Okay, I'm okay

For the remainder of the week I explored the city, and ate a few new things that I wouldn't normally eat. Mami and I went on our very own excursion, driving around the coast, enjoying the Cape culture. Papi joined us the weekend and we went on the red bus, table mountain and the beach. I was sad when Sunday evening peeked at me.'Here's to being the new girl at school in a different country.' My first day at the new school couldn't have come sooner. Staring at my reflection in the mirror, dreading the long day that's ahead. I decide to put my clothes out on my bed before hitting the shower. 'White short sleeve golfer, black skirt paired to black sneakers.' "Yeah, that'll do." i wasn't exactly petite, seeing that I was partly Mexican and partly coloured American. My body consists of a perfectly C-cupped bra size, a size 32 bubble butt, and thanks to three years of consistent soccer practice and playing, an itty-bitty waist. With my healthy lifestyle, I had clear caramel skin, golden brown curls and amber eyes to top it off. I had an eye condition though. No doubt they were beautiful little golden orbs, they couldn't go long in the sun without swelling from the pain. Last time I saw the doctor, they recommended I wear uv-protective glasses. Papi got me contacts as well, but they are hella expensive, that's probably part of the reason we moved. Papi always feels obligated to give his family the very best, especially his princesa, he believes that when I start dating I won't be easily charmed by a boy's flashy chains. He said that by then, I would be used to all the spoils guys can think of. I took the glasses for school, because I don't like making eye contact. It also makes me feel somewhat invisible. Luckily I could choose my own frame, so they at least look fashionable...back to getting ready. I went to the shower and finished my business, showering and cleaning my mouth. Standing in front of the mirror, I decide to tie my hair up in a messy bun leaving two strands out to hang on either side of my face, clipping my signature two daisy pins on my bun. After dressing, I start packing my book bag and head downstairs. "Munchkin! Are you ready for your big day?" "Good Morning mami, it's way too early for this much excitement." I whine as her face doesn't falter from the major grin plastered on it like a bumper sticker. Papi smiles as he walks over to where I sat down to give me a good luck kiss before heading out, "You'll be great mi amor, goodluck my gem." He kisses mami and heads out to work. I start munching on these delicious pancakes mami prepared, with syrup and berries. "Mami I gotta go, thanks for the breakfast. Te amo." "Te amo munchkin, enjoy your day!" Her voice follows as I leave the house with my headphones on, ready to start the day. "You drink it just like water(water), you say it tastes like candy! So what's you doin' tonight? Better say doin' you right." I sing along to my girl Ari as I make the turn, walking towards the school. "Sweet vocals, new girl." I clearly hear this as my headphones are abruptly removed from my ears by, 'cute guy Brad?!'. "Oh hey, was I loud?!" Embarrassed at how I must've sounded. "No, not that much. It's just the people passing by aren't used to princesses singing on the streets any more." "I'm sorry, I got carried away, how bad was I." "My god new girl, chill...and for the record, you were pretty awesome. I could listen to you the whole day." I think he saw my uncomfortably pink cheeks and changed the subject. "So, you're a junior?" "Uhm, no. I'm actually a transfer doing my senior year here at Rocklands." "Sweet! Now I don't need to duck or dive, when people notice me talking to the new girl." "And...Why would that be?" "Because, I'm one of the few cool kids at school. 'The hot jock!' as they call me" Adjusting my glasses before looking at him, we both burst out in a short laughing fit. 'I won't lie, you do look cute when you laugh. Definite bad boy.' "Don't flatter yourself like that, you might just get hurt." "Damn new girl, you..." "Yo Brad!" A sleek haired stud interrupts our little chat. "Uhm, that's my bud Aaron. He's hot, I know..." "Are you serious right now?" And with that we start laughing again. "So we're, not 'hot'?" "I don't know, do you feel okay?" Smiling while searching my eyes to indicate that I'm kidding, lucky for me, I was very sarcastic and good at acting. "Well uhh, okay then new girl. Be like that for now, soon I'll change your mind. Also, I'll catch you later. I'll put in a good word at the placing office for you, seeing that there's only two senior classes and my aunt is the placing officer." I'm probably blushing right now, because he grinned and winked at me while walking off to his friend. "See you around new girl." I manage a hesitant wave, breathing out a "You're so bad news." to myself. After meeting the nice principal, he sends me to the placing officer, who barely acknowledges me. "So you're the new girl? My nephew already asked me to do him a favor, that's a record. I just hope you're not another dumb bimbo, anyway. Enjoy your class." After that weird encounter, I leave her office and follow the door numbers to find my first class. 'Ha, found it. Breathe Ruby, you're okay.' "I'm okay." Calming myself before I opened the door couldn't have prepared me for what I was about to see. "Ruby?!"
