#1 - Dead

390 Words
"I, Maxith Ordovic, hereby reject you Irabel Belmont as my mate and future luna of my pack." As the words left her mate's mouth, Irabel felt like she was already dead. She had thought nothing could top the anguish that she already felt at the sight of her dead parents, but her mate's rejection was the final blow to her already shattered heart. It was the icing on the cake. The cake of betrayal that had been baked with the blood of her beloved family. The king and queen of Belmont lay in a pool of blood that her once pure white gown was slowly sucking up. Her mate didn't even wait for her to accept his rejection before he crashed his lips on her best friend and maid of honour. Rayna's smile right after made the pain of betrayal intensify a million fold. The two most important people in Irabel's life that should have watched her back, betrayed her in the worst possible way. It was like a two edged knife to her heart that kept being twisted over and over again. Today was supposed to be her wedding day, her mating ceremony. She and her mate, her other beautiful half, were supposed to honour their bond, to bind their souls and pledge their hearts to a beautiful forever. As princess of the Belmont castle, her pack was to celebrate a powerful alliance with the Ordovics once they mated. But she should have known that the mate bond was overrated. A happily ever after was overrated. And that her dream of a perfect mate and a perfect future would be her undoing. "This was never meant to be." A sharp blade pierced her once flawless skin as her mate's voice whispered into her ear. "You and I were never meant to be." She felt a fresh tear roll down the side of her face as her life flashed before her eyes. She laughed at the irony of it all. She had vowed to give whatever her mate wanted from her, even her own life. And as she took her last breath, satisfaction was written all over her mate's face, but it didn't bring her the happiness she always imagined it would, no. Her heart had shattered into a million pieces and his satisfaction filled her with nothing but anguish.
