Chapter 2: Decorating (Nick’s POV)

1487 Words
“Come on Dylan, I have to get this stuff home and help my sister set up everything for the party tonight!” I yelled at my best friend, who was trying to have a decent conversation with April. He’s been in love with her for as long as I can remember, but she doesn’t seem to be interested in a relationship. At least not with him. But hey, what can I say, I don’t blame him, she was very beautiful. She was tall, had light red hair, or as he likes to call it, ‘Auburn Blond’, gorgeous green eyes and a smoking hot body. She was smart and above all that, she was good in sports. What more could a guy ask for?  “Yeah, Yeah, I’m coming.” He responded slightly irritated and started walking into my direction.  “Open the car will you?” I had been waiting with all this stuff outside for a while now, because I didn’t have the car keys. “So did you guys actually talk today?” I asked with a sarcastic tone while putting everything in the trunk. You see, every time he tried to have a conversation with her, he would say the most random and stupidest things, or couldn’t remember words, as in plural. He would make a fool out of himself, but it was fun to watch though. “HAHA, very funny! Just get everything in the car and shut up!” He sounded annoyed and I couldn’t help but laugh.  When I was finishing up, I could feel a piercing gaze fixed on my back, but when I turned around I couldn’t see anyone. Strange... I got in the passenger seat and we started driving to my place. Dylan switched the radio on and the song ‘Viva la Vida’ was playing. I turned it down a little making him look at me with an annoyed expression. He’s been upset all day and I had no idea why. “Look, I know you are mad, but can you please just tell me why?”  He looked at me with a frown on his face while he scoffed “And stop being such an i***t” I snapped at him.  “You know damn well why I am mad!” He snarled back.  “Okay, is this about the party?”  “Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner!” He mocked me.  “Dude, you know I would rather have you at my party, but you know why you can’t come…” I tried pointing out the obvious.  “I know, but I don’t see the problem, I’ve been at your place before…”  “Yes, but this time it’s different, there are Alphas from other packs at my place for some business and my mom prohibited you coming. She actually said NO Dylan. They can not know about you, it could be dangerous. Not all packs are as open to humans as ours…” I tried reasoning with him. “Ugh, fine, I understand… But promise me we'll go out tomorrow instead!” I sighed and nodded.  “She actually said NO Dylan huh?” He asked me with a stupid grin on his face and we both started laughing.  The drive to my place wasn’t that long. The leaders and warriors of my pack, ‘The Crescent Moon Pack’, lived just a few miles outside the human town in a giant house. It was hidden in the woods, so it wasn’t that easy to locate us. We were one of the biggest and strongest packs in America, and one of the few that actually lived among the humans. Normally werewolves go to separate schools, and don’t communicate that much with them, but my parents insisted that my sister and I did. They told us that we could learn a lot from them. Most packs don’t trust them, because of the hunters, but I like them. They are just like us, without the wolf part obviously.  Once we arrived, Accalia, my one year older sister came to help unload the car. My sister was a much desired wolf, she was absolutely stunning. She had light brown hair that reached down to her waist, a perfect skin tone and the thing that made her so special and desired, was that she had ‘Heterochromia Iridis’, or easily put, she had two different eye colors. Her right eye was blue and the left one was brown. Besides all that, she was a wonderful and kind person, the best big sis I could ask for.  When we finished, Dylan took off and we started to prepare everything.  “How was your day baby brother?” I hated when she called me that… I was bigger than her… “It was okay, Dylan got mad at me because he couldn’t come to the party, but you know how he is… How was yours?” I asked her in return. “Ow mine was amazing, I finally found my mate!” Her voice was filled with excitement.  Let me explain, the Moon Goddess chooses a perfect mate for every werewolf and when you meet that person, you know you’ve found ‘The One’. You feel completed and you need nothing more than that person. As humans like to call it: ‘True Love’. “Wow, are you for real? So, who is the unlucky guy?” I mocked as I stopped blowing up balloons. “His name is Alex and he is the next Alpha of ‘The Blue Moon Pack’” She answered with a huge smile on her face. I always knew she was Luna material. “Well, I’m really happy for you sis! You deserve to be happy.” I responded, pleased with her big news.  “So when am I going to meet him? You know, as your future Alpha, I have to approve of him before he can start dating you!” I teased.  “Maybe you are the future Alpha, but you're also still my baby brother and you still have to listen to me!” She said sarcastically. I looked at her and started mockingly repeating her words.  “You’ll get to see him tonight, at your party, that WE should be preparing!” She snapped all of a sudden. I took the hint and started to blow up some more balloons and helped her put up the banners.  When everything was ready, I went to my room to take a shower and prepare myself. I put on a pair of black jeans and a white v-shaped t-shirt. When I made my way downstairs, my parents were back and waiting for me with a bright smile on their faces.  “So how is our birthday boy doing?” My mom asked. She was a very kind and respected person. Whenever somebody needed help or advice she was there. She was a great mother, wife and most of all an amazing Luna. And she was a beautiful woman.  “Ready for your party?” My father questioned before I could respond to my mom. He was a strong and powerful Alpha, he taught me everything I know and I hope that one day I can become half the Alpha he is.  “I’m great, but it’s not my birthday yet. And yes dad, I’m excited for tonight.” I responded to both their questions at the same time. “Well I don’t care! We are just so exhilarated that our little boy is growing up, so we wanted to give you your birthday present early.” My mom said with an ear to ear smile, while revealing a small box from behind her back. “Come on now, open it!” She ordered me, kind of pushy. Just as I was about to open it, my sister came running down the stairs with a bigger box in her hand yelling, “WAAAIIITT! You have to open mine first!”  She reached us and gave me her gift while trying to catch her breath. We all looked at her with a frown on our faces and I started to chuckle a little.  I opened her present and inside was a black leather jacket.  “You know me too well” I smiled “Thank you, it’s awesome,” I admitted before giving her a kiss on the cheek. “Okay, now open ours and her present will make more sense…” My mother stated. I looked at her with a frown on my face not knowing what that was supposed to mean. I took off the lid, revealing a key.  “Mom, dad, are you for real?” I asked with my jaw dropped and my eyes widened in surprise. I looked at the three of them and they were all nodding and smiling. I ran outside and there it was... A new sports bike! The one I’ve been begging for for a few months now, but my mom didn’t want to get me one because she thought it was too dangerous.  “But how, wha-, whe-?” I couldn’t seem to find the right words.  “Your dad and I had numerous conversations and he convinced me that you are responsible and now old enough to have one.”  “And now Dylan and Accalia don't have to drive you around all the time.” My dad added.  “Oh my god, mom, dad I’m speechless… This is amazing, thank you guys so, so much.”  “You’re welcome sweetheart. Now go and put your bike in the garage, because the first guests will be arriving soon.”
