The Boys of Stormine

Chloey’s POV The Stormine castle was incredible! It looked both terrifying and comfortable. My sisters and I were unfortunately put in different forts so I was basically navigating by myself. As I turned a corner, I screamed as I felt myself flip upside down. My map flew out of my hand and floated down on the ground. “Help”! I called. “Is anyone here?” “You look like you could use some assistance.” I saw a boy with blonde hair and freckles grinning up at me. “Please!” “The younger kids like to leave traps and be a nuisance to everyone else.” He informed me. “I see.” “Verso!” I fell from the ceiling, right into the boy’s arms. I stared at him in awe. He was the cutest boy I had ever laid eyes on. His blue eyes burned into mine as a goofy smile came across his face. “I’m Rune…Rune Crimson.” “Like Crimson’s Charming Chocolates?” He nodded. “I’m Chloey Rosaria.” “Like Molly Rosaria’s daughter?” I nodded, happy he didn’t mention my father or brother. “Nice to meet you.” He set me down on the floor. “You’re new here?” “Yes, and I feel as though I’m running around with my head off! I have to find my dorm and then Director Magnus has some special club-” “My sister is in that. Let me help you.” Rune offered. “Um, yeah okay, thanks.” Rune showed me all the shortcuts through the Fortress and where my room was. We were in the same dorm. There was something wonderful about him. He was charming and sweet and I think he might be flirting with me? I had never flirted with a boy, so I was completely lost in all this, but one thing I did know was that I liked him a lot. Rune also filled me in on the students at the school. He was best friends with Tate Highmore of all people, I should stay away from Marsden Thorton and I would probably get along well with his friend, Simone Ash, who was dating a famous Kilcross player, Paxton Razier. I had my own personal guide to this school. As we headed to Director Magnus’ meeting, I felt my foot slip on the stairs and I fully thought I would tumble right down. Only, I didn’t. Someone that wasn’t Rune had caught me. When I opened my eyes I was face to face with a handsome guy. He had intense light brown eyes, high cheekbones and a kind of arrogant aura. “Where have you been all my life?” He asked. “Excuse me?” I giggled nervously. “Sorry, you’re just quite possibly the most beautiful woman I’ve laid eyes on.” “Oh um…thank you? For um saving me.” “Well, it seemed Rune wasn’t going to do it, so I had to step in.” “I’m sorry, Chloey, I couldn’t react fast enough.” Rune looked embarrassed and frustrated with this other guy. “I’m Cade Pickerin by the way. Of Pickerin’s Trading Company. You know, we kind of keep the Witching Domain running.” “I’m aware.” I forced a smile. I already didn’t like this guy. He was much too forward and seemed pretty conceited. “Well, we should head to Director Magnus’ meeting. You can meet my sister, Chloey.” Rune offered. “Oh I'll walk with you guys,” Cade grinned. “I’m fascinated to get to know Chloey better.” He looked me up and down seductively, which kind of made me squirm. Funny how in the same day I’ve found the best guy I’ve ever met and the most annoying guy to grace the Witching Domain. Joey’s POV I was kind of glad that my sisters and I were in different dorms. I loved them to death, but we were like attached at the hips. Time for the umbilical cord to be cut for real. The boys of Stormine were so kind and helpful. They offered to carry my bags and show me around the school. I felt like I was royalty or something. “Um, a little to the left,” I commanded the boys who were hanging up my swirling artwork. They waved their hands and the painting shifted. “Sorry, not that much to the left.” I heard a whistle from the doorway. “Wow, what kind of curse do you have these guys under?” Standing there was the best looking guy I'd ever seen. He had gorgeous jet black hair that fell over captivating grey eyes. He had a strong jaw, high cheekbones and perfect lips. I was hypnotized. “No curse…I can be…persuasive.” I grinned. “Boys, could you give us some privacy?” The three boys shuffled out of the room, casting glares in the guy’s direction. “You new here?” He questioned. "Who wants to know?" He scoffed. "You don't know who I am?” "Um, no, should I?" He shook his head in mock disappointment. "Yes, of course you should, but since you're so damn gorgeous, I'll let that slip. I'm Marsden Thorton " "That's nice," I said. " Should I know who you are?" Okay I totally knew who Marsden Thorton was. Him and his family had only been splattered all over The Echo Post the last year. His dad, my dad, my brother and some other Vampiric Warlocks went on a little killing spree that ended with Wade Highmore's death. My dad and brother got away while Regan Thorton took the fall. “Our fathers sure know each other.” Marsden pointed out. “What can I do for you, Marsden Thorton?” “I just heard that the hottest girl to ever grace Stormine was in this room and I had to see if the rumors were true…looks like they are.” “You are shameless,” I laughed. “I think I like it.” “You do. But what are we going to do about that is the question?” “Nothing right now. I have a very important meeting to attend with the Director.” “Skip it. Hang out with me instead.” Marsden smiled devilishly. “I promise you’ll have more fun with me.” “As much as I’d love that, I can’t. My sisters are kind of counting on me. I can’t ditch them for a boy on the first day.” I explained. “I’m free…afterwards.” “Well, I’m not,” He stated. “Maybe another time.” “You’re not serious.” “As serious as the deaths both of our fathers have caused. See you around, Joey.” “Um, I didn’t tell you my name.” I pointed out. Marsden chuckled. “You didn’t have to.” He slipped out of the doorway and was gone. I could tell what kind of guy Marsden was. He wanted to be chased. Good thing I had always been a pretty fast runner. Zoey’s POV The map of Stormine was both straight forward and completely confusing. I think the floating hall signs actually made things a little harder to follow. Still, I believed I was close to my room. Oh this looked like a shortcut! Might as well take it. I stepped through the wall and was startled when I bumped into someone and fell on top of them.. I was such a klutz. I looked down at the guy under me. His hazel eyes were wide with shock and confusion. His messy brown hair was strewn across his forehead, which might have been my doing. “I am so sorry.” I scrambled off of him. “I was trying to use a shortcut and it went terribly wrong.” “No problem, it happens all the time,” He assured me as he stood up. He continued to stare at me in confusion. “What’s wrong?” I asked. “This is going to sound crazy, but I could have sworn I saw you earlier. But wearing two different outfits. One time it was jeans and the other time it was a really short skirt that was leaving nothing up to the imagination.” I laughed. “I’m a triplet. You saw my sisters.” “That makes a lot more sense. Um, I’m Tate Highmore by the way.” Holy crap. Tate Highmore was the son of Wade Highmore. Before his death he had taken down more Vampiric Warlocks than anyone had to this day. His death set the new war into motion. Everyone swears Tate will follow in his footsteps and save The Witching Domain. “I’m sorry about your dad!” I blurted out. “That was stupid to say! It’s just my dad well-my name is Zoey Rosaria, you may run in disgust now.” “Oh so your dad is...it’s fine, Zoey. Welcome to Stormine.” “Thank you,” I smiled. “Can I help with your bags?” Tate questioned. “Why not?” We finally reached my room. Tate helped me unpack and we talked the entire time. I found out he was also in Director Magnus’ special club. He said it was mostly little dinners and fun activities. I could definitely find some fun in that. As I was putting my shoes away, my foot tripped over exactly nothing and fell into the closet. “Are you okay?” Tate asked in alarm. “I could use some help.” I admitted. I saw his hand reach out. I took it, but as he pulled me up, I hit my head on a shelf and fell back to the floor, taking Tate with me. “Well, hello again,” He breathed. “We sure do get into a lot of horizontal positions,” I smiled. “I’d like to get into more,” I was shocked by how forward he was. But also totally fine with it. Tate was one of the most important people in the Witching Domain and he was interested in me. “I think I would too.” I could have sworn I saw him lean down to kiss me, but he stopped and cleared his throat. “We’re going to be late for the meeting.” “We should get going then, I think.” I laughed anxiously. No way had I almost kissed a guy my first day here. This was Joey behavior. We laughed all the way to the meeting. As we reached the door a blonde girl ran over to us. “There you are, Tate! Who’s this?” She studied me. “I’m Zoey Rosaria. Me and my sisters are new. Tate was helping me move in.” “Oh, I’m Raina Crimson, Tate’s girlfriend.” What? He spent the last hour flirting with me and he had a girlfriend. “Um, we should head in there,” Tate said quickly, ducking into the room. As I made my way to the door, Raina stopped me. “Look, I don’t know what your deal is, but stay away from my boyfriend or you’ll live to regret it.” She turned on her heel and stomped into the room. This was going to be an interesting year.
