Chapter Two:

2029 Words
(Aspen’s p.o.v) ~Aspen’s dream~ Screams. They were loud and they sounded close. “Michelle and Michael, we are under attack. We don’t know who is attacking us. Please get Aspen into the safety room.” Beta Celia yelled out. With that I was rushed into the closet with no time to say good-bye just in case anything was going to happen. I remember being surrounded by clothes and the smell of my parents. The smell of them always made it feel like I was shield from the world; that I could do anything, and I would not have to worry about a thing. After what felt like an hour, I could hear all the screaming start to fade away. Once they completely stopped, and only then, I came out of the closet leaving the comfort of my parents’ smell. I walked over to the door and opened it. There was no one around the door or on the floor at all. I walked down the hallway when I could start to smell iron. I had a gut feeling that something was wrong, so I ran towards the smell. When I got to the stairs, I gasped. I could see my parents laying on the ground, covered in blood and not moving. “Mommy! Daddy!” I could hear my six-year-old self-scream. The tears started to run down my cheeks. I walked a little bit down the stairs and saw that they were not going to come back to me no matter what would happen. I started to cry harder. “It sounded like it came up here Alpha.” I heard someone say. I quickly got up from where I was standing and was trying to run back up the stairs, but tripped landing in my parents’ blood. “You will make a great slave for our pack.” I heard. ~End Dream~ That was when I bolted awake. I was drenched in sweat, and I could see that it was still dark outside. I looked over at my alarm clock and saw that it was only three in the morning. I let out a sigh. Might as well get up and start prepping breakfast, though I don’t have to do that until six, but I knew that I was not going to be able to go back to sleep. I got up and grabbed my clothes for the day. I walked out of my room and into the bathroom. I took a shower and washed my body getting rid of any smell of sweat. I did the same with my hair. After I was done, I stood under the water and just started to think. My mind started to take a turn and wonder over to Alpha Jack. Why do I find myself so attracted to him? Why does he seem to be so interested in me? I know that I am an Alpha, due to my parents having no other kids, but is there more to why he keeps staring at me? I let out a sigh and shut the water off. I should not have those kinds of thoughts. I got out of the shower and dried myself off. I got dressed and put my hair into a high bun. I let out a sigh as I walked out of the bathroom. I walked to the kitchen, only to see that the light was on already. I was walking very quietly and entered the kitchen. I saw that Alpha Jack was sitting at the island and was reading Romeo and Juliet. “I thought you have read Shakespeare before.” I said with no warning of my presents. He jumped which made him throw the book. I caught it with ease and just lifted an eyebrow at him. He put a hand on his chest and was trying to catch his breath. “I’m sorry Alpha Jack, I didn’t mean to scare you.” I said as I walked over to hand him back his book. “Just call me Jack when no one is around until you seventeenth birthday. It’s feels wrong for you to call me Alpha every time you are in the room with me when it is just us two.” Jack said and he took the book out of my hands. I nodded my head and walked over to the refrigerator. I collected everything that I needed to prep for breakfast. “If you don’t mind me asking, why are you awake at this hour?” he asked me. I let out a sigh as I started to slice the fruit. “I would still be in bed, if it wasn’t for the nightmare. I usually get it around my birthday, but I haven’t gotten them for a few years. This was the first time in five years that I have had the nightmare again.” I spoke. I saw worry flash in Jack’s eyes. “Why are you up at his hour? And don’t tell me you wanted to read this book, because I know Alpha’s don’t have time to read, or at least my Alpha doesn’t.” I asked. “I couldn’t sleep, so I picked up the book after dinner. I wanted to read it when I had the time to, but since I couldn’t sleep, I figured I would get started on it.” Jack said to me. I nodded my head. The one question I thought I would never hear, was asked of me from Jack. “What was your nightmare about?” (Jack’s p.o.v.) She went extremely quiet and looked in deep thought. I wondered if I said anything wrong. I waited until I would get a reply from her, but then I noticed a tear roll down her cheek. I brought my hand up and whipped away the tear. Aspen jumped a little from not expecting it. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to bring on bad memories.” I said to Aspen. She shook her head at me, “It’s okay. The nightmares are brought on by what happened to my old pack, that I was apart of when I was six. Everyone was murdered. I only survived because my parents put me in their closet when Aunt Celia came in to warn them about the pack being attacked. I am the soul survivor of my parents pack.” Aspen said to me. I went into deep thought. I remember getting news of a pack being attacked and slaughtered. They never knew who did it, but they also said that there were no survivors. I pulled my phone out and texted my parents. (J is for Jack's text, F is for his father texts) J: Can you find a picture of the Alpha who ran the Blue Mountain pack? F: What for? There were no survivors. There is no point in bring up old memories that can break your mothers’ heart. J: I am talking to Aspen, who is an omega who claims to have been part of the pack. She named the beta, Celia. After that I did not get a message back. I looked back at Aspen and saw that she was back into her deep thoughts. My phone buzzed again, and I looked at it. It showed two people with jet black hair. The woman had neon green eyes while the man has piercing blue eyes. I tapped Aspen on the shoulder, and she looked at me. “Do they look familiar to you?” I asked Aspen showing her the picture. Her eyes went wide. “How do you have a picture of my parents?” She asked me. My eyes went wide with surprise. “You mean Michelle and Michael were your parents?” she nodded her head yes. “I will text my parents, we knew you and your family. My mom and dad were close to your parents. Even though we are six years apart, we grew up playing with each other. Mom and dad will be happy to hear that you are alive! You must come home with me now. No if and or butts. You are an Alpha; you should not be here in the kitchen working as a slave.” I said to her. Aspen looked at me and smiled, “I am Cinderella to them quite honestly. I don’t mind too much. Keeps me busy. I haven’t even developed my Alpha voice and I won’t be getting that until tomorrow, which will make me seventeen officially.” (Aspen’s p.o.v.) I looked at the time on the wall and realized that it is almost six and the other Omega’s will be getting up and start getting to work. “You may want to go get dressed or try to get some sleep. It is almost six and the other omega’s will be here, and I don’t think you want them staring at you and start spreading rumors about you around the pack.” I said softly. Jack nodded his head and took his leave. Why can I not remember Jack from my childhood? Could it be because I had suppressed my memories of everything before I was six? I only remember from the time I was six until now. Ten years and I never tried to remember anything before my sixth birthday. As I was finishing up with cutting the fruit, I started to try and remember back before my sixth birthday. I finished the fruit and moved on to making all the meat fixings and the waffles they were going to have for breakfast today. While do that all, I was still trying to remember before my sixth birthday, but it seems to be failing me. I just couldn’t remember for the life of me. That was when I heard Alpha Jay walk up to me. “I need you to go into town and grab everything off this list for tomorrow. Also need you to start prepping all the food for tomorrow as well. Don’t worry about having to make anymore food for the rest of the day. Those are to be your task. Make sure to clean up after each dish that you prepare.” Alpha Jay said to me, “You can also have breakfast since I know this will be a long day for you.” I smiled and bowed my head, “Yes, Alpha Jay.” He turned and walked away from me. This was exciting, I get to go outside of the pack house today! Yes, it might be to do some pack stuff, but hey I don’t ever get to leave the pack house as it is. At eight o’clock sharp, everyone came and made their plates. I made mine and sat in the kitchen eating. After I finished, I washed my plate. I ran to my room and grabbed my shoes. I quickly put them on. I then realized that I needed money in order to get everything that I needed to on the list. I let out a sigh and walked my way to Alpha Jay’s office. Once I got there, I knocked on the door and waited for an answer. “Enter.” I heard him say. I walked through the door and bowed my head. “What is it Aspen? I thought I gave you orders to follow.” Jay said to me. “Sir, I need money in order to get the supplies that you are asking for.” I said in return. His eye’s widened, and I knew he forgot to hand me the pack credit card. He reached for his wallet and took out the card. “Here, I am sorry that I forgot to hand it to you. Go ahead and have lunch while you are out since I made that mistake.” I took the card and nodded my head. “Thank you so much Alpha Jay!” I spoke. I walked out of his office and after I knew that the door was closed, I ran to the front of the pack house and out the door to the open world it was for me.
