Part 3

Anna licked her lips nervously. She had not expected Taylor Russo of all to walk in her class. Why was he here of all places? She had so many questions going around in her head as he walked towards her. Anna was confused because she thought he had no interest in Psychology. Or did she not know him at all? Whatever she tried not to bounce her leg against the desk awkwardly and instead focus on the laptop in front of her. It was blank save for the two words she typed on the top. She felt grateful that she was dressed in a decent tee, the Vuitton white loose tee and Pepe jean shorts. For once, she didn’t walk with her bed hair and brushed them neatly. Her dress shoes were new, almost shining at the tip from the number of times she polished them. Anna should have seen that coming. The inevitable confrontation with Tylor but nothing prepared her. It became clear to Anna that unlike her, he wasn’t shocked or frozen. Maybe a little taken back to see her in the front bench which made her think that he might already know. How was that possible? Then it clicked her that Victor, Violet's twin and Tylor are still best of friends. He might have told Tylor. She tried not to gawk at him. Tylor was still the most handsome man she had ever seen. He had cut his hair, no longer messy but neatly gelled back. He looked older, his jawline more defined, with more of an angled face. His eyes were still piercing as ever. He was wearing a tight white shirt, almost showing off his muscular chest and black ripped jeans, a jean jacket on top. Her ex looked good, really good. Anna wanted to disappear. Was he thinking the same about her? She wondered. Did she still look pretty like before? Anna was aware of how weak and pale she had gotten over one year and six months. Her hair was no longer shiny and sleek but chopped around the edges. She knew that her face didn’t glow at every single thing like before. Sometimes she felt like a gloomy cloud was following her everywhere, keeping her away from feeling something. It took her a second to realise that the chair beside her was pulled. Tylor slumped down. She exhaled a deep breath, feeling the heat of his body against her. There was a few inches gap in between them, but it was a lot closer than she imagined. From up close, she could inhale his dark chocolate and musk scent, making her eyes roll behind. “Hi” She whispered, clearing her throat, her eyes on him. Tylor raised his brow, turning towards her and blinked, “Excuse me?” Her face heated up at his stare on her. “I said, hi.” “I heard the first time.” Tylor rolled his eyes, setting up his laptop. “Oh” Anna parted her lips, not knowing what to say. Why did he pretend not to hear? “I hate talking to strangers so I would appreciate if you don’t disturb me” He sneered, focusing back on his laptop. It felt like someone had physically crushed her heart. She let out a sigh, feeling a mixture of vile and disappointment. That was exactly what she expected from him, but it still hurt. It hurt to be reminded that Tylor had moved on over the past one and half year while she was still stuck on their broken relationship. She was still in love with him. Tylor didn’t love her anymore- probably stopped loving her after the way she stomped on his heart. He probably had someone to go back to. He might have moved on already. The knowledge made her curl up. Also, the fact that he blatantly made it clear that they were nothing but strangers hurt her. He didn’t even want to be acquainted with her. Tylor wished to erase their entire past and pretend like they don’t know each other. Pretend like they never liked each other, never kissed or made out, never laughed together, never cuddled and spent most of every day together. He wanted to erase all of the memories. Nausea crawled up in her throat. She wheezed, quickly covering up and staring back at the professor. Tylor wanted to forget everything, and she wanted it all back. How was she going to survive the entire year with him in her class? *** “What the f**k?!” Violet exclaimed, her eyes wide as Anna finally finished explaining. She tried not to groan in response. At first, she thought that Violet didn’t need to know that because her friend was dramatic. After the breakup, she rudely picked the sides and never talked to Tylor. Girl code and all. It hurt Anna because Violet was good friends with Tylor. She didn’t have to do that, but Anna was hurting, so her best friend did it without a thought. Victor, however, was oblivious to the entire thing and remained friends with Tylor. “Did he really say that?!” Violet questioned while Ezra stared at them with a blank look on her face. Anna tried to fill in as much as she could without breaking down, but her new friend was still lost. “Yeah” Anna breathed, nervously wriggling her fingers together. She felt embarrassed as she thought more about the way Tylor behaved in the class. After he politely asked her not to disturb which was equal to ‘f**k off’ he purposely slid the chair away from her in mid-class. As soon as the class was done, he was the first one to storm out. She didn’t even get the chance to talk to him. “What an asshole!” Violet huffed, crossing her arms against her chest. Anna called her best friend as soon as she was done with the class. There was no way she could hold it till after college classes. Her thoughts were all over the place, and she was going to talk herself into a panic attack. Violet was the only one who would easily distract her from slipping into that space. “Vi...” Anna warningly stared at her friend. She didn’t like when her best friend cursed Tylor. It was not his fault. “Yeah yeah I know I shouldn’t be cursing him.” Ezra breathed, “This is very confusing. You broke up with him then why are you defending him?” Anna shrugged. Violet scoffed, “Because she’s still in love with him. He’s so dense I can’t believe it. I can’t believe my stupid twin brother didn’t tell me anything about Tylor.” “He must be busy” Anna lamely intervened. She didn’t want Violet to fight with her brother again. They always do that on the phone, and it ends in Violet getting upset for three straight days. “Busy doing what? He’s yet to hear back from his community college” Violet rolled her eyes. “I will call him now” With that, her best friend stood up and walked out before Anna could say anything. She let out a sigh. Maybe telling her was not a good idea. Shaking her head, she focused back on the cold coffee. It was watery by now, and she cringed, taking a huge sip. Ezra stared at her with a confusing look on her face. “What are you thinking?” Anna nudged her. Ezra pressed her lips together, concern written all over her face. “About you. What are you going to do?” Anna softly sighed. She didn’t like people worrying about her. Things have been difficult for her, but she managed to handle them on her own, just like she always did. “What I can do? It’s not like I can drop out of the class because of him. He’s a new student of the same college which means I’m going to see him everywhere on the campus. I will have to learn to deal with it." Ezra frowned, “I don’t like that plan.” It took Anna a few seconds to stare back at her before responding. “What else can I do?” Anna questioned. She did not have an option other than accepting Tylor is back. “I mean..it won’t be that bad?” She rushed to continue as Ezra opened her mouth to argue. “Maybe this is my fate. I think interacting with him will help me finally get over him.” Ezra made a sound, “Do you think that? But I guess that’s a possibility. From what you have told me Tylor seems different now, which means you’ll be able to separate him from the person you’ve been in love with all this time.” Anna made a face. “Don’t make that face you can’t deny it,” Ezra narrowed her eyes together. “Ezra he’s a good guy alright. Don’t be like Violet. I am the one you both should be hating because I broke his heart. It’s not the other way around.” “And yet you are the one hurting the most.” At that, Anna gaped at her friend like a fish out of water. For the first time, she felt speechless to that. It was true, something she can never deny. *** Follow my socials to stay updated Facebook: The Scripturient (Join my private group on f******k, “san_2045 squad” for exclusive fun) Instagram: san_2045
