Chapter 1
England May 3, 2022. [Alarm ringing] Perseus stretched forth his left hand and reached for the alarm that was ringing so loud to disturb his wonderful morning sleep. "Come on, am awake now!" He groaned. He has been up all through the night, working on his project and how he was to deliver the presentation which happens to be today at sharp eight o'clock and he dare not miss it for anything in the world. This very project will be a huge bonus to him personally and to his career too, if he should succeed in winning the vote over five contenders. He arose from bed as soon as he stopped the alarm, stretched his body and walked boldly towards the window in full assurance and highly confident that the day was going to be a good one and that he was beyond doubt going to be the winner because he had found favor in the sight of the seating boss and a good number of business associates as well. Everybody liked him at stalk mechanics, a huge company ranked first class in all of Englands and he was one hyper-intelligent Architect and Engineer who specializes in skillful drawing and high-tech computing of new cars that were to be invented and also a very great ideologist in robotics and company management planning. "Why is it so bright?" He asked himself as he drew the curtain wide open. That very moment, it occurred to him that he might be running late, so he quickly turned his neck to look at his wall clock and was astonished to see that it was seven thirty already. "Christ! This isn't happening, s**t s**t!" He exclaimed and immediately made a sprint and dashed into the bathroom. In no distant time, he was out of the bathroom and hurriedly grab a blue suit from his wardrobe, dressed up in five minutes, packed up his files and laptop in a black bag he carried and ran down the stairs leaving his cellphone on the table which was at the living room. He slammed the door on his way out much faster than usual and pressed the remote he held on his right hand to issue a command on his car door to open. As the DBS Superleggera door opened, he threw his bag inside as quick as possible and curved himself inside the driver's seat, forgetting to put his seatbelts on. He drove as it he was being chased by a band of armed men on high speed through the highways built along the hills. As he held on to the steering wheel, flying at 150mph, he started to touch his pockets for his cellphone and searched his bag with his right hand to see if he could find it in there. He almost collided with an incoming car but dodged it to the right quickly by turning his steering leftwards and then he focused again, having his eyes on the road. "s**t, s**t my cellphone. I hope I don't get penalized for arriving so late? f**k me!" He clamored and took a deep breath, then he increased his car's speed reaching 200mph and on this high speed, he noticed his seatbelts weren't on. And at this point he needed to ensure he held that steering properly because he was almost approaching the curvy part of the narrow highway; but he was busy controlling it with his right hand while trying to pull the seatbelt out with the left. And when he tried to clinch it, it proved difficult so that he left the steering and used both hands. The minute he was done, he looked up to place his hands again on the steering when all of a sudden, his car tires drifted to the left and as he quickly turned it rightwards, it lossed balance on the right side and tumbled down the hill, leaving the runway. As his car went down, all Perseus could think of at that very moment was his little sister who was in school. "Oh my gosh, Jesus! I can't leave Diana like this, o my..." He screamed in his mind without opening his mouth to speak because everything ended in about thirty seconds. The road was quiet for the next two minutes before a car approached the spot and held it's break. A man and a woman — obviously couples — ran down to see if they could rescue anyone alive from a car that was already smoking. When they got to Perseus, they found him looking like something twisted in the front seat and tried pulling him out through an already shattered window glass. "Come on honey, grab his left arm" the lady said. "Am already doing it damnit, he seems to be broken on this side" the man's husky voice echoed. "O my God, he's bleeding on this side!" She exclaimed in fear. "That's okay, sweetheart. Let pull him out on three. Are you ready?" He said while taking in a deep breathe. "Of course I am!" "Okay, one two three, pull!" He screamed. And immediately they were able to pull him out of the car by dragging his shoulders. They carried him further apart from where his car smoked and gave him a CPR. "What's his status like?" The lady asked whimpering "Ah, I can feel his pulse on the neck region, heart beating slowing, this guy needs medic immediately." He croaked "I'll make a call" she added, dialing the number... "911 what's your emergency?" A voice responded. Her husband tried to band the arm that was bleeding with a piece of cloth, barely hearing his wife's conversation on the phone. In a space of three to five minutes, an ambulance arrived the scene and took over the incident. The two couples watched them place him in the ambulance while they answered a few questions... "No cellphone, he has no cellphone. We only found this bag in the passengers seat and this diary right here" the man who gave him CPR reported as he handed over the bag and a little diary to a man who appeared to be a doctor. ...
