The Siege Stevens

1085 Words
She partied hard and lively at the Club Valkyrie with her friends and lover but she ended up fighting for her life in the hospital Intensive Care Unit with several tubes connecting her vital body parts to a ventilator and other life-saving devices. She was already unconscious when she was admitted to Asian Hospital. The doctors told her husband that she suffered a severe traumatic head and brain injury that put her in a comatose state. All tests and medical procedures were performed immediately to revive her as her lifeline almost went flat, but she might have been also fighting hard to keep herself alive as the lines went up again as shown in the monitor and it was at a steady rate since then. It had been thirty days since that tragic incident. Siege, her husband, was standing beside her bed, looking at her without any trace of sadness on his face, or even a tear to cry, instead, his eyes were burning with contempt and hate towards the almost lifeless woman. He could not even fathom why he was still keeping her alive. At any time he could just sign the waiver as she was already a hopeless case. The doctor told him that she could be declared brain dead after a battery of tests were performed as the other signs were already evident like being unconscious, unresponsive, and basically relying on life support. They just needed to confirm if her brain had ceased to function, although her heart might continue to beat, it would only be for a matter of time. "Doctor, please proceed with the tests and let me know the results at once before I make my decision," He said coldly "Yes, Mr. Stevens." "Thank you. If there's anything else, please contact my assistant. I will be out of the country for three days. I hope by that time the tests were performed and results are ready" "Sure, Mr. Stevens. We will schedule immediately"  He left the hospital right after without taking another glance at his wife.  That day of the accident, she was supposed to sign the divorce papers. But she had kept him waiting at the lawyer's office. She said she went out of town and would be back in the afternoon. However, unknown to her, Seige had her followed. Everywhere she went was documented and sent immediately to him by his hired private investigator.  She checked in a high-end private resort a day before and stayed overnight with her lover. When she was back in Manila, she met with her friends and went to Club Valkyrie to celebrate a friend's birthday party. Her lover was with her also but was introduced as a friend and business partner. They booked a VIP room and were drinking and partying hard all through the night. Seige was calling her but she deliberately turned her phone off. It became her bad habit. In fact, she was summoned to sign the divorce papers for the third time. Seige, on his part, signed the papers a long time ago when he decided to call it quits. But, Bree, would always come up with an alibi on the first two attempts. On the third time, he already lost his patience so he personally went to the lawyer's office to make sure Bree would show up herself. But, she was figured in a tragic accident. Apparently, she was driving under the influence. Her lover was beside her when they're found. Both unconscious. "Keep the divorce papers for now. The doctor said she might be declared brain dead if the tests would prove that her brain stopped functioning." Siege instructed Thomas, his lawyer, as the latter met him in his office in Taguig City. "I really feel bad for what happened to Mrs. Stevens," said the lawyer but noticing the dark expression on Mr. Steven's face made him stop from commenting further.   "Well, Mr, Stevens, I will take my leave. Just call for me if there's anything else," He shook hands with Siege before heading for the door Siegfried or Seige Stevens was a multi-billionaire and CEO of Stevens Holdings Company. A highly diversified investment company that owns major shares and has a controlling interest in the securities of other companies. He was also the President and  CEO of Stevens Real Estate Development Corp, engaged in constructing real estates like high-end resorts, luxury apartments, hotels, and high-rise condominiums all over the metro and key cities in the Philippines. His complete business portfolio would also include food & beverage, banking, manufacturing and retail, logistics, software development, and entertainment businesses. At thirty-four he was a  famed businessman and a highly acclaimed innovator in all the industries he had interests with. As for his looks, "handsome" might not suffice to describe The Siege Stevens. He was on every inch the "dream guy," adored and admired by the ladies, young and adult alike. He was a good, if not a perfect mix of his parents who were of Greek, Turkish, Filipino, and Australian ancestry. Not to mention, he kept his body in good shape which was a combination of male body types as he stands at five feet eleven inches tall but with an athletic frame and well-defined muscles. He was in the Forbes' List of The Most Sought After Bachelor until he tied the knot with Brianna Haldrin, much to the disappointment of the women who had a crush on him and were secretly hoping to be noticed by him. He used to be seen dating supermodels in most of his outings abroad and even linked with some local celebrities, but he did not comment on any of those. Despite the friendly face he would show when interviewed and featured in magazines, his employees were actually scared of him. In fact, the industry knew very well that he's someone to be feared. His brilliance as a businessman did not translate to brilliance in his attitude. He's strict and a perfectionist, and ruthless in the eyes of those who had received his punishment. His marriage to Brianna, Bree for short, was the end of his glory days as a bachelor and the beginning of his miserable married life. He never wanted to marry in the first place. But it was his forefathers who insisted, or he would be disinherited. He's the only child so he found it ridiculous that he would be disowned or disinherited if he went against their wishes. In the end, he could only obey the elderly.
