The Assistant

ALEXANDER         Today was going to be a very busy Wednesday. I had an interview appointment at 8 that I didn't need to be late for, I mean I am the boss.  I exited my car, slightly in a hurry to my private entrance at the back of the building. I was looking at my phone that kept ringing, like it always did in the morning before work. I went to answer when I ran into something, more like someone.  As she turned around are eyes met. She had blue eyes. Not the piercing kind, but the deep kind, the kind that draws your attention. She had brown hair that went to her mid back and she was wearing this gorgeous red dress that went to her mid calf and fit all over her curves perfectly, topped with a black blazer and black heels.  I couldn't help but grin at her when I spoke, "Are you ok?"   She began to stutter, it was cute. "I guess you hit your head?" I spoke again this time I chuckled.  "Oh no, no I am fine, thank you. I am sorry I bumped into you. I was just in AW of this building. It so..big" as her eyes diverted to my arms and then back to my eyes. "I'm Sierra."  Sierra I thought as I gazed into her eyes. "You can call me Xander," as I gave her a full smile.  She is beautiful. Like different beautiful. She wasn't "throwing" herself at me like most women do. She respected me.      About that time, my phone rang again and I gestured to her that I needed to take this call and I stepped aside.  Once I was finished and I turned back around, she was gone. Sierra I huffed as I thought to myself. I couldn't help but to smile.  I headed toward my private entrance and got into the elevator. 110 floors is a lot so I had time to think about what I needed to get done that day, as well as some other things, like those blue eyes. I shake my head trying to get the thought out of my head right then, I can't get distracted. Not today, of all the days.      I walked through the doors as they opened. Heading straight for my office. Diana met me with the daily schedule and gave me a run down of what to expect for today. Like I said, busy, busy day ahead of me and I needed to get the day going.          Once in my office, I started up my computer and got some emails rolling before the 8am interview. I looked over her file.  "Miss Wright," I said aloud, I really need to get Diana to put first names on these profiles. It's more personal I think, but she says it's more professional this way. Whatever is easiest I guess.   About that time Diana paged in, "Miss Wright is here for the interview,"  "let her in," I said. I sat down and turned around, looking out the window, preparing myself with questions that I will ask Miss. Wright. I heard the door open and close and clearing of her throat.  I turned around and caught her eyes, those blue eyes, it was her, it was Sierra.      "Miss. Wright," I said with a grin, "it's nice to see you again." She stuttered again, and I can't get over how cute it was.  "Xand-Mr.Williams, I am so sorry. It's nice to meet you, officially." she said while trying to keep eye contact with me. "I want to apologize again for bumping into you, I should have paid more attention to my surroundings." she said apologetically . "Right, well I appreciate the apology, its very humble of you" I said while trying to focus on the job at hand. "Lets begin shall we?" I said as I pulled out her file.      For the next 30 mins I sat and listened as she answered all of my questions with ease, and poise. She was elegant and professional in all of her ways of speaking. Like someone who had the job for years.  As the interview was coming to the end, I asked her the final question, "When can you start?"  "Does that mean I got the job?" She said as she gave me the biggest smile I had ever received for anything.  I chuckled and nodded my head and she gave me a squeal and then composed herself.  "I'm sorry, so sorry, I umm, I can start today if you would like?" She said with very hopeful eyes.  I looked at her with a deep longing in my eyes, and pressed the button on my com, "Diana, please show Miss. Wright to her new desk, Thank you."  As the com beeped I continued to Miss.Wright,  " Diana will show you to your new space, and what you will be responsible for. You will receive a work computer and it will have all of the employees in the building email ready for you. Please don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it. I will email over to you your daily instructions once you get set up. Sound good?" I asked her with a slight grin. "Of course, thank you for this opportunity." As she stood and shook my hand and then exited my office.  What did I just do? Why did I hire her? She may have met all of the job requirements and was more than qualified, but she is going to make working here very difficult, and she doesn't even realize it.
