Chapter 3: Parting Ways A phone rang from Nico's pocket and he groaned in frustration, not moving a muscle. “Damn,” he cursed quietly, finally leaning up to reach in his pocket with one hand while the other returned to glide along her slit. His jaw clenched as he spoke into the phone, frustrated beyond belief over the interruption. “Yeah?” he answered unceremoniously, and then silence as he listened to the familiar voice on the other end of the line. And as quickly as it had begun, he knew the moment he heard the voice, his time with this incredibly desirable woman was over. He cursed silently over and over again as he listened, already knowing exactly what it was he was called to do. “I'll take care of it,” Nico spoke again, frustration now clearly evident in his tone. He hung up the phone then, jamming it back into his pocket and he exhaled loudly, pulling Sarah's dress back down over her thighs. And suddenly she shared in his frustration, knowing that whoever it was on the other end of the line had abruptly brought her casual encounter to an end. “I am more sorry than you can imagine, Sarah, but I have to leave now,” he told her, reaching out to help her to her feet. She didn't know what to say; the arousal coursing through her body clouded her mind, rendering her near incapable of coherent thought. “If there was any way I could avoid it, I would,” he continued, his voice sounding almost pained. “But, I have to see you again. This isn't finished yet,” he whispered, pulling her into his arms once again. His mouth was on hers then, crushing her lips beneath his with an urgent desire that matched her own. He pulled away after a moment, breathing hard. “I can have someone take you to your hotel,” he offered, meeting her gaze. “No, that's alright thank you,” she refused, not certain she wanted Nico to know where she was staying. He nodded, his searching gaze obviously trying to read what thoughts were running through her mind. This wasn't what she had intended; this was supposed to be a single night of reckless, wanton pleasure. But now that it had been cut short, he wanted to see her again, and every single aroused fiber of her body was screaming at her to agree. But who had been on the other end of the line? Was it a girlfriend? A wife? She hadn't noticed a ring, but it would be easy enough for a married man to remove the evidence prior to heading out for a night of infidelity. For what other reason could he need to leave in such a hurry? “There is no other woman,” Nico whispered, guessing the subject of her thoughts accurately. “I'm afraid it is more complicated than that,” he continued cryptically. He still had his arms around her and he tightened his hold then, but instead of kissing her, he moved along her jaw, and then down her neck, alternatingly teasing her with his lips and nipping ever so gently with his teeth. The combination was unlike anything she'd ever experienced; it was sensual and erotic, and naughty at the same time. It had her hurtling toward ecstasy at full throttle, forgetting about her concerns entirely. He groaned then, looking back in the direction from which they'd come. Sarah followed his gaze, seeing a vehicle come to a stop at the side of the road by the bar. Well, if it had been a wife on the phone, she hadn't waited for him to find his own way home. She half expected him to tell her to hide then, not wanting to be caught in the act by a jealous partner. But instead, he released his grasp on her, taking hold of her hand. Kissing her lips gently one last time, he started back toward the road, pulling Sarah along with him. It didn't seem like the wisest move if a woman was indeed waiting for him, but perhaps he assumed he was an expert liar, able to talk himself out of the stickiest of situations. “Great! And I'm going to be right there in the middle of it,” she worried silently. Did he expect that she would help him lie? She had no doubt that he would be an incredible lover, but she wasn't about to deceive another woman for the opportunity to see him in action—though she knew at least a small part of her would gladly play a role in any rouse to have his hands back on her body in that moment. They walked silently across the thirty yards or so of sand, Nico slowing as they neared the vehicle. Now that they were closer, she realized it wasn't just any vehicle that had come to put a halt to her one night stand; it was an exquisite looking, jet black limousine. “What the hell?” she wondered. Hadn't she surmised that Nico was likely a deadbeat of some sort? What kind of deadbeat had a limousine coming to pick him up from a night at the bar? Reaching the limo, Nico came to a halt, turning to face her. “I have to see you again, Sarah.” It didn't sound at all like a question. He wasn't asking, he was telling her. But as he leaned down to kiss her gently, releasing her hand before stepping toward the limo, she wondered if he had meant it at all. He didn't ask for her phone number or even the name of the hotel she was staying at. She watched as the driver stepped out of the vehicle, coming around to open the door for Nico. Though it was obviously poor manners, she tried to glance inside the back seat surreptitiously, attempting to glean some sort of clue about who this dark stranger really was. But although she could vaguely make out the figure of another man within, she could decipher no revealing features. He drove off then, leaving Sarah more confused than ever. Even more, she was painfully aware of the unrequited arousal that coursed through her still, fearing it would not be satisfied until she and the sexy stranger could finish what they had started.
