Chapter Three

Luca   I sipped the amber liquid, but the taste barely registered, even as I licked it off my lips as I watched her dance. She was just as timid as she had been by the pool, which was ridiculous as she moved very well. I wasn’t the only man to notice, and it made me want to visit violence on every single one of them. Running in to her in the elevator had been a stroke of luck in my favour, I had found out pretty quick after spotting her what floor she was on, even her room number. It paid to be related to the owners of the hotel. She was in one of the more basic rooms, sharing with the gobby platinum blonde who had first caught my attention. Modest room for a modest girl. Not that she looked modest in that god damn dress. She looked obscene but it was adorable watching her tug at the hem trying to cover legs I just couldn’t seem to take my eyes off. “What got into you?” I flicked my gaze back to Stefano. “Nothing” I brought the glass to my lips only to find it empty. And set it back onto the table softly. “What is it about her that has you all twisted in knots?”  He scanned the room constantly looking for some threat, but he knew what and who I was watching. “Good taste though, who knew the timid little mouse would scrub up like that” He was leering now, and I could feel my fists clench. “I don’t blame you at all, I would be all over that as well” “Shut up” I couldn’t sit here any longer and listen to this s**t. “I’m going to get a drink” “They have table service you know” Stefano was mocking me, a thing not many men dared do. He knew exactly why I was heading to the bar, it had nothing to do with a drink and everything to do with the blonde in the sparkling pink dress who was currently leaning heavily on it, a slight sway moving her body. Though whether she was drunk or just, moving to the music I wasn’t sure. “Shut up” I threw over my shoulder as I made my way around the dance floor. People parted, got out of the way as quickly as they could. I looked dangerous and sometimes that worked in my favour. Wasn’t too sure if it would with her though. She had been barely able to look me in the face without a blush heating her cheeks. “She’s right you know” I had sidled easily next to her, not touching but there was barely an inch between us as she lent heavily on the bar waiting to be served. I motioned with my hand and saw the bar tenders eyes light up. “what can I get you Mr. Moretti?” “Whatever the lady wants and my usual “I didn’t even bother turning to face him as he busied himself with the drinks. Being me, had its perks.  “And put it on my tab” I waited until she blustered her order, eyes flickering over me. And there was that blush again. Adorable. “She’s right you know” I tried again, leaning down so she could hear me better. She turned then, and from this angle I could see right down the front of her dress. I bit back a groan. No bra. “What, who’s right?” Then she looked up at my face and her blue eyes widened.  “Oh, thank you for the drink. You didn’t have to” She pulled the drink towards her, her face averted. “It was my pleasure, I’m Luca Moretti” I smiled easily down at her. “Alice” She held her hand out formally, stiffly but I heard her sharp intake of breath as I brushed my lips over her knuckles. “Bellissima” Her blue eyes widened. “What did you say?” “I called you beautiful in Italian” “Ohhh” she giggled and gulped on her drink, almost choking. “Is that where you are from?” She was so cute, trying to make small talk. “My family yes” I gave her a smirk and watched as she took in the expensive suit. I had ditched the jacket, and the sleeves of the royal blue shirt I had under it were rolled up over my tan forearms.  “What was you saying before, I didn’t quite catch it?” “I said your friend is right” She smelt of crisp green apples, her shampoo I was guessing. “Right about what?” “What she said in the elevator, any man who would cheat on you is a total Stronza” “That was a private conversation” Her voice held hurt, were there tears in her eyes. Suddenly I felt like the asshole. “Ohh baby, he’s not worth your tears. Have a look around. Every man in this place has his eyes firmly stuck on your legs” I watched her from under hooded eyes as I sipped my drink.  She was just to perfect. Who knew the clean-cut type was exactly what I wanted. “Yet you are the only man to approach me” “Oh, don’t take that to heart baby, I’m just the meanest son of a b***h in this dump, If I wasn’t about there would be a line of guys trying to get a taste” I was being to blunt I could see it in the way her lips pursed as she looked me over.  Did she know what I was? What I was capable of? “Is that right?” “Oh, it’s right” I pushed as strand of her hair behind her ears, it had kinked up even though the air conditioning was on full.” what do you say…” “Alice, come on it’s your turn” The platinum blonde stopped short, her eyes wide as she tracked the fact that my fingers hadn’t left her friends face yet.  “Oh, I didn’t mean to interrupt” “Your turn Alice?” There was a question in my voice. “It’s just a silly game” she looked mortified but whether that was because she had let me touch her or that her friend had rudely interrupted us, I wasn’t sure. “Its Casey’s Hen party, she’s getting married in a few weeks” “Congratulations” I didn’t even bother turning. “Maybe I’ll see you around then Alice”
