The bad boy

2122 Words
He is the Alpha of the Blackwood Red Moon pack; Xavier Blackwood.   Celestina’s POV   As soon as I heard that he was the Alpha of the pack, I was sure he was one who I had an encounter within the wood while on a run. The same eyes beneath that black fur and the smell that engulfed this entire cafeteria confirmed my doubts. Three boys sat at the corner of the cafeteria like the aloof of the school not having a care in the world. My eyes were fixed on Xavier Blackwood, for some weird reason, I can’t take my eyes off of him. I was averted from him by the sound of clearing of throat and Amy’s voice.   “Earth to Celestina.” I turned my attention to the food in front of me. I started fiddling with the chicken of my sandwich. “So, how do you know about these things?” Amy asked me and Peter’s eyes were on me. “Umm, my mother grew up in a supernatural town so she told me a lot about it.” I lied to them with the classic story I have made to explain my knowledge of supernatural things. Amy nodded her head started eating her lunch. “Peter, you know about all this?” I really considered Peter as a common human who was oblivious to the town’s secrets like the half population of the town. “Yepp, a while back dad told me all the horror stories about them.” That earned him a smack from Amy. I chuckled at them. While we talked about these things I got to know that Peter’s dad is the mayor of the town and well he knows many things about us supernatural beings. Amy is from the Wilma coven of the town and she is still learning and working on her spells.   The bell rang notifying us that it was time for our next classes. Before any of us could get up, the three boys got up and left the room like royalties. Suddenly a junior year student came in the way of the Beta James and James held the poor boy by the collar to punish him; I was about to get up but Peter held my hand stopping me with a shaking head from intervening. Alan the gamma calmed him down and left the cafeteria. While all this was going on I missed that someone was staring at me and till I could figure it out they were out of the area.   “Why did you hold me back? These boys can’t behave like that.” I told Peter and Amy while walking to our classes. “They are dangerous and especially for us humans it is better if we maintain our distance from them.” Peter was correct, I can’t get in contact with them and I should avoid them. I nodded my head and got near my class. Peter and I have Biology and Statistics together; with Amy, I have Latin classes. Now I had Geography and I was all by myself. When I stood near the door I saw almost all students were in the class and the only seats left were at the back of the class beside Xavier and his gang. I walked slowly and sat down quietly without attracting any attention.   In the room, I could feel some tension, and then I realized the class was filled with Vampires and werewolves. Geography is an important topic for us to understand the soil and place of our residence. Vampires were all sitting on one side of the room and werewolves on the other. The humans were sitting in the front of the class avoiding all the tension of the room but I am stuck in between them. As much as I tried not to attract attention, luck was not on my side but Professor Johnson entered the class. I let out a breath in relief.   In the class, I was not able to pay attention due to all the anger in the air. Why are these vampires and werewolves angry all the time? I glanced beside my seat and already found Xavier staring at me. His green eyes were fixed on me and I couldn’t comprehend if he was glaring or just observing me. I turned to look at Mr. Johnson. He got everyone’s attention by calling out a student who was talking in between lectures.   “Is there something you wanna share with us, Mr. Miller?” He called out to a vampire student and he replied with a sorry. Again, after a while, he started laughing with his group and yet again interrupting the class. “Is there something funny?” “No, Mr. Johnson.” He again apologized but muttered under his breath ‘your face’ of course nobody else than werewolves and I heard that. I had to control my laugh. That got their attention because only supernatural beings have higher hearing senses. I turned my eyes to my book. After a painfully long hour, the class comes to an end and I literally sprint out of the class. I couldn’t take another minute of the stress of being under somebody’s eyes all the time.   Now, I had a literature class with Natalie. She texted me to meet in the corridor and then we went to the class together. I sat with Natalie and we talked about what happened for the day. Then someone entered the room and without even looking up I knew it was him. Not again. Natalie saw the expression on my face. “On the very first day, you have a problem with the bad boy?” She inquired with a smirk on her face. “Yeah, heard about him. I don’t like his vibes.” “I hear you but you can’t deny he has a mysterious charm.” She pointed to the entire girls who were drooling over him. I am not at all denying that he is handsome, he is like a fire from which you are supposed to stay away. “I have seen better.” That got Xavier’s attention but I ignored him. Nat scoffed at me. “You are gonna die single.” I chuckled at her and turned my attention to Miss Hunter. She was discussing the year plan and the books we were going to cover this year. I felt the hair on my nape standing and eyes on me. I turned back to see Xavier glaring at me. What’s his deal? Has he figured out that I am a supernatural being? These were the questions running through my mind when Natalie tugged my jacket to get my concentration on the class.   After Literature I had Latin classes and Amy accompanied me. Our professor was an Enchantress witch and she was an elder of the coven. Amy told me all about her background that she was a calm and cool elder of their coven who like the teaching profession and she also told me about the vampires in my Geography class. I told Nat to leave for her work; I told her I can manage on my own. She sent me the addresses of the shop from where I can buy a bike.   The shops were nearer to the school so I decided to walk to the bike shop. I was thinking back about the first day of my school. I wanted a normal year like a normal human living the craziest time of my life with fun trips, parties, and my best friend but I got stuck in a town full of supernatural beings. The entire day I had to be on a tiptoe around the school and on top of that, there was Xavier Blackwood. I was far from normal teenager life and somewhere in the back of my head, I was thinking of leaving this town. I walked up to a shop and brought a bike from the saved money. It was a maroon bicycle with stars on it. I liked the color and it was casual.   I rode my bike to the library and it was the first job for the day. It was on Broadway Street and it was full of vampires. The library was along the main street so I felt safe. Natalie has told me about the main places of the town where vampires, werewolves, and witches have settled down. I looked around and the shops looked well maintained even though they had old things and antique vibes. I stood in front of the library and entered inside. There was only an old man sitting behind a desk reading under the light. I walked up to him and called out,   “Hello, sir. Can you tell me where can I find Mr. Arthur?” That was the only name I had after the phone conversation about the job. He looked up at me and well he was a vampire too but something in me told me that he was different from others I met in the town. “You must be Celestina. Hi, I am Arthur. Welcome to my little chateau.” I shook his hand and I felt a warm feeling emitting out of him. He told me the jobs I had to do; it was basically stacking the books, checking the stock, and attending to the customers. “Only elders of the town come every now and then to read my historic books. So, you can easily manage your time.” Arthur told me and got back to his book. I went to the aisle to which he told me to check the books.   I played a light song on my phone and kept it on the shelf. The aisle he sent me to was filled with books about lores, legends, and various myths. This was the reason I was working in an antique library. I got curious about the books; I had already read many books among them. After stacking the books alphabetically, I found the books which I have not read yet but it was time for my shift at Mac’s. Before I could get up, Arthur called me to the front desk.   “I would like to have a conversation with you. Please sit Celestina.” I packed my bag and kept my phone in my pocket and sat in front of him. I nodded and urged him to continue. “I got this book for you.” he handed me an old-looking book and I flipped the pages it was written in an unknown language. I was confused, “This is a book about the royals of the supernatural world.” I was beyond shocked as this was the exact book I was looking for my entire life. “I know you are not a human, or you are not even a common supernatural being. You are the entity who will save the world.” He tried to clear my confusion but I was more confused by his words. “Do you know what I am?” I asked him. “No, dear. But this book does and I know only you can read this.” I flipped the book again but nothing, I kept it in my bag safely. “How do you know…?” suddenly I felt a wave of power and I knew who he was. “You are Mars,” I said in wonderment. He nodded his head with a smile on his face. He was one of the original vampires who was over 1000 years old. I was yet confused about how he found about me; maybe the originals have special powers.   I left the library and made my way to Mac’s restaurant for my shift. I finally got a step closer to my true identity and now I just have to figure out a way to read this book.   Unknown’s POV   A woman with an enchanting beauty gazed through a transparent bubble with a smug smile on her face. “That’s one more step near me, Celestina. I can’t wait to meet you but you will have to wait for a little longer.” She has come this long and I have the perfect place for you in my kingdom. You will be my strength; you will help me to get to my mission. “All in good time, Celestina. All in good time.”
