Enjoy the track, I will be right back. .-.-.-.-.-. Another tiring shift, but luckily my radio started working after the much awaited repair. Singing out loud, I was headed towards home, not knowing what awaited me in the middle of the road. ... "Honk honk!" Eyeing in the rear-view mirror, I was astonished to find a chain of black vehicles following my taxi. Not even understanding anything, I started driving at the highest speed that I could control. The region I was driving in at that time was known for being notorious. Thugs, murder, burglary, drug deals and what not? The Windamere Highway was known to be hell on the earth. A few minutes away from my house, I was surrounded by those black vans from all sides. I had no option other than to stop my engine. "Out of your vehicle, now!" A man in a black suit began to approach my taxi with something black in his hand. Upon closer inspection, I realized that he was aiming at my temple with a gun. Soon, the other men in black started approaching me in the same way as the first one did. "I...Well, I think you are mistaking me for someone else." I tried to outsmart the gunmen even though my voice was as shaky as the leaf rustling in a tree. "Keep your mouth shut and hand me the keys." He commanded, eyeing the car key and my face at certain intervals. I did what I was asked to do. There were nearly twenty armed men in black, and I was solo. Hands at the back of my head, kneeling on the wet road, I had no clue what they wanted from me. I had some cash in my wallet but the way they were searching inside my taxi made it clear that they were after something more valuable than a few dollars I had with me. "Its clear Mark! No sign of her." Said one of them. "Clear!" The person called Mark asked again, to which the former nodded. .... "It is your lucky day boy. You live. I swear I would have shot you myself if we had found her in your vehicle tonight." He said, not even trying to explain to me about the woman he was talking about. "I don't know what you are talking about, sir!" I stated the matter of fact. I was confused at what he was telling me. "You better not. Or else you will have to face the wrath of Mr. Frost!" .... 'Frost?' 'Which Frost was he talking about?' 'Was he talking about that same Frost?' I had known one Mr. Frost, but even if I had so many questions about that person, I chose to remain silent. It was, after all, a matter of my life. "Out of my sight boy." Mark ordered me to get going and I did exactly that. Needless to say that I was beyond scared. I could have even lost my life at the hands of those gunmen. I cared less about whatever they were searching for. My life mattered more than the person they were after. My life mattered more than the questions I had in my mind regarding Mr. Frost. So I drove as fast as I could. If it was a championship, then I would have brought Gold home for sure. But gold seemed less because I was racing for my life. I had to beat death. I only saw a glittery dress when I hit the brakes. Only when her body hit the bonnet did I come to my senses. What was wrong with me? "Do you have a death wish?" "Did you only find my taxi for suicide?" I got out of the car, ranting at whomever I hit just a while back. I was desperate to reach home but an unfortunate thing happened. Pink mini dress, high heels, ponytail, smoky eyes, long manicured nails painted pink matching her outfit - I saw a woman, trying to get up on her feet as I forced myself to approach her. 'Who are you? What are you doing here at this time?' I couldn't control the rage in my voice. I was irritated already. "Please don't shout." She whispered, enough for me to hear her words. "They might hear you." She added. Panic rushed through my senses as I realized instantly who she was referring to. I began to take steps back the more she started walking towards me. 'Listen carefully. You need to save me tonight. My life is at stake.' 'Please don't leave me alone over here. I need your help.' She began to take slow and calculated steps towards me. She seemed to be as worried about her life as I was. "Who was she?" "Why were those men after her?" My mind wasn't working at all. It was only thinking about running away and the woman in front of me was making me late. ... "Do...do you know who is after you?" I asked her and her dismayed expression talked to me. "I could get killed for helping you out tonight." I added further. One bullet is enough to send me back to my mother's abode. I knew that pretty well. "Please help me sir! You don't know what I have done to Mr. Frost. If you leave me here tonight, then I may be losing my life for real." She cried hysterically. "I can't." "I have responsibilities and if I die tonight....." I couldn't bear to say the rest of the things to a stranger. I couldn't tell that my dreams would be crushed if I got killed because of her. She didn't know how essential it was for me to remain alive. I had to live so that I could solve the mystery of my mother's demise. 'Would you say the same thing if it was not me but your sister standing and pleading to you like that?' Her query pricked somewhere in my heart. But I hardened my heart and turned so that I could enter the driver's seat. Her pleas could have touched me back then, but I knew I could not stand a chance against those men in black. They seemed dangerous. They could kill and even get killed by someone for Mr. Frost. ... "I will give you 1 million dollars." I blinked several times, not believing what I heard. Denying her pleas seemed easy, but saying no to that amount of money would be my stupidity.
