The Frostmoons

Alpha Charlie Carmichael couldn’t believe his luck. One pack attacked another pack for no reason and now he was being summoned to appear before the council. He was irritated that he was having to do this. It really didn’t involve him at all, and he couldn’t figure out why they would need him.  And why they ordered him to bring, Cody, his youngest son.  “Do you know why they want us here dad?” Cody asked. Charlie glanced over at him wondering if his son had somehow read his mind.  But then he realized that was stupid. He asked that because it was the obvious question to ask. “No.” Charlie said shaking his head. “We didn’t attack anyone and we weren’t attacked. I don't know what they would want except for us to maybe pledge to help keep the peace.” And if that was the case he really wasn’t looking forward to it.  He could feel his son roll his eyes and he chuckled a little. “Something on your mind Cody?”  “Nothing new.” Cody said picking up his phone so he could scroll through it and change the song. “I understand why they need you, you’re an alpha. Them asking for me is really weird.” He leaned back and pulled out his sunglasses  and put them on over his dark green eyes. “Why not Jason? He’s your heir and will need to know what the plan is.” “I have no idea.” Charlie said. “It’s going to be a surprise to us both I guess.” He was just hoping that whatever they wanted wasn’t going to disrupt his life and his pack. Not to mention his family and their lifestyle. The ride wasn’t long, but Cody seemed more interested in playing DJ then talking. Charlie was thankful for that.  He had a lot going on in his head, and he didn’t really want to talk. When they pulled into the grounds they were guards were waiting for them.  Charlie had never  been there before so he didn't know if that was normal or not. He slowed to a stop and rolled down his window. When he was asked for an ID he handed it over.  The guard looked at it and checked his face against his picture. “Thank you sir. We will need your passengers as well.”  “Cody.” Charlie said as he looked over his son. He was surprised to see that Cody was leaned back with his mouth open fast asleep. Charlie rolled his eyes and nudged him. “Wake up! They need your Id.”  “What?” Cody woke up with a start and shook his head. “What do they need?”  “Your ID and hurry.” He didn’t understand why he had to repeat himself. They were werewolves for Goddesses sake. They had super human hearing. Thankfully, Cody got it and didn’t ask anymore stupid questions. He took out his beat up leather wallet and handed over his ID. The guards inspected it and returned it. Once they were on the compound they were greeted by the house manager. She assured them that they would be safe as she led them to their rooms. She gave them an agenda and made sure they didn’t need anything. Once it was clear that they were fine and didn't need anything she left them alone to freshen up.  Charlie looked over the agenda and groaned when he saw that they really meant business. “Looks like they want to see me first. You aren’t on until tomorrow.” “I have my own meeting?” Cody asked as he moved his backpack from one shoulder to the other. “That’s weird isn’t it?” He was the youngest son. He had no power and no real place in the hierarchy. He didn’t know what the council could possibly want with him.  “Not your own.” Charlie answered, looking down at the agenda. “It looks like they want you meet with them and Cecily Swift.” “Cecily Swift?” He shook her head not understanding why that would even b e something they would  arrange. “I don’t even know her. Why would they want to meet with us together?”   “I know as much as you do.” Charlies said as he rolled his eyes. “Maybe I’ll get a hint tonight. If I don’t I guess you’ll find out tomorrow.” Not knowing what they had in mind was a little unsettling, but there was really nothing either of them could do about it.
