First day

"Ruby?!" As I look up, I lock eyes with my long lost blue eyed friend, but our encounter gets interrupted by the class teacher. "Ahem! I presume you're the new student joining the class? Please leave the meet and greets for when you have lunch. Welcome to Rocklands International, I suggest that you take a seat so we can jump right in. I'm your English literary teacher, Miss Reed, it's nice to meet you miss...Ruby?" Looking towards Mya for approval, she shoo's me to go take a seat and I find an empty seat one row from the back, in the second row from the windows on the left-hand side. "New girl Ruby." A cracky whisper comes from behind me, and I turn my head slightly and see a goofy a** Brad giving me a 'girly wave' while smirking. Shaking my head I smile and turn towards the teacher's lesson. Mya wastes no time to scribble something on a piece of paper and when Ms Reed doesn't look, she passes it on to where I'm seated. "I can't believe this is actually happening, I'm still mad at you for losing contact. Wait for me after the bell goes." For some reason I got really nervous after reading this sticky note, my bff might just slap me in public, she was always the feisty one. After a few minutes, the bell goes and I start packing up as quickly as possible. "Heyy new girl, want me to walk you to the next class?" "It's Ruby, and rein check? I gotta talk to Mya first." "Okay, no biggy. I can tell when I'm being replaced, and even though it hurts, I guess I'll just have to fight for my spot back." Giving me his best Colgate smile, Brad leaves after shooting me a wink. "It's not a competition!" Mouthing a 'whatever', he leaves for our next class. "Mya! Uhm, let me just start by saying, me losing contact wasn't entirely my fault. Say about a year after you moved, my phone fell in our pool, and of course, I lost all my data stored on the damn thing. I'm really really sorry mi amiga. You have no idea how much I_" "Yeah yeah, save your lame excuse for the circus. I was a wreck! I knew no one and my best friend just went M.I.A, do you know what that felt like?! Lemme tell you, it was hell!! You're crazy if you think I'm letting you get out of my sight again, you little t**t! And yes, I'm still mad at you. Even when having you here just made my whole senior year before it even started. Come here girl!!" She gave me a rib crushing hug, and we both teared up. "I'm never leaving your side again Mya, well, unless we go to different classes and also apply to different colleges." "I'll make sure that sh*t doesn't happen. I missed you so much my Amiga!" Crushing me in a bear hug once again, we made up before our next class started. - Lunchtime came and we moved towards this fancy cafeteria, "Wow! You eat lunch here everyday?!" "Keep it down you little weirdo, just act normal please." Almost begging me to shvt up and get it together, I nodded and she laughed. "Oh how I missed your weird little antics. Now, I have a few friends that I hang out with during school and sometimes on weekends, coz my dad forced me to be more social. You would think he'd be happy to have me at home every weekend, but noo!! Anyway, they're alright and I actually grew to like their rather 'mature' company. Oh, and Rubz, You can have whatever you want here plus a juice and the desert treats. The snacks vary from day to day, welcome to the most definitely expensive Rockland International!" 'Well wasn't that an introduction.' "They have sushi?!!" I shriek out of utter shock. "Goddammit, act normal." Mya hissed at me while smiling at the other students passing by. After filling our lunch plates, we head to this singled out table. "You sit with the popular kids? Since when have you started liking the populars??" "Ruby, you gotta relax. Besides, here we don't have popular and unpopular people, because everyone that's here can obviously afford to be here." Approaching the table I see sleek black haired Aaron, two girls, a red haired one sitting so close to Aaron that she's practically on his lap. The other girl is a dirty blonde, and even though we wore uniforms, she somehow looked like the typical Barbie girl. "Hey is that Brad?" "Yeahh it is, btw hands off_Hii guys!! How's everyone doing?" Mya walks in front of me to take the seat next to Brad. 'Oh, you like him.' I shoot her a knowing smile, and almost as if embarrassed for her actions, she looks toward her food. "Yo, new girl Rubz. You gon' sit or what?" "Uhh, yeah." I take the open seat next to Mya. "So this is my friend Ruby, she transferred from New Jersey, like myself_" "So, soon the whole New Jersey will migrate here?" What an absolute d**k this guy is, but before I could say anything Brad chimes in. "Aaron, this school doesn't belong to you. Stop being a d**k, it's her first day." Aaron just gave Brad a hard stare and went back to looking at me. "As you can see new girl, here's still enough room for you." After flipping a finger at Brad the red head scanned me, "I'm Bree, this here is Emily. Babe, boys restroom. Now! - Anytime, my little devil." 'Very mature, yes.' For a ridiculously expensive school, you would think the student would be less trashy.I couldn't care what they thought of me, and happily dug into the delicious looking sushi. "Em, where's Melakai? - Oh, he had a football meeting." 'There's still another one of them?' "Who's Melakai? - Emily's 'Ken'." Looking over to Emily, I exchange a light smile and she grins back at me saying, "B**ch that's my pinga, and you better not make googly eyes new girl." We laugh a little, and I assure her that no one will make googly eyes at her 'pinga'. - After lunch we headed to our next classes, we ended the day with Spanish class. "Hey, you want me to show you some hangout spots? - Brad, hey. Uhhh, not today, but we can definitely do it later in the week. - Okay, new friend Ruby, catch you later!" And as the bell rang, he beelined out of the class. I just smiled at this nice-guy who's a weirdo and I realized why Mya likes him.
