Collision of the real and virtual

247 Words
Amelia pulled herself out of the vr simulation so quickly she felt dizzy. For a few moments she just sat with her hand over her heart and focused on her breath. The thundering pulse in her ears receded and she felt she could hear herself think again. She sighed, she was still stimulated from the simulation, though she wasn't overwhelmed anymore. Inwardly, she cursed herself, if she couldn't handle intimacy in virtual, with an AI, how would she ever be capable of being that open in reality. Beyond that, not even half of the flight had passed by and she was tired of being in the simulator. She groaned, maybe if she could fall asleep, the remainder of the flight would be bearable. Adjusting the seat settings to sleep mode, Amelia closed her eyes and relaxed back into the chair. Immediately her mind filled with images of the AI, shirtless, handsome face only inches away from hers, smiling. She groaned. There was no way she'd get any sleep like this. Pushing herself out of her seat, she took a walk to the observation and dining room, staring out at the stars streaking by. Sighing, Amelia found a seat and scanned through the holographic menu. Ah. Maybe a drink would help. Scanning the drinks, she felt at a loss she was used to cheap beer, and had no idea what most of these cocktails were. Randomly, she selected one, a Fuzzy Navel, whatever that was, and ordered it.
