We made it?

Ji'lahni: POV "So, what's taking this dude so long to come over here? I know damn well he sees us. I'm ready to get outta this car, take a hot shower and take a nap before this party starts." I said loud enough, hoping the tall bodybuilder security guard hears me. "Oh my God, but do you see him? Yall know, he's sexy as hell. I bet he gotta girlfriend." Shawna said from the backseat, leaning on the window, almost licking the window. Trying to catch his eye. "You can have that I don't like light-skin dudes, and he looks scary as hell. He looks like he will hurt you in and out of the bedroom." Mina said, shaking her head and shuddering at the image that obviously popped into her head. "How about let's get inside the gate before you start eye f*****g the guard. You know what scratch that, definitely eye f**k him hard until he sees you so we can get in already, I'm about to blow the damn horn." I said getting pissed off. We have been sitting here a good fifteen minutes, well more like five, but again my body is telling me fifteen minutes. "Well let's trade seats before you blow this horn, because I may be a big girl, but he looks big enough to snap our necks at the same time." Mina said, ready to defend that steering wheel from me. I laughed out loud. "What are you talking about? I think we could take him." I teased. Mina was looking at me like I done lost my mind. " ssshhhiiitttt take what? A nap because we damn sure can't take that big ass dude. Do you see his arms? They’re damn near the size of our thighs. Nope, this will be the one time you're on your own cuz I can't even help you with that one." Mina said, shaking her head, still protecting the steering wheel from me. I pretended to reach for the horn and Mina blocked me like we're in a karate movie making Bruce Lee sound effects. "Hey, that looks like momma Teri. "Shawna yelled excitedly as she hopped out the car and we were left staring at her in shock, waiting for the big ass dude to tackle her ass to the ground. It's like we were looking at it in slow motion. Hearing him shout when she ran past him, snapping us out of our stupor, Mina hopped out and I was grabbing for Lynn's bag out the backseat because I knew damn well, we couldn't beat that dude's ass if he attacked. But Shawna seemed unafraid when he grabbed her from behind and easily lifted her away before she reached Lateri. Shawna squeals in delight, clearly not recognizing that she is about to die. "Oh my God you're strong. If you wanted to carry me across the gate you could have asked. How about you carry me all the way to our rooms if you want? I'm just saying we have been riding for hours and my legs are kind of weak." Shawna said to the big killing beast, smiling seductively. " He recognized the gesture and immediately dropped her on her feet and backed away eyes wide and hands in the air like he was afraid for his life not the other way around. "Oh, I get it, you don't do pretty big girls huh? Oh well, your loss." Shawna said with no malice at all. We all know that we're not every man's jug of tea and we're OK with that. That helps us weed out the worthless motha fuckas, that those pretty slim girls seem to attract the ones, that lie, cheat, have females calling, and fighting each other. We have never in our life fought nobody for a man. That makes absolutely no sense to us. Let that man choose you and if he doesn't, then fuckem. Shawna and Lateri immediately hugged and Lateri looked us over like a mother would her children she hadn't seen in a long time. She was hugging us one by one repeatedly, until the big killer beast cleared his throat. We all snapped our heads his way, he immediately took a step back, and stared wide-eyed at Shawna again, and began to stutter, barely getting out that we needed to move our car to clear the gate. Lateri went over to him and poked him in the chest . "Don't you dare put your hands on my girls like that again. If you do, I will have my son on your ass so fast your head will hit the ground before your body does." Lateri yelled. "Yes Luna, I apologize, it won't ever happen again." He barely said, above a whisper, with his head bowed to Lateri, which was odd I mean I know she's the bosses mother, but he seems like he's truly afraid of the little old lady. "Hey, don't say that I rather liked you sweeping me off my feet made me feel all tingly." Shawna smiled at the big beast. He no longer looked like a killer, but he was still a beast. His name patch said Shadow, which he looked nothing like. He was literally no way near dark. Mina pulled the car in and Lateri got in the front so she could tell us where we would be staying for the next three weeks. " I'm so glad yall agreed to come here. I have missed yall something crazy. I can't wait to show yall around so yall can meet my people and see where I live. I know yall will love it here. As we drove through the large community, it shocked me how big it actually was because we couldn't see anything from the main gate. But there were rows of houses that were really big country-styled houses made with a cabin feel to it from the outside. There were so many dogs that looked scary, yet they were clearly well behaved. None of them ran beside the car like most dogs. They just kind of lifted their heads and looked at us as we passed by. But the way they looked at us, it seems like they're very intelligent. Hearing laughter from the front. I smiled. "What are yall laughing about, I asked, wanting to laugh too. "I told momma Teri about how we thought we were about to be murdered by a bear or a mountain lion and become the first Black people to have ever be killed by an animal in the woods." Mina said through her fit of laughter. I had to laugh at that thought because I feel like it would be a first. We have finally made it to the house we will be staying in and when I tell you that this house is big, I'm not lying. I feel like it may have eight bedrooms and an equal number of bathrooms. I figured it must be some sort of bed and breakfast type house where we wouldn't be the only ones here, which was a disappointment because I really don't like sharing my personal space with people I don't know. I don't trust easily, so I would rather not put myself in situations where I feel like I have to always watch my back. Clearing my thoughts, I got out of the car and headed to the trunk to unload our suitcases, but two more beasts popped up out of nowhere and started grabbing our things. "Hey, you scared the s**t outta me, yall can't be sneaking up on Black people like that I coulda hurt yall just now." Mina said with a straight face. Which had the two big men looking clearly confused and looking at each other like, "is she is serious," then looked back down at her just to check to see if it was a joke. She clearly caught what they were trying to insinuate. "Oh, so because yall are taller than me yall think I can't drop yall." Mina said, c*****g her head to the side, challenging them to say it out loud. "Uh it's because you're so tiny we don't think those small although beautiful hands could do much damage to us." The beast on the left said with a flirtatious smile. Clearly caught off guard and speechless. "Oh well. OK, I was just making sure." Mina finally replied when Shawna elbowed her in the side. She clearly has gotten over the shadow dude at the gate by the way she smiled at the guy on the right who had returned. "It's so sweet that yall want to help us with our stuff." She said, looking at the second guy. All of a sudden, we heard a deep growl that damn near made me jump on Lateri’s back. I was looking around, wondering how fast I could grab Lynn's bag before we were eaten by whatever the hell that was. But we didn't see anything at all. When we turned back around, none other than Shadow was there snatching our bags out of the second guy's hand who was smiling at Shawna. "The alpha wanted you to cover the gate for the rest of the night. I'll take their bags in." He said in a deathly tone that immediately made me put killer back into his name. Yup, Shadow killer it is. The second guy didn't even take a second look before he ran off muttering something I couldn't understand. "Hey what are you doing, you don't try and cockblock you acted like I was hot lava just a minute ago." Shawna stepped up to the Shadow killer. He growled so low his chest vibrated, which had me and Mina on high alert just in case we had to die today, because we were damn sure not letting this dude put his hands on her. Before I could make a move, Lateri was by Shawna. In the blink of an eye she was fast as hell for a 60-year-old. I'm telling you somebody is lying about their age. "Shadow, did you forget what I just said at the gate? Control yourself and get the bags in the house. What the hell is wrong with you today." Lateri scolded him and he immediately turned to get the rest of our bags, but not before scowling at Shawna. Lateri grabbed her and Mina's hands, smiling with excitement like she just didn't scold a big killer dude that could tear her arms off without any effort. "Come on girls, let me show you where you will be staying. Yall will love this house. I just know it." I fell in step with them as she passed by me. With the men carrying all our bags in one trip, which was crazy because it took us six trips to and from our house to the car when we left. Stepping in, we were all wide-eyed at how beautiful the inside of the house looked. Creme colored walls with paintings and old wooden carvings with various wolf drawing in different stances. Which looked damn near like the dogs we just passed by. I know damn well those weren't wolves they're keeping as pets. Following them into the kitchen, which was huge with creamed colored walls with black and gold counters and state of the art black and gold kitchen appliances. I was already in love and immediately told myself that I would be ordering those same appliances for our kitchen back home. Because I secretly love cooking, if I weren’t a wedding planner, I would definitely own a bakery or a small diner. I sometimes cater the weddings as well. I coordinate when a couple tell me the type of food they want to serve. I would offer my services if I feel like I'm the best option, which they always agree once we do a taste testing. Me and my cousins have many talents that we are naturally good at thanks to our parents and grandparents. My grandmother could sew and cook better than most professionals. She used to make clothing for plus-sized women and sell them at the local market. She was very popular because during those times a lot of stores didn't carry plus-sizes or, if they did, it was something ugly and not stylish at all. We all wore clothes that were made by my grandma or my momma and aunts because we couldn't afford fancy clothing back then. I remember when hammer pants were in style, my mom actually let us pick out our own fabric, then she got us plain black or white t-shirts, and she made the hammer pants and used the fabric as trimming on each arm and a small square patch she used to make it look like pockets. I remember everybody wanted my mom to make them some. I smiled remembering that me and Shawna thought we were the s**t back then. "Hey Lahni, come on, let me show you guys the bedrooms." Lateri said, walking upstairs. "Coming!" I yelled, still thinking about the things I will be doing in the upcoming weeks. Before turning and following them up to where we would be sleeping. Which was even better than downstairs. The master bedroom had to have come straight out of a 5-star luxury hotel because it had a big king-sized bed with a walk-in closet and a big ass jacuzzi tub that is all mine because Mina and Shawna lost a card game where the winner gets the best bedroom. Which I could hear their sad little whining cries knowing that they weren't going to be the one enjoying this beauty because it was all mine. "Hey, let's head on out to look at yall room I don't need yall crying over my carpets please and thank you." I said pushing them out the door as Lateri led them to the other rooms down the hall. Looking back down the steps, I see the guys were still there holding the suitcases. "Um, you can leave them there or bring them upstairs. The purple bags go in my room here. The pink bags belong to Mina's, Shawna's are the red ones, and the light blue is our friend Lynn's. She will be here tomorrow." I said as I followed behind the girls. I could hear Shadow Killer saying here, take the pink bags and I'll get the red ones." "Why, when it would be easier just to keep the ones I'm carrying." The first guy I don't know his name yet said. And again, I swear I hear another growl. Before I hear the first guy say fine. I don't know, but I don't think Shadow Killer's first reaction to Shawna was of disinterest. I think he actually likes her. I'm gonna have to tell her once we're alone. Later, we headed back to the living room where the guys left, quickly once they finished putting out bags in our rooms. "Well, I'm gonna go. I know yall may want to rest before tonight's party I can't wait to see yall performance. I also have to make sure everything is set up for tonight. I’ll see you guys later at the party. I'll have someone here to escort you to our social hall at 9pm." Lateri said, heading out the door but, not before she hugged us two more times. "I swear I just love her life. She is always so happy and loving, you would think we are her kids." Mina said, flopping down on the couch and me and Shawna followed suit. "OMG, this sofa feels like I think clouds would feel like. s**t I might be sleeping on this for the next 3 weeks" Shawna said, snuggling into the sofa. It did make you feel like you were getting a big old hug. But I think my bed would still be better. "Well, you can have that I'm sleeping in my big ass king-size bed, because that bed looks like he wants me on top of him tonight, and I'm giving him exactly what he wants, he doesn't even have to take me out because that bed is getting him some booty and that pillow is getting him some head." I said, with my eyes closed imagining how that bed is going to make me feel. "s**t you not lying, I'm about to see if I can find something light to snack on in this kitchen, and then I'm heading to shower and sleep until it's time to leave." Mina said, dragging herself off the sofa heading to the kitchen. "Yea that sounds like a plan right there." I said following her into the kitchen. The fridge is full of everything we could think of, and even the cabinets had everything we needed and some that we didn't. Shawna found some sliced turkey, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. I found some fresh buttery bread; Mina grabbed the drinks and chips. We stood at the island in the center of the kitchen making our sandwiches, before climbing onto bar stools. "Now they know they wrong for this. They act like they don't know everyone isn't six feet tall. We’re climbing these chairs like toddlers.” Mina said. We all laughed because we have to deal with short people's problems all the time. Mina has it the worse at 5'1, Shawna at 5'3, and me 5'3 ½ and yes, that half inch is important. "Well, at least the chairs are wide and has a back so we will be comfortable after we climb up here, even though our feet will be dangling and falling asleep if we stay up here too long. Is everybody over 6 feet hear. I mean Lateri is six feet even. So, it may be a common thing here." I shrugged. We chatted about shadow killer and ate our sandwiches and talked about our routine for tonight. We aren't usually nervous dancing in front of people, but it was weird to be asked to dance at a mating anniversary where we have no idea what they even do here, and on top of the fact that we only dance to urban music, which I honestly can't see any urban music listeners from what I have seen so far. So, we may end up with people looking at us like we're crazy. I choreographed the dance. She wanted something meaningful, so I chose dangerously in love by Beyonce. I decided to go out of the norm for us and do a kind of interpretive dance instead of the usual. I mean we were already out of our element already, so why not just stick to it. It wasn't a hard dance. We matched the words to our movement. I even looked up some sign language to see if I could incorporate it into a dance move. The end result got a thumbs up from the women in our classes and they even said they want me to start doing more choreography like that. I promised I would think about it. No promises though. "Finishing our sandwiches, we crawled up to our rooms. I showered and didn't even put anything on, just dried my body and sprayed my favorite oil mist that smelled like a mixture of watermelon and cotton candy. I hated flowery smells. It always makes me sneeze because I'm allergic to outside, not really outside but damn near everything out there. I take weekly shots because if I don't, then I will be swollen and itching everywhere. My eyes would be watering, sneezing, and coughing. It would feel like the flu. It’s not like some people who are allergic to peanuts better, and their throats would close within minutes. For me, it would take me being outside for at least a few hours before I start the sneezing, coughing, eyes watering, and breathing problems which go away after I take some medication. But more than 3 hours with no form of medication or Epipen, then I would need a hospital asap. I snuggled under my covers after setting the alarm on my phone. I could hear all kinds of howls as I drifted into dreamland. Yea, it wasn't weird at all hearing howling outside the windows.
