Chapter 2

1693 Words
Elliot's POV I'm so glad today is the day! My wedding day. Most people in my situation would be over the moon to get married. Not me. My dad has a theory. So here I am playing a CEO to a she-wolf my dad claims is so special, we must do anything possible to keep her. I should be taking over my pack, Alpha of the Redwood Pack. Instead, I'm cooking breakfast for a she-wolf that doesn't even know we exist. My dad saw her one day while we were on our way to discuss being allies with one of our neighboring packs. And since that day, two and a half years ago, he has been stuck on me, making this woman my luna and rejecting my mate. He even went so far as to bribe Marie's mother with a pretty wealthy amount to stop the abuse she was getting and to be married to me when she turned eighteen. "Son, this pack is in trouble. We've had so many rogue attacks that the pack is having a hard time recovering. We've lost so many warriors. This girl is the answer. If you want me to hand over the pack to you, you must make her your luna." Dad said when we got back. Werewolves get their wolves at 16 and can find their mates at 18. I met Marie a month before her 16th birthday and when i mentioned anything about werewolves, she would laugh it off like I was making a joke. It wasnt until she introduced me to her parents that I realized she actually didn't know she was a werewolf. She was adopted at 14 to a human family that doesnt know we exist. She has never been introduced to our world. I have been giving her wolfsbane in her breakfast since she turned of age so that her wolf can't surface and ruin everything. If anyone found out she was a werewolf, and a special one at that, everyone would want her. And our pack would be in ever more danger. Until her 21st birthday, when she unlocks her full power and our pack will flourish. "She is special Elliot! The legends say when she turns 21, her powers will unlock and she can wreck havoc on whoever tries to attack us! Packs will beg us for an alliance! Dont you dare ruin what we've been working on for two years just because you want to be selfish and choose your fated mate!" Dad yelled, enraged that I was bringing this up before my wedding. "But dad, an alpha is strongest with his fated mate!" "Not now, son! You will understand everything eventually! Just do as I say or do I need to alpha command you?!" He spit out with his face so red he could have been a mascot for Redwood. "No, alpha, I will continue with the plan." I said, baring my neck as I could feel his alpha aura radiating out around me. Marie can help us! Jet says, pleading with me. We need to tell her before she finds out and doesn't understand why we've been lying to her. We will tell her when we get to Hawaii. That way she has time to process it before we come back and we can talk in private. I will tell her everything. Your right. She deserves to know we only want our fated mate. I hope you know what your talking about, Jet." I just hope she will still want to help me after she finds out what we've been doing. *** The day was finally over. We were saying goodbye to our parents when I noticed Maria shifting uncomfortably when her mother tried to hug her. She reluctantly returned the hug when, all of a sudden, her face gets extremely red and I can practically feel the heat radiating from her. She suddenly tenses up and starts looking around as if she's looking for someone or looking for somewhere to run. I think you should get her out of here, son. She looks like she may run off any second. My dad mind linked to me. If I had to guess, Elizabeth had something to do with it. I don't understand why that woman wouldn't just leave her alone. If she hated her so much, why did she even adopt her from the orphanage? I've never seen that woman even look at Maries in a motherly way. She's always saying things under her breath or whispering when she doesn't think I can hear. If I was human I wouldn't have been able to, but since I was a werewolf and I had a wolf, my hearing was superb. Especially, since I was the future Alpha of the pack. Everything for an alpha is enhanced. Our wolves are bigger, stronger, and faster. I can't let them know I can hear, so I keep to myself. "Come on, we've got a flight to catch." I said, trying to keep the irritation out of my voice. She grabs my hand and I help her into the limousine. She immediately took off her shoes and suddenly, I was able to let out a breath I didn't even realize I was holding. "I never thought we would get away." Trying to break some of the tension in the air. I pulled out a bottle of wine and started to uncork it when I heard everyone outside yelling when we began to drive off. I hear some howling also and really hope she didn't hear it as well. No growling. Your future Luna has not yet been introduced into werewolf life yet. She is not healthy enough at the moment, so her wolf is dormant for now. Her so-called parents are human and also have not shown her a nice life. Please show your congratulations to the new couple, but do not give away our secret yet. Your future Alpha plans on introducing her after they get back. My dad links to all pack members on mind link using his Alpha command. I had not decided on how to approach the topic with her yet. How was she going to react? Would she freak out and try to run? Should I introduce her to the pack members first so she can see we are not a threat to her? How do I explain to her about her not having her wolf yet? Just as all of this is going through my mind, I notice Marie stiffen and look around startled. Her face turned bright red and I swear I felt heat coming off of her before she suddenly turns white and passes out. I catch her just before her head hits the floorboard and link the driver to pull over. My dad opened the door a few moments later. "Get in, we need to get her to a doctor soon. I'll link Dr. Miller and have him waiting for her." "What happened?" He asked, seeing Maria passed out across my lap. "We got in, she took off her shoes, then the next thing I know, I hear you link the pack and she turned red, all the color drained from her face and she passed out." I said as we pulled up at the pack house hospital. The doctors rushed out, quickly moving to get her checked out. "You weren't very specific when you linked Alpha, what happened to the Luna?" I quickly explained what happened while he was checking her heartbeat and the nurse was hooking her up to IVs and drawing blood. You did give her the wolfsbane today, right, son? Dad linked. Yes, I made her breakfast today and put it in her eggs. She ate before going with mom to get ready for the wedding. The doctors and nurses left the room to run some tests while I sat in the quiet room except for the sound of the monitors and her heartbeat. I will talk to the pack members that were present and see if anyone seen anything out of the ordinary. Your mom is checking over the venue and talking to her parents to see if they have any idea what could have happened. We can't risk anyone finding out about who she is right now. Its not time. I wonder what happened? Was it what her mom said to her? Was she that exhausted from all the dancing and events from today? Whatever it is, we need to find out soon. We can't let anyone find out we've been giving their Luna wolfsbane and if she isn't given more by in the morning, everything could be ruined. Just as I was starting to doze off, the doctor came in holding his clipboard, looking confused as he stared down at the paper on top of it. "I'm sorry to bother you, Alpha, but there have been some troubling things that came up in her tests." "Is she ok? What did you find? Will she be waking up soon?" I know I'm asking questions faster than he can answer but I need to know how long she will be here. "Well, Alpha, it seems the luna here has a small amount of wolfsbane in her system. Do you know who could've been around her to give it to her? It looks like its working it's way out but it could be the reason her wolf has been dormant." All a sudden, I panicked. I felt my wolf coming to the front. I know my eyes are fully black as I trash the room. I slammed the chair into the wall. Ripped the door off the wall. "Alpha, getting mad and destroying the room will not help the Luna right now. We will find who drugged her. For now, she needs to rest and let it work itself out of her system. Maybe when she wakes up, she will be able to give us some information." The doctor says, taking my outburst as a reaction to my mate being drugged instead of my fear of being caught. I have got to figure something out. And fast.
