Chapter Three
Eldy staggered into the hospital room with his baggy cotton twill trousers and a flannel shirt. He looked out of place in the sterile atmosphere.
“Erika, the police have Jon in custody! He went out to your place to meet the Colonel. When he got there, he found the Colonel lyin' dead in your house and covered in blood! Now they are questionin' him about it! It seems the Colonel called him and was goin' to take a look around out there, and Jon was to meet him! I got a call from Jon's lawyer sayin' he's in the pokie! Erika, we got to do something to help him!” Eldy pleaded with Erika.
“Oh no! I received a call from Chief Towson, but he would not tell me anything! As soon as I get the X-ray, the doctor will be in and should release me! Maybe I should just go ahead and leave!”
