A NEW ASSIGNMENT

Pearl’s P.O.V.

“No… Violet… don’t leave me”, I yelled in fear when Violet tried to remove her hand from my grip. She looked behind at me and smiled weakly. The blood was oozing from her head and streaming down on her face. “Vi…ol..et… you are bleeding”, I cried bitterly while gripping her hand tightly. Suddenly the atmosphere around us started changing. The winds were so brutal and the sky went dark. “You have to let me go, Pearl…. Don’t forget that you have to avenge us”, Violet said in a painful. I shook my head while crying aloud. I felt that the wind would blow me away with it.

I screamed in fear when I felt that I was loosing my grip on Violet’s hand. “Violet… I am scared… I am loosing you…. please… don’t let me go”, I yelled while trying to stay routed at my place. I tried to harden my grip on Violet’s fingers but I was loosing. “Violet…. I am scared…. Please don’t leave me”, I yelled again while crying harder than before. I saw a faint smile on Violet and tears in her eyes. She was now completely covered in her blood. “I am sorry, Pearl…. You have to let me go… ready yourself for the war and kill all of them”, she said in a calm voice. I was about to grip her fingers harder when suddenly a strong wind thrashed me brutally and I loosened my grip. The air swoops me high in the air. “Violet”, I yelled while fighting against the wind.

“Violet”, I yelled and shot up on my bed. “Pearl… you scared me girl”, I heard Samantha’s fearful voice and snapped my head towards her. She was sitting beside me on the bed and was trembling hard. I immediately pulled her in my embrace and stroked her back gently. I am sorry… I am really sorry”, I whispered while stroking her back. She relaxed immediately and hugged me tightly. “Another nightmare”, she asked me in a low tone after a while. I just nodded while thinking about my sister Violet. “You have to work hard on controlling your emotions in your dream, Pearl. You can blow your cover anytime in your dreams”, she said in a worried tone. I sighed aloud and then released her from my embrace.

“I know, Sam… it’s just… (I took a deep breath again)…. I know that but the problem is”, I again paused and took a deep breath in defeat. Whenever I dreamt about Violet, I always lost control over me and it was not good for me. “We will talk about this with the queen. She sure has any solution for this”, she said while patting my shoulder and then stood up. “Now… get up.. you have training in the next half an hour. That almighty beta is itching to get a beat by you”, she rubbed her hands mischievously and I laughed at this time. “Sure”, I winked at her and she giggled aloud. “I am going to my workstation now”, she said and then went out of the room.

I sighed aloud and then threw myself on the bed on my back. Samantha was an omega and she is a very good chef. She was a very caring and cheerful girl. We both were of the same age but she hadn’t got her mate yet. She dreamed about her mate every day. Unlike her, I had no intention to get a mate until I got my revenge. I thought about my life so far. After running away from my destructed pack, I ran and ran until I reached the border of the royal pack. The queen who was fortunately near the borders that time with the present beta took me in with an open heart and since then, I am under her supervision. I didn’t know why she introduced me as an omega when she clearly knew that I was beta by blood. She told me that one day, she would tell everything to me until then I needed to keep my powers in check and that was when she started my training as an assassin and also how to control my powers. One could smell me as an omega because of the queen but my real powers were hidden under that smell.

I took a deep breath again and then stood up from the bed. I went straight to the washroom and then finished my business there, brushed my teeth and took a quick shower. I put on my training gear that included a black sports bra with black knee-length shorts. I put my hair in a high ponytail and then came out of the washroom. I took my water bottle and then went out of the room. I jogged towards the training ground where my whole squad was now practising. My squad had fifteen young wolves. We are known as The Recruits and we helped other packs by the orders of our king and queen to get rid of rogue’s attacks. In the past two years, there were an increased number of rogue’s attacks on our nearby packs. I was also working on the strategy of how to finish them all. Also, we had this hunch that there is a pattern in their attacks and this time, all of us were gathered again only to work on finding the pattern.

“Good Morning, Pearl”, one of my colleagues, a young omega, Britanny greeted me in a chirpy voice. She was only sixteen years but a hell wolf. Her omega was also strong witted and skilful when it comes to fighting. “Is everyone here?” I asked her while looking around. “Everyone is here and we are waiting for the Beta Asher to start the training today. He has to teach us some advanced techniques of fighting and is going to teach us today”, she informed me and I nodded. Asher is the future beta once prince Ruth will reign the throne. He is really skilful and our only trainer. I had heard that the queen had trained him herself and it was a great thing.

“Everyone on your mark”, I looked up and saw him standing at his position. I jogged towards my marking that was the first in the line. “The queen has congratulated all of you for your victory in The Red Claw Pack. You did a tremendous job”, he yelled with an appreciation in his voice. “Thank you Beta Asher”, we all yelled in unison. “Now… back on the training”, he ordered us and we all yelled okay in unison again. “Pearl… you will train with me”, he said when I was about to turn towards Britanny. “Yes, Beta Asher”, I said in a formal tone and then jogged towards him. “The queen wants you to meet her after the training today. Your next assignment is on the table”, he said in a low tone this time when I was in front of him in a defensive stance. I nodded and then pulled my fists up in the air while taking a defensive stance in front of him.

He already had passed the message of the queen to me. I only trained with him when the queen had any special orders for me. The next assignment is on the table meant I needed to go on this assignment alone. “You have to be extra careful this time, Pearl”, he said while throwing a lower punch on me that I easily dodged. I had quick reflexes and this was one of my perks. “Is there something for me?” I asked him while dodging his attack again. “You will not like this”, he said in a serious tone and I nodded with a poker face. We both threw punches and kicks on each other for a few minutes in a normal way when he suddenly changed his technique and round kicked me on my back taking me off guard. I staggered on my feet but regained my composure and narrowed my eyes at him. “Focus on his body movement, Pearl… the blow was lethal”, Kara said in the back of my mind and I nodded.

For the next five minutes, I stayed defensive and tried hard to dodge his attacks. I succeeded a few times but got hits most of the time. “Ready girl”, Kara smirked inside my mind and the corner of my lips curled up. “Born ready”, I answered her and then I started attacking Asher aggressively taking him off guard. He quickly regained his composure and tried to dodge my attacks but to his disappointment, I didn’t give him time to recover and I took only two minutes to knock him out. “Damn, Pearl… you always amused me”, he said while panting hard. He was on the ground on his fours struggling for his breaths.

“Thanks, Beta Asher”, I said in a cold tone and then moved back from there. I could feel his gaze on me but this is what I am. One of my perks is to study the move quickly. I always used this skill of mine on the battlefield and almost took my enemy off guard by his own play game. Before they could understand, their soul already had left their bodies. “Where are you going?” Britanny asked me when I was about to leave the training ground. “I have some work”, I said to her and then looked at the jogging track. I needed a run to clear my head first. I was still not over from my nightmare. I put my buds in my ear and started my iPod. I took a deep breath and then started running on the track. I changed my direction towards the forest when I was close to the castle training ground. I didn’t want people to see me and that was why I ran towards the forest. “You forget to suppress your scent”, Kara reminded me and I sighed. I immediately hid my scent. Distraction was not good in our line of work and I should be in the correct state of mind before meeting the queen today.
