united love couple

758 Words
It was late on a Sunday evening. It was dark and dim outside, everyone was already safe and warm on their beds. Except for one young woman, every Sunday night she quietly left her home. She walked silently down the old streets past the old houses in this old little village. Wearing nothing more than her black nightgown and woolly socks, she walked silently toward the meadow that lay just outside the village. Once she arrived at the meadow, a deep sigh left her full lips. You could hear her pain and her sorrow in this one deep sigh. She looked up at the moon, which seemed to shine brighter than usual every Sunday. A tear left her beautiful blue eyes as she said to the moon, I am coming my love. Without hesitation, she stepped onto the evening wet grass with her woolly socks and continued on her way. In the middle of the meadow is a big beautiful old oak tree, she stops for a moment and presses her hand against the tree as she thought back to all the beautiful moments at this doom. She thinks back to all the late nights when she and her loved ones lay under this tree, for a moment a smile appeared on her face until she thought back to the one unpleasant memory. The night her lover lost his life at this tree to the villagers. She let her hand drop down and dangle along her graceful body, softly she whispers it wasn't your fault old friend. Slowly she looks away from the tree and continued on her way. Just beyond the meadow is an old abandoned church, with next to it an old abandoned cemetery where no one came anymore. No one except this old woman. She walked on to the end of the cemetery and stopped at a small tombstone. She collapsed with her head down and her arms limp on her legs, softly she began to cry. She looked up at the small tombstone and softly asked: is it already time my dear, give me a sign. She waited and listened hoping for a sign from her lost love but, nothing happened. She closed her eyes turned around and rested her back against the small tombstone. Lovingly but full of sorrow she said: calm down my love as every Sunday you are not alone this evening. Only when the first bit of light appears did she get up and walk silently but quickly back to her father's old house. This went on for a few more Sundays until her father gave her heartbreaking news. He told her with pride but mostly envy: surely you didn't ruin everything by giving yourself to that dirty poor peasant man, there is only one man left in another village who wants you as his wife. He will be here in two nights he is making a long journey, I hope you will not drag our family name through the mud again. She just nods, didn't say a word to her father. That evening she again walked silently but quickly back her the cemetery of her beloved. In front of his tombstone she collapsed and begged him for a sign. This time the wind began to blow hard around her and she knew this was his sign. She got up grabbed a rope she had hidden behind the bushes by his grave long ago. She looked at the small tombstone one more time and then walked back to the old oak tree. She smiled and said: now you get the chance to unite us again old friend. She climbed the tree and prepared everything for her end, for a while she stayed in the tree and enjoyed the beautiful sunrise. A tear escaped her eyes as she let herself fall from the tree. There she was her lifeless body all alone with her old friend. She lost her life on the same tree where her beloved breathed his last. That very day she was found by the villagers and buried next to her loved ones, her father never visited her. Now years later the whole village remembers what happened there by the old oak tree. Meanwhile, the church and cemetery are no longer there. But if you want to believe the villagers' stories, you can still hear the young woman's cries at this spot every Sunday night. And if you listen very carefully by the old oak tree you can now also hear the laughter of the united love couple.
