Chapter 3

1829 Words
Marie's POV The rest of the evening was a blur between pictures, cutting the cake and dancing. Before I knew it, I was standing in front of a long, black limousine with rice in my hair. I have been able to successfully avoid my parents all day until now. Both sets of our parents are here to send us off on our honeymoon, huge smiles on everyone's faces. The feeling was back. I couldn't breathe. A raging headache hit so suddenly I stumbled back into Elliot. "Whoa, are you OK dear?" Cassandra says, pulling me in for a hug. The kind of hug a real mom would give her child. "Yes, just a bit of a headache. It's been a long day. Thanks, Mom." They step back and my parents step forward. They looked like proud loving parents that were genuinely happy for their daughter. My mom leaned in for a hug and that's when I heard the snap behind me and remembered we had photographers. Of course, that's why they're faking it. She whispered, "Just wait until he's had his fair share of you. He'll toss you aside like everyone else. You'll be back. He will eventually see you are not worth it." My face felt hot. My hands were balled up in fists of rage. I'll kill her! said a voice I'd never heard before. I looked around trying to find the owner of the voice but there was so many people that could have been anyone. "Come on, we've got a flight to catch." Elliot says, breaking my focus on the crowd. Why did that voice sound so familiar? I climbed into the limo and pulled off my shoes, rubbing my ankles, regretting the time I spent on the dance floor. "I never thought we would get away." Elliot says, opening a bottle of wine. Pouring two glasses as the limo pulls off and all of our friends and family yell and clap behind us. I swear I even hear some of them howl. Please don't freak out again. We can not let them know, they've been poisoning our food so that I couldn't surface. I'm Astrid your... The headache was back. The voice was gone. Suddenly, it felt as if my body was on fire and I lost the ability to breathe. The next thing I knew, all I saw was white. *** Marie's POV The rest of the evening was a blur between pictures, cutting the cake and dancing. Suddenly, it felt as if my body was on fire and I lost the ability to breathe. The next thing I knew, all I saw was white. *** I woke up on the bank of the most beautiful river I have ever seen. The water is crystal blue. I hear a waterfall ahead. My body moves on its own accord following the sound. I hear howling off in the distance, but for some reason I'm not scared. I look up at the waterfall and at the top stands the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. Her hair reaches her hips, cascading down her back in chocolate rings. She almost looks as if she was glowing. I just stood there staring at this woman, not knowing what to say. I hear the howling in the distance again, but this time it sounds closer. "Ah, she's finally able to get closer. You two will finally be able to meet soon." She turns around and I am met with deep blue eyes that remind me a bit of mine. "Hello child. I'm glad to finally reach you." Her voice is full of authority but its also kind. I was a bit startled at first and it took me a moment to find my voice. "Excuse me. Where am I at? How did I get here?" I was finally able to say. "I called you here, my child." She says, "We are in. Astrid's sanctuary." "Who is Astrid?" "That is why I am here. There are going to be some things you will soon find out and it's going to be hard to hear. It's going to be hard to get past the pain. Soon you will meet Astrid and you're going to learn about so many things you don't know about yet. Please be open-minded. Let her in. Trust in her. She will help you. Becca will also be a big key to keeping you grounded. Trust in her also. There are people around you that have impure intentions. Be aware of your surroundings." "May I ask who you are?" "I go by many names, but I believe the people you will meet will refer to me as the Moon Goddess." She looks at me with a look so full of love, but I also see pain quickly before she recovers. "You are meant for great things. The road to getting there was never meant to be one of pain, but one of great happiness. Dont let the hurt hold you back from your happiness. Have an open heart but also listen to those who think you cant." "I have so many questions," I began to say. She cuts me off, "And all of your questions will be answered soon. This will not be the only time we talk. We will talk closer to time." The next thing I know, all I hear is the constant beeping of a machine. Beep... Beep... Beep. I tried to open my eyes but it felt like they'd been glued shut. "No Dad, the doctor already knows she had wolfsbane in her system!" Who's voice is that? What is wolfsbane? Am I in the hospital because I was drugged? I started to freak out. Is that why I had that dream? I could have sworn that felt real. Because it was. There it was again! I must be hearing things from being drugged. No Marie, I'm real. The dream you had was real, you were in the part of your mind that I live in. Things you have been told are fairytales, like vampires, fairies, and even werewolves are real. My name is Astrid and I am your wolf. We should have met when you turned of age at 16 but I haven't been able to reach you until now. I'm afraid something is keeping me repressed and we need to figure out what before I get locked away again. Is this voice trying to tell me that I'm a werewolf? Like actually going to grow canines and sprout fur? I must have been drugged. I need you to trust me, Marie. Something is off and it has been for quite some time. Please trust me until I give you a reason not to. I need to rest some now and get stronger for when we need it. Suddenly, my head felt empty again. I tried not to think about the voice in my head and how comforting it was. It had me thinking back to the dream I had and how I wasn't scared when I heard the wolf howl. It felt as if the wolf was calling out to me, not trying to hurt me. "I can't give it to her without the doctor knowing I was the one giving it to her." The guy that drugged her was in the room with her! She needed to tell someone! She needed to scream but she couldn't make a sound. She heard his footsteps like he was pacing around the end of the bed. The voice was so familiar, but with a headache coming to the front of her mind she couldn't put together who it belonged to. "Hopefully she will wake up in the morning and the doctor will release her to be monitored at the pack house. Then I can just make her breakfast in the morning as usual and all of this worry would be for nothing." Breakfast? She had to have been having another dream. That would also explain the crazy voices. Her husband would never drug her. He was one of the only people who truly cared about her, even if their marriage was fake. She trusted him with everything. This was just another one of her nightmares and she would wake up as soon as Elliot woke her up to get on the plane for their honeymoon. She knew one thing for sure, if she woke up tomorrow in a hospital room, she was not going to let a soul know. She was going to act like she was asleep and listen to find out if she could find out any more information. If he really was the one drugging her, she needed to get away. But he had money and a lot of it. He would always be able to find her.She needed to be smart about this and have a plan.
