Another day ended and Jaden had never felt so exhausted in her life. Not even her brutal training could prepare her for the infectious and cheerful people of the Gallant and their celebrations. So she decided to turn in early. Out of obligation and acting, Justin escorted Jaden to her room. Apparently, they were sleeping separately which suited Jaden fine. But she felt unproductive because she hadn’t found a clue to achieve her mission.
As both of them reached Jaden’s door, he said a good night and walked off. But Jaden suddenly called him.
“Umm, if you have time tomorrow, could you possibly take me around the left wing? I was wondering if there’s a library there”, said Jaden rather shyly. She was really being headstrong of being that way. She felt really, really embarrassed.
Justin was quite surprised by the request but he was willing to assist her and so he’d easily agreed. “Sure. I don’t think there’s anything interesting around there. It’s rarely used. But if it’s what the Queen asked, then I can’t decline, can I?”
“Thank you, Justin”, Jaden felt assured. She turned the doorknob to her room.
“Jaden”, he suddenly called her name. Jaden paused. “Don’t stray around the castle so much. Whatever happens, I’m right next door, alright?”
Oh, he was trying to tell me that!? “I’m not a kid…”
He giggled, “I knew you’d say that. After all we have quite an age difference plus, you’re the senior here. But…” he suddenly approached and confronted her, looking down on her, “I hope you don’t think of me as a mere younger brother and at least trust me as a husband or an ally in this foreign land for you”. And with that, he left with a wave.
What was that just now? Jaden couldn’t make out the deal with him. What is wrong with him? Seriously, this was only the first day of their marriage and he was already acting so weird. Has he caught a disease or something?
Justin stayed up a bit later that night. He suddenly felt an urge to do some readings and probably a little investigation.
