept with an old man last night." Adella screamed. Murmurs could be heard all around as people pointed at Birdie. She wrapped bedsheets around herself and tried to explain that she had no idea what was going on, but they refused to listen. "Kyle, please believe me." she pleaded, but her pleas fell on deaf ears. All sorts of ugly names and insults were hurled at her and she tried to shrink herself and disappear into the mattress but to no avail. "I reject you, Bidie Samuel, as my mate." Kyle uttered the words that Birdie dreaded most. Adella and Kyle's mother dragged her out of bed and ripped the sheets off her. Her naked body was exposed to everyone. Birdie had never been so humiliated in her life. She was dragged back to the park and thrown into the basement cellar which had been her prison all her life. Days went by and nobody came by to see her except for the occasional old omega that took pity on her and fed her some bread and water. For each of those terrible days, she cried and wished for the moon goddess to take her life. And one morning, she finally felt life leaving her body. She welcomed the sweet release of death gladly. But death was denied to her. The old omega who snuck her water and bread found her passed out and called for help. Birdie was taken out of the cell, cleaned up and a doctor attended to her. The doctor broke the news of her pregnancy to her family. When Birdie regained consciousness, she was met with harsh words and accusations. "Congratulations slut, you got yourself knocked up. I feel sorry for the little bastards you are carrying." Adella laughed. "You are a disappointment," her mother said. "I always knew you would amount to nothing. You should have died along with your stupid father." the alpha said. "Why do you hate me so much?" she asked her mother in a weak voice. "Because you are his child," her mother replied harshly. "I never loved your father. My parents forced me to marry him. I pleaded with him to reject the union because I had a mate. But he was a selfish man. He chose the pack over everything else. I was a part of the pack. My happiness mattered." "So you have never loved any of us." Birdie finally realized the truth. "West was the man you loved and wanted to marry." "Yes. And it was my idea to kill your father so that we could finally be together." A large sense of hatred and pain overwhelmed Birdie. "How could you? He was so good to you." "I would have killed you too, but West has plans for you. You are nothing but a constant reminder to all of us that i once let your father touch my body. And I want all the reminders gone." Her mother walked away. Birdie was strapped to the bed and shed tears of bitterness. She knew she had finally lost everything. Through the next months of her pregnancy, she tried to kill herself many times, but the old omega Helga, who was assigned to watch over her, stopped her each time. "You must live for your children," she said. But Birdie knew the fate of the children in her womb would be no better than hers. They would suffer at the hands of her family. When she finally gave birth, alone with no doctor or help except for Helga, Birdie realized why she had survived. It was for her babies. Despite the poor feeding and beatings, her children were beautiful. They had the most amazing blue eyes she had ever seen, they reminded her of an ocean. They were triplets, two boys and one girl. She named them Jack, James and Jill. She was allowed to nurse them for a month before she was put to work as a maid in Alpha West's house. She was not a family member anymore. While she worked, her children were tied to a table in the house because nobody wanted them to run around and steal food. Birdie wanted to remind them the only reason why her children were stealing food was because they were hungry and starving. Their family of four lived on nothing but left overs and they scavenged out of garbage cans in the pack. At night, their little family huddled around together for warmth because they all slept in the cold basement cellar. While the children slept, she listened to the news on the radio that Helga let her borrow occasionally. Three years went by and her life became worse each passing day. Helga passed away and she was left with no one to talk to. The loneliness ate away at her like a parasite. Adella finally returned to the pack for a visit after staying away for three years. She and her husband Kyle looked like supermodels. She was a tall, blonde, refined society lady and he was a successful businessman who had increased the resort business he had inherited from his parents financially by leaps and bounds.. He was even mentioned among the most successful men under thirty in the world. They had a two-year-old son who looked like a rich young master. He was the spitting image of Kyle as a young boy. Birdie cried herself to sleep that night. Kyle had walked past her like she was invisible. To most of the pack, she had become invisible over the years anyway. Their son had inherited his mother's cruel streak. He had made it a point to torture Jack and James. When James defended himself, Kyle had hit him so hard that he fell back against a rock, hit his head and died. His body was thrown into the woods. She was not allowed to bury him. A few months later, West showed up with some of his betas and grabbed her and her children. They were thrown into a van and driven to an old building. For the first time in a long time, Birdie was scared. Not for herself but for her children. She peeped through a small opening in the window of the van and saw West being handed a large envelope of cash. Then she and her children were dragged out of the van and pushed into a building. Inside the building, medical equipment of all types that she could not recognize was arranged neatly. Birdie could see people with some obvious shifters, hooked up to IV bags. Others were locked in cages guarded by ferocious-looking men who were carrying guns. "Separate the kids. We will start with them." the doctor in charge said. Birdie assumed he was the doctor in charge because he was the one checking on the sick people. "Please don't take my babies." Birdie pleaded, but she was slapped and stuffed into a cage. Her children screamed and fought as they were dragged away. Birdie watched the doctor inject something into them and hook them up to an IV bag as well. "What's going on?" she asked the people she had found in the cages. "What are they doing? What did they inject into my children?"she cried. "It's some kind of scientific experiment. Dont bother worrying about it because we are all going to die anyway. Nobody has survived it so far." A teenage boy answered her. A few days later, Birdie watched her children spasm and die. Their bodies were thrown into a container and dragged out. She did not cry. Finally, when her turn came, she did not resist. She lay on the bed as they injected her with whatever serum was in the vials and waited patiently for death. Small tears came to her eyes as she thought about her hopeless life, "West, mother, Adella and Kyle. I hope you burn in hell wherever you are. I hope i don't meet you in my next life because i will skin you all alive. Dear Mother Goddess, you have watched as my family and I were wronged. I called out to you many nights but you stayed silent. I hope you will stay silent when it's their turn to suffer. I hope every shifter that wronged me will face painful justice by my death. I want the blood of my children to punish them because you watched as those tiny innocent things died pitifully." As the life left her body at the age of thirty, she smiled. In a hotel room, Birdie woke up, breathing heavily. She looked around nervously. She had clearly felt herself dying in that laboratory, so why is she still alive? "Please don't let me be alive to continue my suffering." she cried. She looked around the room and recognized it. It's the same room where she was dragged naked before the eyes of the public. She ran into the bathroom and looked in the mirror. She looked like this when she was twenty-six. Somehow, she had returned to the past. "We should hurry and leave this place." a voice within her head spoke. Birdie looked around in shock, "Who are you? reveal yourself." "I am your wolf Divine." "My wolf disappeared a long time ago," she whispered. "I was always there Birdie. You just didn't have the power to call me out. But we should leave this place first, then I will tell you everything." Birdie dressed in a hurry, picked up her shoes in her hands and found the keys to her motorbike and rushed outside. "Where do we go?" "Far from here. Just make sure you leave this city," Divine said.
