The Broken Omega

I was alone in the forest, having a peaceful time. Today is a full moon and those who got mates were wherever they wanted to be, a few elders were howling at the moon. But I was alone in a dark and deserted place, licking my wounds. I am an omega who works in the alpha’s kitchen. I had broken a plate and got the beating of my life, I could see dried blood on my forearms and legs. I should heal fast but because of my predicament, I wasn’t healing as fast as other wolves. I have asthma and I could get an attack at any time. My wolf, Fiona, is a tiny wolf that takes a lot of time to shift. I'm not complaining though, I love whatever the moon goddess gives me. The rustling breeze calmed my nerves and I closed my eyes, breathing in the fresh air and suddenly my eyes snapped open. I began to smell a faint odor, it was pleasantly good and Fiona began to purr and wiggle her tail. A force pushed me forward and I began to walk slowly, my legs leading the path and the familiar scent began to fill my nostrils. I could feel dread and power in the air, the aura that filled my nostril began to make my whole body quake with fear. I know this scent, it’s filled with extreme power, my terror, no wolf could be in the same room with this person without bearing their necks. My heart began to thump very fast as I felt pulled towards the scent, I felt myself transferring emotions to someone who wasn’t responding. It was the mate bond, I would find my mate tonight, why would my mate have the scent of our dreaded alpha, is he a guard? A patrol guard? Whosoever it is, I just want the person to be loving. Mate would love us, I’m sure of that, my wolf Fiona replied as she jumped around happily, she was purring and wagging her tail with her tongue hanging out excitedly. I began to race into the forest, the thick scent of our alpha filling my nose, other days I would have choked and had an attack but I guess the mate bond was strong enough to protect me. I couldn’t stop running and thinking about who my mate would be, Fiona kept leaping and purring with delight. I stopped in front of a large tree, my eyes resting on a tall and white wolf who had a menacing look. I halted and fear began to fill my stomach, why was Alpha Thoedore here alone, without any patrol guard and why was he scowling at me with his fangs bared. He sauntered into his human form within seconds, standing naked and huge before my small frame. He was naked but I was too scared to access his body that was illuminated by the moonlight, I had to bow my head, his aura was too domineering. He growled at me and I shrunk back with fear, Fiona was protesting to be let out but I wasn’t about to face the wrath of the merciless Alpha Theodore. Mate! Mate! Mate is big and capable, mate is very strong, Fiona was chanting these words inside of me and I clasped a hand to my mouth. This is impossible, it must be a mistake, no! I can’t be the mate of Alpha Theodore, he is the most powerful and dreaded man, I knew better than to go close to him. His black eyes were watching me closely like that of a hawk, I could feel my whole body burning from his intent gaze. The mate bond began to burn in my chest, my heart was racing very fast and suddenly, I raised my head and locked gaze with him. “Mate” I said in my mind and forced my gaze down, I was praying fervently to the moon goddess that he wouldn't punish me for what I did. What punishment would he give me? Alpha Theodore would never fail to punish anyone who dared to raise their heads when he was around. “What did you call me?” His thick and compelling voice brought me back and I staggered, too afraid to stand straight. I began to shake my head vigorously, did I say it outloud? Did he hear me? “No. Nothing…” I could feel Fiona howling and stepping back with trepidation. The cool breeze wasn’t chilly enough to quench the growing heat. The tension between us began to grow thick. He took slow and short strides towards me, his gaze fixated on me, I could see despise and fury in his eyes. Each step made the ground quake and I could feel a convulsion coming through. “Did you call me your mate?” He screeched and to my own horror I nodded slowly. The next moment he grabbed my neck furiously, his dark eyes watching me with hatred and his muscular hands tightening around my neck as he lifted me off the ground. My eyes popped out as I struggled to breathe, he was cutting my breath slowly but no matter how hard I swung my tiny legs, there was nothing I could do. “How dare you? How dare you, worthless thing, call me your mate!” He barked as he slammed me to the ground vehemently. I could hear my ribs cracking as my small back hit the ground, I winced with pain, whimpering as I crawled to rest on a tree. He had a sneer on his face as he sized me up, I was more like wolf food in front of him. It would take him just minutes to eat up my bones but I was pack and we never eat pack mates no matter what. He pressed towards me and I howled in pain, I tried to move back but my body was just too weak. Even Fiona was whimpering and trying to nurse her broken ribs, it would take days if not weeks for us to heal completely. “Who are you?” He demanded thunderously and I kept silent, my soft cries the only sound that could be heard. My heart was pounding seriously and Fiona was shrieking out of sadness and pain, she found it hard to believe that her mate didn’t recognize her. Mate is cruel, I felt sad for her. “Shift!” I heard his command and my eyes widened with pain and panic. No! I can’t shift, not when I’m wounded, not in front of him. I couldn’t let him see my small wolf… “Shift! It’s an alpha command!” He bellowed and tears began to drop from my eyes. No! I can’t shift, no matter how hard I try to block out the alpha command from my head and focus on something else I couldn’t. The pain I felt inside was unbearable, I gritted my teeth, still struggling but it was no use, the pain kept increasing and I was on the verge of death. With a loud yelp, I rose from the ground, bones breaking as the pain of shifting hit me, I felt nauseous and I felt like puking out my whole insides. This was the greatest pain of all after the alpha command. After 5 long and painful minutes, I stood in front of him, breathing heavily with my head bowed. What is mate thinking? Fiona whimpered and I raised my head to see horror written all over his face… It turned to a snicker and he watched me from up to down, concealing the laughter at my small and frail wolf. “What is this? Isn’t this dog food?” He mocked as he kicked me with his big leg and I cried out. Mate doesn’t want us, he even rejected us before he met us, Fiona was yelping with pain. “Are you crazy? How do you expect yourself to be my mate? Is the moon goddess insane? Do you think she’ll pair me with a box of bone and fur like you?” He thundered and I shivered, another wave of fear hitting me. My tummy was in a turmoil and my whole body was pounding, I couldn’t understand how I was feeling and the next moment. “Argh!” I yelled as I spilled out whatever was inside of me, my head was low as I kept puking , my fore and hind legs sprawled about. All these while Alpha Theodore just watched me with disgust, not only was I weak before him, I was also very dirty. His eyes were clouded with his lashes and his lips curled up, there was no telling what he was thinking. “You think you’re my mate? Then I suppose you would live with me in the pack house from now henceforth” He began to chuckle evilly as he stroked his jaws. What does mate mean? I can’t connect with his wolf, this isn’t good. Is mate going to kill us?
