Am I In Heaven?

1312 Words
Carole sighed for the umpteenth time as she looked at her watch, the reflection of shining gold falling on her face as she closed her eyes in annoyance. A look of discomfort could clearly be seen and even the guests from her neighboring table looked at her with pity in their eyes. “ Bastard.” She silently muttered to herself without opening her eyes. It had been approximately forty-five minutes since she had been waiting for her date to arrive. “Did he actually ditch me?” Finally opening her eyes, she looked at the cup of coffee which had long been turned cold. Everyone’s pitied eyes made her feel uncomfortable as she gulped down the entire cup with one chug and called for the bill. Even the waiter looked at her sympathetically, which made Carole red with rage. If there was anything she hated in her life, it was to be pitied on by strangers who had no f*****g clue regarding what was actually going on. After paying off her bill she stormed out of the cafe without looking back, her face red and her teeth seething in anger. “Aaahhhhh… Fuckkk… Fuckkkk.. Fffuuuccckkk…” The passers gave her a strange look as she screamed in the middle of the street. “uuhh.. That felt good” After letting out her frustrations through a powerful scream, she tidied up herself and regained her composure. It would be fine if she got stood up on her very first date and that, too, on her special day. After all, she had been single for the first thirty years of her life so there was no way she could not remain single for another year. “ You know what this is fine. In fact, this is more than fine. Relationships are a burden these days and I have no time to invest in a guy while running my farm and company.” Consoling herself, she started walking to take a cab. Suddenly, her phone rang, and she rummaged through her bag to find it. She heaved another sigh, looking at the caller ID as she knew she was about to get burnt the next second. Still, she picked up the phone and a seemingly annoying voice echoed from the other side. “YO.. Carry, how is your date going?” The person on the other side of the call was Mellisaa, a happily married forty-year-old female with two little devils and one little angel. She was Carole’s best friend, a big sister to her and her business manager. Carole knew Mellisa from inside and out, so she decided it would be best to tell her everything in face. Though she was a little excited about her first date, it did not mean she had a lot of expectations. She changed the topic of the conversation and asked about if everyone from the company had already arrived. In order to celebrate Carole’s thirtieth birthday and her company Pure Nature’s third anniversary, a huge party had been organized. She was supposed to join the fun after her date, but since the guy ghosted her, she could join the fun a little early. “Everyone is already here, and they are all asking about you. Hurry up and come as soon as possible.” A big smile appeared on her face as she heard everyone's enthusiastic loud cheer from the other side. Immersed in her conversation, she did not pay attention to the road and therefore did not hear the loud bonking horn. However, when she finally did hear the horn, it was already too late. The two headlights then blinded her vision as she stood frozen until the vehicle finally hit her, making her fly away a few meters before she fell on the road with a loud thud. Warm blood trickled down from her head and she groaned in pain. A great fear clouded her mind. She felt her soul drifting apart from her body. Her vision started to blur and out of the blue she saw her younger two-year-old self playing in the backyard of her old house while her parents were watching her lovingly. In the next second, the scene changed to the day when Carole was celebrating her fifth birthday. She was giggling and smiling, wearing her blue fairy dress and looking ethereal. Her parents looked happy, and she had a lot of friends who were singing the happy birthday song for her. Lying half conscious, drowned in her own pool of blood, Carole wished to go back to when everything was happy and rosy in her life. However, that happy dream did not last long as the next scene that unfolded in front of her made her breath hitch. The figure of her parents lying dismembered and drowned in blood at the site of the accident made her realize the harsh truth. Her parents died in an accident when she was twenty years old and their sudden departure from this world changed the course of her life. The next few years went by in flashes before Carole saw her own accident. She felt cold all over and a smile was on her lips after she came to understand what was happening to her. “huhh.. Is this it? Is this how I am going to die?” Unable to express her thoughts and pain, Carole did the best she could and closed her eyes, accepting the eternal slumber. Meanwhile, from the other side of the phone, Mellisa stood dumbfounded. From the voice she had a hunch that Carole met with something dangerous and unfortunate, but she was not ready to accept this. She, along with a few people, immediately left, and she called an ambulance on her way. She kept praying everything would be fine and nothing would happen to Carole. However, after arriving at the site of the accident, her legs went numb and her body froze. She stumbled on the way and looked around, finally seeing Carole on the stretcher. Her vision blurred though she still figured out the respondents were trying to resuscitate Carole. Mustering up her courage, she and her friends finally took a step forward. Just a few feet away from Carole and they heard some incoherent words which made everything worse. ************ In the continent of Allure, four handsome beasts surrounded a large bed and on that bed was lying a girl who was wearing strange clothes and looked very strange to them. “Who is she?” “Where did you find her?” “Do you think she is dead?” Thousands of questions were running in their minds, but they had answers to none. At the crucial time, they heard a soft groan and immediately looked at the sleeping beauty in front of them. With great difficulty, Carole finally opened her eyes and adjusted to her surroundings. The first thing she saw was a pair of light green eyes looking at her with great curiosity. Startled by the sudden occurrence, she looked away only to notice a handsome face who kept frowning at her. One by one she looked at the four handsome men and swallowed her saliva. Seeing their faces and the way they were looking at her, she felt certain emotions she had never felt before. It also did not help at all that the one who was frowning was actually standing half naked, without a shirt. Carole’s eyes slowly traveled down, and her breath hitched seeing the bulging chest muscles and defined abs. Her throat suddenly dried, but before she could stare down a bit lower, someone’s loud cough interrupted her. She vividly remembered her accident and she knew she was already dead. There was only one logical explanation for four handsome men staring at her, so she decided to confirm her suspicion. “AM I IN HEAVEN?”
