The mate

1320 Words
I could feel all the eyes in the room rest on me, but I could only look at one. The most beautiful girl I had ever seen in my life was standing right before me. She stood on the other side of Hannah’s hospital bed as she looked back at me. Long brown and wavy hair which almost reached up to her middle, framing her face and flowing across her body like a waterfall. She had the most magical green eyes I had ever seen, which were put in her perfectly shaped face. I just wanted to run over to her, and put my hands around that face so I could look into those magical green eyes as close as I possibly could. But, I was frozen in my place and couldn’t do anything. My Alpha was the first one to speak out of all the people in the room. “Did you know?” Know? What is there to know? I know absolutely nothing. I just want to look at this girl forever. Another voice sounded throughout the room. “I knew he was in the building. I had no idea who he was, or what he looked like. I think we need to go outside and talk, give your mate some time to rest and meet her pup.” I still wasn’t able to look away from this girl in front of me, but I could tell the one who was speaking now, was not someone I knew, since I never had heard her voice before. That would make her one of those witches. The girl in front of me, however, was definitely not a witch. I mean, how could she be? She was too gorgeous to be one. Maybe she is a long lost princess who got kidnapped by the witch? Like a modern Rapunzel? That would totally make more sense to me. Maybe she was a nurse who worked in this hospital? But that wouldn’t make any sense, since I had never seen her before. If she worked here, would I have crossed paths with her in some way? My wolf Teagan was all excited in my head, making me connect the dots. This girl is my mate. I finally found her! She’s the one! “You need to rest now, pleasure doing business with your pack. We will see each other again in the future, I am sure.” The unfamiliar voice stated again, as I spotted movement on my right. But I still couldn’t get my eyes off of the girl with the green eyes. *Noah! Say something to her* My Luna, Hannah, linked to me. Trying to help me in this more than awkward situation. It caught me off guard, so I blinked my eyes a couple of times as I shook my breath and tried to figure out something to say. What the hell is the first thing you say to your mate, the woman who you’re supposed to spend the rest of your life with? “Hi.” Was all I could bring out. Great, now she’ll think you’re a dumbass! I could kick myself in the head as I could feel my cheeks getting red. My wolf was huffing and puffing in my head at my stupid action. ~Claim and mark her!~ Was all he was bringing out, so that wasn’t helping me at all. Suddenly, I felt a massive fist against my shoulder. I looked to my side and saw Sam had just punched me, hard! He looked at me with big eyes. “Go with her, you fool!” he whispered to me. I looked back at the place where the beautiful girl had just been standing, to see that she was gone. I looked around in panic and saw that she was walking out the room, following my Alpha Jensen. I nodded at Sam without thinking and turned around, following her to the hallway. I closed the door of my Luna Hannah’s room behind me, as I looked at the scene in front of me. My Alpha Jensen was leaning against the wall as he sighed hard. In front of him stood an older woman. It was clear to see, she was in charge of this whole operation. And then, there she was again, standing next to the woman in charge. She was still looking at me with her piercing green eyes. I didn’t know what to do, so I just smiled at her. She immediately smiled back at me, showing me her perfect white teeth. If her teeth could shimmer and shine, like they do sometimes in toothpaste commercials, she would totally have that. God, she is totally perfect! I sighed, as I couldn’t take my eyes away from her. But my Alpha started talking, so it was my duty as a wolf and my job as the Gamma, to always put the pack first, no matter what. I tried to shift my gaze a little to the right, so I was making sure I was looking at my Alpha, but still being able to spot this girl. So I would know she wouldn’t walk away without me knowing about it. “What will happen now?” My Alpha spoke as he looked at the woman in front of him. “Well, he will have to come to our coven. With witches, the mating ceremony is a bit different than yours and it gives him the chance to get to know his mate and our community properly. After that, they can come to you, so Emily can finish her trail and become a werewolf. Once they do that, the choice of where they should live is really theirs to make. But my daughter will always keep her link to her coven.” I shifted my gaze to this woman who was speaking. Emily? She spoke about Emily? Is that my mate’s name? My Alpha looked at me as I saw guilt in his eyes. Why does he look at me like that? I found my mate. Life is great! “Noah?” The woman spoke to me now. I looked away from my Alpha to where the voice was coming from. “Noah, I am Dalia. Nice to meet you, I believe you are my daughter’s mate?” If it was possible, right then and there, my eyes would have popped out of my head. I was not expecting this. Shit, that’s my mother-in-law? I shifted my gaze between Jensen and Dalia. Not sure how I should react to all of this. The most magical sound I had ever heard came through the hallway at that point. I looked to my left and saw the gorgeous girl giggling as she looked at me. Oh, s**t! I’m looking like a fool again. But Goddess, how I loved to hear that sound! I would gladly act silly all day if that would make her smile and be happy. I cleared my throat as I reached out my hand to this Dalia woman. “Hi, nice to meet you.” I shook her hand as I nodded at her. She smiled at me and seemed genuinely happy to meet me. Thank Goddess for that, the last thing I needed was a mother-in-law from hell. Jensen looked at me as he was trying to read my face. “Maybe it’s a good idea to take Emily to the party tonight?” He asked me. I nodded at my Alpha, only, I had no idea what party he was talking about. Emily smiled at me as she walked past me, towards her mother. “I’ll be ready at 8. We are staying at the old condo of the chief warrior.” She sang to me. Really, her voice sounds even better than her giggle. It almost sounded angelic. I smiled as I nodded at her. “ OK, 8 it is.”
